I was there at Sora as a guest to a resident,…read moreand I was excited to apply for an apartment, until Brian came and kicked out another guest (Ashley Brown who was the one who recommended the apartment to me) out on a technicality in front of a large group of residents and guests. This was not only awkward and confrontational but petty and embarrassing. Whatever beef he had, he did not need to air in front of a group of paying residents, club members, and future tenants who were previously having a great time. I searched so hard for a benefit of the doubt but couldn't find a professional reason to do this. Ashley was a former employee who left on great terms, and Brian really embarrassed himself and Sentral (the management company) trying to accomplish god knows what. I'm appalled at how petty he was as part of management. I wouldn't touch a lease here with a 100 ft pole. I prefer home to be somewhere relaxing. Imagine coming home and the staff are causing drama everywhere. I hear it's not the first time he's deterred a potential resident. Or the second. Or the third. Comments from current Club residents: "Things were great until Brian started feeding us nothing but soggy fish and chips." Simple requests such as adding someone to a lease or getting clarification on contracts can take weeks for management to respond to, if they respond at all. To make matters worse, I was sent important lease documents the same day I moved in, which felt rushed and unprofessional. Communication throughout my tenancy has been poor and frustrating. The property also does not feel secure or properly managed. There are frequently homeless individuals directly outside the building, creating an uncomfortable and at times unsafe environment for residents and guests. Despite the premium pricing, the overall living experience does not match what is advertised. Management is extremely restrictive and difficult to work with. Residents are treated more like liabilities than valued tenants. Even basic situations, such as attempting to replace a damaged car window in the garage, became unnecessarily complicated instead of being handled reasonably. For the amount this building charges, I expected professionalism, responsiveness, and a safe living environment. Instead, the experience has been stressful, poorly managed, and disappointing overall. I would strongly recommend future renters carefully review all policies and consider other options before signing a lease here.

It used to be a well-maintained and enjoyable place to live, but that is no longer the case. There are ongoing maintenance issues that are not properly addressed, including a persistent foul odor in my unit that I've submitted multiple work orders for with no resolution. Common areas and amenities are frequently out of service--gym equipment is often broken, including the AC and a StairMaster that has been down for over a year. The clubhouse also has broken TVs and other neglected equipment. There have also been damages to my vehicle caused by security staff, which were not properly addressed or resolved. There are additional concerns about upkeep throughout the property, including rusted fencing on the rooftop that appears poorly maintained. In addition, wildlife control in the parking garage appears poorly handled, and I have personally seen multiple dead pigeons. Security is rarely helpful when issues arise, and communication from management has been inconsistent at best. Meanwhile, rent continues to increase without any noticeable improvements to the living conditions or amenities. Overall, the property no longer reflects the standards it once had under prior management.

They are SALES PEOPLE ( first and foremost) and the only relationship these " relationship managers " want with you is the one when you're in their office and signing on the dotted line. I asked a " Relationship Manager" for her manager or corporate office contact information , she turned her head and said she can't give out contact information to the general manager nor the corporate office. Huh? Who says that lol. Clearly she's not very bright... like we're not able to GOOGLE and get the AMIDI GROUP ( located in Redwood City, Ca. ) or the General Manager ARGIS contact information? The unfortunate thing about this building is that I have encountered this RUDE behavior from several of these " relationship managers" , not just one! Which make you wonder about the person who is at the top " managing them", to allow this type of behavior reflects badly on MANAGEMENT. Often staff will model how MANAGEMENT behaves...hmmm So in a nutshell , do I recommend this particular Concrete Jungle with their staff of rude ineffective GEN X Sales People? Absolutely not! SkyLux on Wilshire (formerly 1027 Wilshire Apartments) -- 1 out of 5 Stars…read more I am writing this review as both a returning resident and a property management industry professional with experience across luxury, commercial, LIHTC, and Section 8 properties. I was among the first tenants when this building opened as 1027 Wilshire under the Amidi Group three years ago. I recently moved back in four months ago, and the decline since then is significant, deeply concerning, and unacceptable for a property at this price point. Vehicle Break-In -- No Accountability My wife and I had our vehicle broken into within the active security perimeter of this property. Management refused to proactively review their own camera footage or report findings to law enforcement. Instead, we were told a police officer would need to come to the property to obtain the video. A police report had already been filed. Management has cameras throughout this building, can identify the perpetrator, determine which unit or area they accessed, and contact law enforcement directly. That is their professional responsibility. Handing raw footage to a victim who has a personal stake in identifying that person creates a safety and liability risk. This was never done. No follow-up, no resolution, no accountability whatsoever. Security Has Completely Fallen Apart Under the Amidi Group, security was a genuine standout. There were 6 to 7 officers on site at all times conducting active patrols. A security supervisor was present during morning and midday shifts. Tenants were personally contacted when guests arrived after set hours. Officers wore professional suits, some armed and some not, but you could not tell the difference -- and that professionalism alone was a deterrent. Today, security is visibly lazy and inattentive. Posts are not being maintained, patrols are nonexistent, and there is no supervisory presence. For a building experiencing active break-ins and ongoing criminal complaints, this is completely unacceptable. The Tenant Interview Process Is Gone One of the most effective practices under the Amidi Group was a mandatory tenant interview. It did not matter if you had a perfect credit score and strong financials -- if you failed that interview, you were not moving in. That standard protected the community and ensured residents were genuinely committed to maintaining the quality of the building. That process no longer exists. Current residents are now reporting prostitution activity on the sixth floor, with multiple complaints filed and no action taken by management. This is exactly what a rigorous screening process is designed to prevent. Management Is Reactive, Not Proactive Under previous management, every incident report was acknowledged and acted on. Residents received email updates confirming their concern was being addressed, with daily follow-up until resolution. The current management team does none of this. Complaints go unanswered. Incident reports disappear. There is no communication, no accountability, and no follow-through. This is not how a professional property management team operates at any level, let alone a luxury building. Unit Condition at Move-In Was Unacceptable When I moved back in, my furnished unit was not ready for occupancy. I found a pipe stored under the mattress, hair throughout the unit, dirty dishes left from the previous tenant, and a light fixture that flickered constantly. Maintenance came out and the issue was never fixed. I paid out of pocket for a professional deep cleaning just to make the unit livable. That cost should never fall on a resident. Move-in readiness is a basic obligation of property management. Ongoing Safety Hazards Left Unaddressed The entry gate is still not operational, despite management urgently demanding residents get parking stickers. Doors on the fourth floor and in multiple stairwells are being propped open regularly. The elevators do not require key card access, which is a direct security vulnerability given everything happening on this property. Multiple break-ins have been reported with no meaningful response. Prostitution complaints on the sixth floor remain unresolved. This building has a strong foundation and was an excellent place to live under its original management. What it has become under current ownership is a reflection of what happens when professional standards are abandoned. Until Esseks demonstrates real, consistent, and accountable change, I cannot recommend this property to anyone at this time.
