If you're looking for a change of pace, something different, a date-night event....come check this out! When you walk in you'll be surrounded by candles. Smell em. These are the scents you'll be choosing from in the class. The candles are made upstairs. You'll see a sign directing you up there, OR somebody will come down and ask you to wait until some people leave. They book back to back, so people are always coming and going. The two employees stayed busy the whole time we were there. I gotta give them props! It's BYOB so make sure you bring something to sip on while you're making candles. They do provide glasses or you can bring your own. Once upstairs you'll choose your vessel (which style of candle do you want to make). Then you'll choose your scent. They had fall scents when we went. You can mix two scents, but they explain the pros and cons of that. AND you can choose your ratio. Then, you can choose a color if you'd like. I won't go into everything because they'll walk you through it. It's pretty straight up. It was a fun experience. You can even title your candle. They'll provide a label and colored pencils. You can place the label on the side or top. Pretty cool. Lastly, you'll have to come back a minimum of 24-hours later. It needs to set. I've had mine home and got around to burning it. I was hoping the scent would be stronger (or that I could at least smell it). Perhaps my mix settled or something. I'll update this review if I find the scent stronger as I burn it. Ended up booking after finding them after a search for a fun activity to do with a friend visiting from out of town. We were greeted warmly by the host. She got us got up and graciously opened our wine. The experience is BYOW (wine) if you would like. We selected our jars, candle colors, and scents. It was a fun, super chill experience. Carina was an amazing host for this candle making session. She was knowledgeable about the different scents and what would pair well. She chatted with us and had an overall welcoming energy. She even provided local restaurants/bar suggestions at our request. There are so many scents available at this location and various sizes of candle to match any price point. The process takes about 20mins to make a candle and a couple hours to let it settle. It is BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine and chatted and sipped while the candle cured. The location is very nice. The inside / lobby is where you would pick up your candles and they have a miscellaneous selection of "mystery candles" that can be purchased. Classes are held upstairs. We had a 6p class. Street parking is available and it's active from 8-6p. Unfortunately, things Weren't as smooth as it could have been when I attended class. We didn't have the regular instructor apparently, and things felt a little "off." There was no proper introduction, the person didn't give enough context or information about the process, and the class just felt disorganized. The experience could have been better if there were suggestion for scents, music playing, and more commentary about the process we were going through and why certain steps were being taken. Our class had 3 couples so it was definitely an opportunity to have a unique, intimate experience. I was definitely disappointed. I am not sure if it would be worth it. The cost was $35. The deposit was subtracted from the cost of the candle making. I have not tried to burn candle yet, so maybe the outcome is better. read more

This was a quick and fun activity. Our group was in an out within an hour. Carina worked with our group and she was very knowledgeable and accommodating. She was patient and provided recommendations of scent combinations. It's BYOB so don't forget your bottle of wine! Be careful, the floor is very slippery because of all of the wax and oils that have been spilled over a period of time. Please be patient with the employee who is working during your visit. This was not worth the money at all: TLDR we paid $60+ for gross smelling candles that took 5 minutes to make and they were out of much supplies that is part of the "experience" - 99% of the 100 different fragrances they boast about had a very unpleasant tangy or odd smell that made us physically gag. - the store was out of the only scent we would actually want to use, as well as jar sizes, and labels for the candles. We were not told this in advance, and they still displayed the scents they were out of. This led to us being disappointed after paying for the candle making "experience". - the website says the experience lasts 45 minutes and takes up to 2 hours to cool. It actually only takes 5 minutes to pour wax, and mix the scent in...again, this led to disappointment and confusion on what we're paying for in this "candle making experience". We were told that at 5:45pm we would not be able to pick up our small candles even though the advertised cooking time is 2 hrs and they close at 9pm? The last thing we wanted to do was travel back to the store at a later date and we planned our evening around the 2 hr wait time. Luckily, they were done drying when we checked 2 hours later and I asked the clerk if we could take them. There is quite a lot to fix with this business. read more

