Hot Damn. The egg drop, egg rolls, and kung pao chicken were a culinary anomaly for the area. It's been months traveling through Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, and Singapore and finding this quality "Chinese food" food was rare. I had some good authentic Chinese food in my travels but I was always having cravings here and there for proper Amurican Chinese food. This reminds me of the proper outer NYC borough Chinese food here. The egg drop soup has that orange tint to it. The kung pao chicken was crispy pieces with a thinner sauce. The egg rolls are freshly made and legitimately world class. Pork fried rice is nice and standard. The Mongolian beef isn't too good. UPDATE: The last few times we have eaten here this year our order was wrong, food items were left out, yet we were charged for them, and the food was like a cheap frozen dinner or worse. I have been a patron here for 15+ years - used to be same restaurant with different name years ago. Especially since the name change, it has had good days and bad, but I think it has hit rock bottom and they don't seem to be trying to improve. All the while, their prices have really gone up. New China Restaurant is great every time we order. The food is always hot, delicious and consistent. We order ahead and pickup is quick and simple. They do have a small sitting area if you want to sit and eat but we always take ours to go. read more

Went on Apple Maps and picked this one because it had a combination of the most reviews and the highest reviews. Walked into a little small room with Six tables in a fading strip mall and an ordering counter with the typical photos of food up top. The fam was jonesing for some quick Chinese food on the way back to Atlanta from Atalla. Two choices came up and this had the better reviews so we gave it a try. I am giving this a 3 star because their food is very good. Their dumplings are great, and they offer a healthy menu which is what we always order here. If not for their food, I would rate this place a 2. It is not meant to be a sit down restaurant - mainly take out. But that is not the problem. It is their customer service. Fresh food, fast service every time and the hard working family that runs this day and night are such great people! Prices are good and you get a large portion size at lunch. My husband and I just finished eating the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. Here it is Christmas evening and we just landed in Atlanta. We have a 4 hour drive to get home. Most every place is closed except for Waffle House. I have traveled on holidays in the past and Chinese takeout is usually open. A quick search brought us to New China Restaurant in Anniston. It was only about 5 minutes from the interstate so we thought it a much better choice than the other option. Inside it looks like a typical Chinese-American take out... but the taste. Amazing. I haven't had food this good since my last trip to Shanghai two years ago. The hot and sour soup is a must have. It was so good we bought a 2nd larger one to take home to Huntsville. It was so delicious with slivers of garlic, a good amount of tofu, and mushrooms, and just spicy enough to make your nose run. . Perfection. The General Tso's was on point and my husband finished his lo mein with a smile. We are so thankful we found this little gem. Next time we are in the area we will be making a stop here without hesitation. read more
