I have walked by and driven by this business thinking it was just Bubble tea, ice cream roll, etc. About a week ago I looked at the poster in the window. It was promoting noodles. So I suggested to my wife we grab lunch there. That was yesterday! Surprise! They have a lot of tables. The decor is not spectacular but it was pleasant and nice. The best thing was a very extensive menu. That had what I have been hunting for the past seven years. I could not find a single place in Birmingham area with Pan Fried noodles. People would tell me to try certain restaurants. Over and over again. Nothing! Until now! Great selection of fried noodles. It is inexpensive and awesome. This was not my first visit to Pho Sizzle, but unfortunately, this time the experience was very disappointing. We decided to branch out from our usual pho orders. My wife and mother ordered Pad Thai, while I chose the Cơm Đặc Biệt. We also shared appetizers: chicken lettuce wraps and steamed dumplings. The food arrived surprisingly fast, but the quality did not match the speed. Pad Thai: According to my wife and mother, the dish lacked flavor and depth, tasting flat and uninspired. Cơm Đặc Biệt: My dish was missing several of the items listed on the menu, which was both disappointing and misleading. Dumplings: These were soggy, limp, and unappetizing. Lettuce wraps: Serviceable, but nothing special. The service itself was minimal. A young server took our order but provided little attention afterward--no check-ins, no drink refills, and overall little engagement. The worst part, however, was what happened after the meal. While none of us ate much of our dishes, within half an hour of returning home both my mother and I became violently ill. The illness lasted for two days. The only item we both consumed that my wife avoided was the dumplings, leading us to believe they were the likely culprit. read more

My husband and I enjoyed our first visit to Pho Sizzle. We're fans of the cuisine to start and we were not disappointed. I had the Pho Thai and was impressed with my meal. (The waiter should have removed the plastic wrap from my cold vegetables which were nice and crisp. The soup was delicious and was a large enough portion that I brought home plenty for my lunch. This strip center restaurant is a pretty typical Vietnamese Pho place. The decor is simple and the atmosphere is casual. There is a TV on a wall, and karaoke equipment set up in a corner. Pastels, red, and gold are common colors. There is a religious shrine near the cash register. I love how the Vietnamese immigrants share their dining culture in these modest family-run restaurants. Vietnamese cuisine is uniquely different from other Asian dining. The most authentic and popular dish is the bowl of Pho soup. The soup base is a rich beef broth with flavors of fish sauce, lemon grass, and star anise. Vermicelli noodles, and various cuts of meat are served in the delicious broth. After the steaming hot bowl arrives, you add fresh bean spouts, basil leaves, cilantro, and slices of jalapeños to the bowl. Pho is served all day, but I especially enjoy it as a mid morning breakfast or lunch. I visited Pho Sizzle on Thursday with my friend Robin who lives in Trussville. He loves having a Vietnamese option on his side of town. Our waiter was welcoming and friendly. I started with a Cafe Su Da. Cafe Su da is a wonderfully strong coffee with condensed milk and it is served over ice. Traditionally, the coffee is brewed at your table in an individual coffee press. I was disappointed that Pho Sizzle doesn't prepare it this way but instead brews and mixes the coffee in the kitchen. It was good, although a tad too sweet. For my lunch I ordered Bun Ba Hue. This is a spicy beef soup that is slightly different from Pho. The broth is much spicier and has stronger beef complexity. And, instead of vermicelli, round spaghetti noodle are served in the bowl. Shredded purple cabbage, white cabbage, sliced jalapeños, and a squeeze of lime are the add-ins. I thought their version of this dish was good, but not great. Would rate 2.5 if I could. We've been coming here on and off since they opened and, unfortunately, it appears the quality has significantly declined. My pho dac biet was incredibly bland, the meat was tough, the meatballs squeaky, and there were no tendons or tripe. My wife's pad Thai was also lacking seasoning and soggy. My daughter's noodle dish was also underwhelming. None of us finished our meals, though not from lack of hunger. I found the experience rather unfortunate as I've had great food here before. At first glance, you wonder if they are opened because the windows are so tinted that it makes it look like the lights are off inside. Once we entered, we were hit with smoke. The place was very smokey. Our waitress was super friendly. But we ordered water to drink and our meal. About 12 minutes later she came back with the water, placed them on the table next to us, walked back to the kitchen, grabbed our food, then gave us the water after giving us the food. Note there were only two tables eating while we were there and one of them was leaving. So I'm not sure why we couldn't get our drinks faster. The menu is large, like, they decided to host all of the Asian cultures on one menu. You have your Chinese, your Vietnamese, and Thai. The only two familiar Asian food types I didn't see on the menu were Filipino and Indian. Regardless. We ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls, the shrimp and pork spring rolls, the chicken lettuce wraps, and the bahn mi with Vietnamese ham, roasted pork, pork pate, and pork loaf. The egg rolls were fried in old grease. The spring rolls were kinda chewy, the noodles weren't fully cooked and it didn't taste that great. The chicken lettuce wraps could have gone a little less heavy on the garlic and the onions, peppers, and garlic could have been cooked down a little more because you have an overwhelming taste of garlic and onions. The bahn mi was okay. Great roll, but the meat and pickles were just okay. We will keep looking for a good Vietnamese place. read more