Fun and unique experience. I came with a huge group of friends which was fun because we had the whole place basically to ourselves. The best part is picking out the scents. They have a large variety and you can combine scents as desired. The last step is picking out the colors and although most people ended up with solid colored candles, there's also an opportunity to make swirly designs. I loved how helpful the staff was in suggesting scents, colors, designs, and combinations. They were super kind, and it was so fun to interact with them. This was a very unique activity that I have never done before and a fun concept. First walk in the main lobby but have to go to the second floor to do the candle making. Area looks like it can fit at least 25 people at once. Wasn't crowded when I was there so there was plenty of space. The employee gives a run down on what you need to do as far as choosing your size jar and the different type of scents that are available. Everything is hands on for the most part. It was very cool. Process doesn't take that long. About 25-30 minutes to make the candle. 2-3 hours for the candle to cool. There is no need to rush and get it that same day if you can't. They hold your candle for a while so you can come back another day and pick up. Prices were just a little much. $20 for a small mason jar seemed a little steep. Absolutely fabulous place for a girls night out, date night, bridal shower, just a lot of fun! One of my good friends gave me a gift card for my Birthday. We came together on a Friday night. Cute shop downstairs, upstairs is where the fun begins. You choose the size of your candle, prices are between $20-30. Choose your scents, up to 4 in a candle, you pour your hot wax in the jar, then your scented oils. Choose the color of your candle, stir and in 2 hours you have a beautiful smelling candle. So fun! We were given detailed instructions. And able to smell different oil combinations. There's over 100 different scents to choose from. Each one smelled better than the next! Creme Brulee and Georgia Peach were so delicious! Cucumber smelled fresh and clean. Oh and the Bacon...oh my goodness! Just like Maple Bacon on a brunch buffet! Our instructor was amazing! So sweet. I gathered 5 of my friends and we had the perfect girls night. Katherine was awesome. We especially loved her playlist and she was super helpful and accommodating. The prices were reasonable (ranging from $20-$30 depending on the size). COVID precautions include wearing a mask at all times and not touching tester candles. It was only our group in the studio and then a couple came when we were finishing up. I'm not sure if this is done purposely because of COVID or not, but is a great precaution. Luckily I found this gem. Walk into this gorgeous boutique shop and be swept away with more scents than a bath and body works has to offer. Bring your own wine bottle and head upstairs to make your own candle. Leveraging their 50 plus scents, you get to play chemistry and create your own unique scent. Start off my picking your candle size (this will fluctuate the price) and then go find up to four scents (they recommended we stick with three). From there the team here takes you through the steps of aligning your wick, making your scent cocktail, pouring your wax, designing your own label, and letting it sit properly. 3 hours later, you've got your own custom candle. Highly recommend this spot for a date night and then check out the countless bars and restaurant on this street after. read more

Wanted something to do with my granddaughter and this place was recommended in a group I'm apart of. It's a quaint shop in downtown Baltimore that if you're not really looking for it you will pass right by. The place smells adorable soon as you walk in, quite welcoming. They have candles already prepared as well as soaps however you can make your own. Upstairs is where the magic happens. It's a BYOB and they provide glasses. There are over 100 scents available, then you choose the color of any that you want your candle then the glass size. The option is up to 4 scents I chose Honey dew, cranberry, Georgia peach and Apple- the aroma from these oils was Devine! The only downfall is you don't actually pour yourself it's the staff does all that. You basically pour your scents together and then dump into the glass. The instructor made it fun and gave us various options for music to set the tone for our group. We had a party of 6 and went on a Sunday because parking is free on Sundays. My boyfriend and I did the candle making class. It was a fun experience, but it seemed rushed and the class teacher wasn't very personable. There was a different class I wanted to do at a different studio, but it was sold out for days in advance which makes me think it was a better experience. Their candles themselves weren't much to look at and seemed like they were whipped together quickly in the same studio we made ours in. Taking the class gives a discount in the store, but none of the candles were worth buying unfortunately. The candle making only took 15-20 minutes. Most of the time is spent waiting on the candles to dry/be ready so make sure you're with someone you like talking to haha. Our teacher told us to leave our candles outside to set quicker which meant we had to wait downstairs and not in the studio. It made the process quicker, but felt exclusionary especially when the other people (only 2 out of 20 available spaces) who were there were waiting upstairs in the studio. I love the scent of mine, but wish the experience was more enriching. Also, it's BYOB but I didn't see that listed anywhere on my booking. read more

She helped us through the entire process from recommending scent combinations to telling us local restaurants we could go eat at. The prices were great as well. My boyfriend and I went to the Candle Studio for a Saturday date night, not knowing what to expect. Upon entering, we went upstairs and nobody greeted us. There were ~20 people sitting around the tables, most looking bored/confused. We finally walked to two empty seats and waited there for 5 minutes for some direction (or even a greeting). Eventually an older lady told us she'd be with us shortly - didn't catch her name because she didn't introduce herself. After 10 more minutes she gave us place settings..still not instructing us as to the first steps in the candle making process. The rest of the night went on in a similar fashion. This one lady was running the place solo, and not efficiently. There was no order to anything, and this was made worse by the lack of any instruction. The Candle Studio either needs more employees working or a more organized process where everybody who signed up for the same timeslot follows bulk instructions.
