I suppose people looking for a taste of home or a reminder of their homeland lead to businesses that share their experiences and culture with the rest of us. Anniston Alabama was once the home of Fort McClellan, Although the main post and related activities have ceased to exist, remnants of the culture it brought to the area still remain and are cultural jewels left behind, The Immanuel Oriental Market is a grand Korean/Oriental market. It sits in an older strip mall at the 431 interchange within a short distance to the Anniston Museum of Natural History and Burman Museum. Although it could be just a really good oriental market filled with all the best sauces, spices, noodles and ingredients, it also has a short menu of the best of Korean Food that can be cooked up by the owner in a few minutes. Bulgogi spicy and not, Japchea, kalbi and Bibimbap and a short list of other favorites appear on the menu. Prepared with skill and love, like eating in the home kitchen or your favorite Mamasan! Food is mainly served to go, although we ate at a small working table in the back of the market. Drinks are varied and from a fridge at the front of the store. A perfect picnic for the park surrounding the Anniston museum complex! The culinary stars doe not always line up so well, but this market and take out place are the best. Owners are super friendly and graciously share their culture. And don't forget your bonchon -- korean sides to go with any meal in fridge at front. Spouts, kimchi, fish cakes, etc. YUM!

They do however have Vietnamese, Chinese and a small amount of Filipino items. They offer hot foods for take out (see pic of menu) although prices seem to be on the high side. I have not ordered yet, so I cannot speak to the taste, quality or portion sizes you get for takeout items. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Everything was flavorful and delicious. Loved the hot and sour soup, jalapeño beef and Mongolian beef. The tofu noodles had an amazing texture. We got so many things to start with Coconut water rice cake. Yes it does have the consistency of a sponge cake. It was good! I also got some Panda red bean buns. Cute and also good! For drinks: Sake, Taro bubble milk tea, and a Thai milk tea. We tried Winter Melon and clam soup For my entree I got Chicken with Lotus root which I enjoyed, My husband got crispy intestine . (My husband said he has never had it done that well-clean taste ) I tried it and it was ok. My son got the Szechuan style sautéed brisket and he ate it up ! To go yep we got sautéed pork belly and eggplant, pork, & basil . Both were also good. The waiter worked his bum off and we gave him a good tip. The only complaint were the young boys working up front who weren't friendly and acted like working was killing them. Why I didn't give you a 5! Otherwise you would have deserved it !!! All the food was delicious! Now on to the market - I like this better than the hometown market why they have many things I haven't seen including Jin noodles I have been looking everywhere for!!!! We bought many things to try including cucumber, orange, and what I thought was Mango potato chips. Nope it was abalone ! Not so good but the orange was good Of course Jin noodles , tiramisu mochi, banana milk rice snacks(yum) , tamarind drink, orange pepper spice, and chili crisp Our cashier though was joyless . Would I go back to both ? Yes I would!!

She's an amazing bartender--super friendly, helpful with recommendations and kept the space spotless. She turned a 4-star meal into a 5-star experience. * Fish Quality: The sushi and fish quality were impressively fresh. * The Rolls & Ramen: Both rolls recommended by the Bianca were well above average and the ramen exceeded my expectations. * The Rice (Shari): A bit of a letdown. The rice was too mushy/wet and the portion of rice per piece was way too large. * Pork Bao: Not worth the mention (or a photo). Skip this one. Verdict: 5/5 stars. Mostly thanks to Bianca's top-tier hospitality. Solid Japanese spot in the heart of Downtown.

It was pretty pack but was able to grab a couple of seats at the bar and was immediately attended to. I really loved the atmosphere of this place as it's in an old building and i always love the exposed brick in these restaurants. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls with me ordering the cyclone and my wife ordering a salmon roll and they were very delicious. I love to explore new restaurants and this was definitely a winner
