It would probably do you best to come armed with Spanish if you want to talk with the staff, but from what I gather they can have one of the kids translate if necessary. This place actually gives me strong enough cravings to visit the neighborhood, quite a distance from where I live. I know I can grab an item or two, take home another, and then grab some wonderful tamales down the street. My favorite thing they do is the sope ($4), a larger than usual rendition that is piled up with beans, lettuce, the meat of your choice, tomatoes, cream, and grated cheese. They make a perfect boat out of the tortilla, a skill that might seem mundane but proves to be the heart and soul of a good sope. I like to heap on their homemade green salsa, which is a bit gelatinous. Whatever they are doing to marinate their chicken and carnitas here should be given an award.

I got two tacos and one chicken tamale for $6.25. Not a bad deal. The tacos aren't the best that I have had but they weren't horrible. The only problem I had with the tacos were that there wasn't enough meat. At first I thought they put quite a lot of meat but after a closer look, it's mostly potatoes. Also this place is one of my least favorite places to get tamales. It was super dry and there wasn't much chicken. You're better off getting one from one of the carts along 116th street. The staff was nice though, and was very understanding even with the language barrier

I had no idea what I wanted all I knew is I am HUNGRY. I was greeted with a smile from Rocio. She was very friend and patient. He asked her what are the most common orders. Shrimp tacos, Birria and Chicken nachos were the popular orders. Rocio was very detailed while explaining the meat and topping for each. I decided to go with the chicken nachos. I asked if the jalapeños were fresh and she said however, they are pickled. She even took her time to show me the container that it was in. I told her that I am not a big fan of pickled. She asked if I would like some on the side ans I agreed as to have it that way. The chicken nachos was VERY GOOD. The nachos were homemade and fresh. The toppings was the right amount. Everything was on POINT. I had a Jarritios Tamarind soda. The ambience is nice and clean. It's small and comfortable. Rocio mentioned that she ia from the area. Her and her husband wanted to find a nice cozy spot and this iamb DEFINITELY it. Try em! Welcome to the neighborhood Pink Pitaya!!! I will be back!

You normally go to a bakery to get the freshest breads and sweets, preferably fresh out the oven…read more But most Mexican bakeries also serve an assortment of antojitos, and this is no different here. Surprisingly the bread of the torta ($5) is not going to knock any socks off, since it is assumed to have been baked here, but the insides are tasty enough to satisfy. My version was breaded chicken (milanesa de pollo) and came with plenty of avocado and vegetables, and a thin base layer of beans. I knew I wanted to try more than that, so I had the second half of the large sandwich packed up to go and perused the menu again, which is on the wall behind the counter. I had a good chance to look around and inspect the environment while waiting between courses, and you have to love a place that has all the charm of an old barber shop. Come in the morning and the whole space is overrun by carts of trays holding fresh baked goods. There is a coffee pot for self-service for anyone interested, but it seemed not to be used very frequently. The only decorations were adorning the wall directly above a small counter used for eat-in service, a map of Mexico and a rendition of The Last Supper. When my order of three tostadas ($7) came, I was very excited by the nice looking plate, which would be quite a feat to finish. I love Mexican tripe, so that was my selection for this order. I was surprised at this version though, which was not crispy at all and I would not recommend for those squeamish of it. The soft, chewy tubes were super fresh and heaped on each tortilla quite generously. Once again, this is an order that is a whole meal. This panaderia is the perfect place to step in quickly and satisfy a craving of any kind.