This place is spotless!! Huge plus!!! I came in for lunch and it was not busy at all. A few people sprinkled in and out for to go orders but no other dine in guest. The gentleman who assisted me was very patient. I never know really what to order when I visit these types of establishments. I know what I have in mind but I'm never really sure. I knew I wanted something spicy and consisted of noodles. I know.... So vague. I ended up getting b.10 and the bowl was massive! Of course , I had leftovers , which I didn't eat. My meal was hearty but I wish it had more flavor and had a more distinct spicy taste. The sriracha I added didn't do the trick. Just made my dish red looking. I don't eat at pho places enough to know what I'm doing. I had a craving for something similar to what I ordered but it didn't satisfy. No fault of this establishment at all. Their wine and beer menu is super basic. Underwhelming for sure. No craft beers in sight. Overall, I would come here again. I was pleased with the service and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Food is really good! Service is TERRIBLE! The kid waiting on tables and greeting customers is in a world of his own. Sitting up front playing with his phone with AirPods in. Don't let the name fool you, the food here is genuinely great! I love Pho, but hate going down 280/459 to get a good bowl. When I searched pho places closer to home I didn't take Pho Sizzle seriously. But the reviews and pictures were promising, so I decided to give it a shot. Everything was so good and I can't wait to go back and try more options. They bill their food as Vietnamese with a few Chinese and Thai dishes. This means that everyone can find an option they enjoy! We started with the spring rolls and the Vietnamese egg rolls. Both were wonderful, but I liked the fried a little better. The pho was delicious and flavorful with a good amount of meat in the soup. After a long shopping trip at a department store in the same plaza, we decided to give Pho Sizzle a shot for dinner. I'm a big fan of pho (if I had to eat one dish for the rest of my life, that's what it would be) and my wife can usually find something she'd enjoy on any menu. She was really excited to try their ice cream, but upon entering we saw a sign saying they weren't offering any that day. Big disappointment, but things happen. We ordered crab rangoons and spring rolls for appetizers - I enjoyed both; my wife disliked the crab rangoons, which I'll admit tasted nothing like any other crab rangoon I've ever tried, and thought the spring rolls were fine. For entrees, I ordered pho thai (pho with thin beef) and she ordered chow ho fun after seeing a photo that looked tempting online of another patron's dish at Pho Sizzle. My pho broth was uncharacteristically sweet tasting and none of the usual additions were provided, like sweet thai basil and bean sprouts. I would have asked for some, but I knew there was no way either of those would change just how much I disliked the broth. My wife's dish looked, smelled and tasted unappetizing, both on her account and mine. We decided not to eat our meals after a few bites, which is something we never do. Food is always amazing. I love their rare beef pho and spring rolls. However today was extra amazing though as I went in after work to place a to go order. I was exhausted, ordered my food and went home. Tonight at around 9:30 my doorbell rang. When I answered it, the gentleman that took my order this afternoon was standing there. See I was so exhausted that I had left my wallet sitting on the counter. He drove all the way to my house, in the Argo Margaret area, after they closed to return my wallet. Delicious Pho and the broth is so satisfying. I had sliced thin beef with meatballs, which were savory. Usually garnish of basil, lime, bean sprouts and jalapeño. Ordered an appetizer and meal (C6). Been to this place MANY times and it's always good. Today my entree was not as described in the menu; not even close. I thought "it will be fine." The pork was so tough I couldn't chew it and the shrimp had no flavor and were cooked 10 times longer than they should have been. I ate three bites and went to pay. When asked about my meal, I indicated that it was not what was stated in the menu. The girl just said "I'm sorry." So I essentially paid for what I didn't order and she seemed fine with that. Even though my wife and I don't claim to be experts in Vietnamese cooking, we have eaten at our fair share of Vietnamese restaurants. We both have to say this is one of the best we've visited. Consider this place the Cheesecake Factory of Vietnamese because you get large portions and is a bit more upscale than most others. We started out with 2 of the A3: Goi Cuon Tom Thit (Shrimp & Pork Spring rolls-2 each) appetizers. We should have stuck with one order for these rolls were double the size we usually see! Delicious especially with the sauce! My wife ordered a medium bowl of P6: Pho Tai Nam and it was HUGE! Again, much larger than normal! Originally they forgot to bring out the side (sprouts, lime, etc.) but they did eventually bring them and she said it was "right on the money". I decided to try something new...N3: Chow Ho Fun which uses the flat thicker noodles. While this portion was not as overwhelming as everything else, it was enough to fill me up and I still had leftovers to take home. Staff was friendly and helpful. As mentioned, the decor was more upscale than most. Maybe it was because of COVID, but several items on the menu were whited out. Still have several Vietnamese and Thai items to choose from. Stopped by on our way home from Gatlinburg. It's right off i59..very convenient! Being from New Orleans, it's always an uneasy feeling walking into a pho place knowing that it may not be authentic due to the location. This place blew my mind! My friends and I were craving pho because we hadn't had any in TN. We walked in and were greeted right away. The place is big and open and has a lot of seating. We started off with grilled pork spring rolls and egg rolls: both were really good. The grilled pork had a lot of flavor. Here comes the pho. I do want to warn you that the portions were big. I felt like the small was a medium/large. You get a ton of meat and noodles. They definitely don't cheat you out. The broth was very tastey as well! My experience overall was great.
