Strangest retail interaction of my life. I'm a fashion consultant (H Lorenzo, Departamento, Kith, et al) -- I just walked in because I've often passed and saved some items in my mind that I wanted to try on, and because it's usually never open, I went in. The owner immediately announced how exhausted she was, and was trying to wrap up. I said "oh I'll come back another day" since she's trying to close up, she said no. So, I kept looking, was about to try on a ballet skirt, a floral top and a sweater, but she probed again, "so are you just browsing orrrrrr...." I said, "just seeing what I see, I've always wanted to come in" and she stonewalled... real life silent treatment... I said "I can tell you want me to leave, so I'll get out of you hair." And she yelled "BYE" like a high schooler. Whatever you're going through personally, I do feel for you, but as someone with 20 years in the industry, some free advice, I recommend hiring a manager or an employee. Unless this is a passion project for you, not profit driven, in which case, by all means continue running your "store" like a mad king. read more
