Got here to get a few healthy items and snacks at this organic store in Fort George. It doesn't have a lot to be honest. Organic Paradise has organic foods obviously. Just a few. The stuff here is also expensive and many things can be past the expiration it seems. Best thing that can be said is at least there's an option for this stuff around here. It's a ways from a lot of other health food stores. That doesn't mean the products should be old and browning though. Produce certainly isn't worth it. Way overpriced. Has a bin full of frozen foods. These are all mixed up and who knows how long these have been in there. Have to say maybe it's best a place to get a few snacks and not look to get ingredients for a meal. It's way cheaper at most places even at Whole Foods it seems. They have pretty limited selection, but there's bulk items such as grains, and plenty of things for vegans and vegetarians. read more

I'm really grateful for Svetlana's (is that her name?) expertise as a local herbalist. Her energy is sort of "tough love" and if you are also from an immigrant family you probably won't be too phased by it. Some may find it abrasive. I wish she had told me what was in the herbal tea she gave me to heal my chronic illness but whatever is in that bag of tea leaves was affordable and helpful to me in my holistic healing journey. read more

I've been purchasing from this store since 2008. I enjoy most that is it a little food gem for us vegans, vegetarians or health conscious individuals who have to travel downtown to purchase these types of foods. Because of Organic Paradise we are able to get our basic needs met when the monthly or weekly shopping downtown hasn't taken place. In addition, the owner and workers are available to answer any questions and help with inquiries regarding herbs, tinctures, and the food items available. All the produce is organic. Prices are set per pound so you get a food idea of the quantity you want. They sell "empanadas" and "quipes," providing an ethnic food option that captures part of the identity of the people in the neighborhood where the business is located. They are delicious and you can chose from vegetable or soy meat. They also carry some vegetarian baked goods they make as well. I enjoy coming to this place and purchasing my most immediate health food items. Little places like this that retain a small business identity are very much needed and because of this more places are rising in the area. read more

A small health food store that has almost everything you want. But I found it overpriced and some of the produce did not seem fresh.

Small selection, very expensive, like tofu being $1 more here than Zabars, Gristedes or. West side Market, some things are visible, many things, you have to really dig for, the owner is angry, pushy and rude. There are not many health food places around here, but I could not take it anymore, so now I just haul my groceries from downtown! Oh, you could plotz with that owner! Just try asking her the price of something, or just ask her anything, go ahead, you'll be sorry. She also lied to me about something, saying it was Vegan, I bought it, but when I read the label at home it had eggs in it. She knew, she just has to push. She knows I am Vegan, but always tries to get me to buy whatever she has upfront to taste that day, no matter what has in it and is annoyed when I don't want to buy/try those items. I don't do my regular shopping here, I mostly go for the bulk dried items like quinoa, dried fruits and nuts and beans and little things like organic honey. They prepackage the the bulk items, but you can also request specific amounts and they will make up a bag for you on the spot if its in stock. As for other items, the selection is kind of all over the place. They may have something one week then not again for a while. Fruits and vegetables are sometimes very expensive and not in great shape. But they do stay open very late, until 8 or 9pm sometimes, which is helpful. read more

Because I am of a European descent and am aware of how some older Russian ladies can be, I wasn't expecting much of great service when stopping by this store. The owner surpassed my expectations. She's extremely rude. Makes snotty remarks about things she shouldn't be talking about, especially to people she doesn't know. I was very excited to hear about this store from my mother-in-law, but was highly disappointed when I stopped by. ***infertility is a very serious topic, in case she does check reviews on Yelp, please understand that when working in the field where you claim that "natural herbs" can cure people or help them get better, you should learn how to speak and act when vulnerable people come to your store. read more

I used to live in the neighborhood for 6 years. Would stop by the store once in a while, but become regular customer after the owner recommended a homeopathic syrup that saved me. At that time I could not get rid of a cough (left over after severe cold), and could not sleep at night because of that. Official medicine did not help. And I had job interview in a couple of days, that I did not what to fail because of my sudden cough attacks. After taking it for one day as recommended by the owner (no garlic, no mint during the treatment), I was able to sleep at night, and got well just in a couple of days. I thought that was amazing, and since then started stopping by the store more often. I can pretty much feel positive energy going from the owner. And I see how she cares about people. So, I was very much surprised when I read the previous review. It does not bother me that some prices are higher than in big chain stores - she has a small business, no wonder she can't always compete with them. But personal approach has much higher value to me anyway. And the owner speaks at least 3 languages: English, Spanish, and Russian. Last time I was there 3 days ago, bought amazingly yummy organic apricots. By the way, all fruit and vegetables are organic, not like in Whole Foods and other stores, where you have to watch out not to pick up something so called "conventional" by mistake. read more

I like having a neighborhood health food store, the owner is knowledgeable and nice to speak with; the store has been here for over 20 years. Their selection and prices are competitive and even better than places like Whole Foods or the ilk. My most recent discovery was organic pasture raised eggs for $5.69 (at least a dollar cheaper than whole foods!). read more

Like any independent, neighborhood health food store, New Age Nutrition (its original name) may not have every thing at all times or at the lowest prices, but it has been Manhattan's northern-most go-to place for fresh organics (including wheatgrass) , nutrients, homeopathics, herbs, and bulk items for decades, which is worth a few dollars more. Svetlana runs the business by herself with the help of one part-timer, I believe, so be patient. My wish is that she will re-activate the juice bar - an idea whose time has definitely come. read more
