Whenever I need a vegetarian version of something, or some more obscure ingredient, I can count on Good N Natural to deliver. They have limited produce, but it's fresher than the Key Foods and most of the produce bodegas. Similarly, the dairy case has a variety of vegan milks, yogurts, cheeses, etc, but it still a pretty small section. Where they really shine is with dry goods, like cereals, snacks, pastas, mixes, etc. I can always be inspired for dinner by making a quick stop in Good N Natural and, if laziness overwhelms me, they have lots of great frozen dinners and pre-made foods in the back! There's also a great vitamin aisle with every type of vitamin you could imagine. If you need something and they don't have it, you can usually get it ordered. They also have an aisle dedicated to shampoos, lotions, and even organic toothbrushes, etc! Also, in the back they have lots of new age healthfood books that are fun to peruse. (Although I'm pretty sure if I need a book that big on bowel cleansing, I shouldn't be relying on a book in the first place!) Typical hassles that come with city stores: the aisles are narrow and crowded, there is no clear place to stand in line (and if there is a long line, the aisles become even more crowded!) Guys are constantly restocking, even at peak hours. And sometimes things can be hard to find (not in the aisle you'd expect). And of course the typical hassle that comes with any "natural foods" store: prices are a bit steeper than your local grocer. Overall though, if you're looking for veg options, a hard-to-find ingredient, or just want to mill about and enjoy that "health-food store smell," Good N Natural is the place to go! My favorite health food store. Every time I come here I am in awe lol! It's a smaller store but that doesn't stop it's punch. Very well stocked and they always have something new. I'm on a keto lifestyle & the first thing I saw was Simple Mills Frosting... I screamed with joy haha! I was thrilled to see how many delicious items that I picked up in one round. This place should not call itself Organic market. Most of their produce are genetically engineered. I do not understand why humans are so idiotic. Can't they look at the fruits and vegetables and realize that no normal produce could be so huge. An apple should never be the size of a cantaloupe nor a pear as big as a pumpkin! This place is amazing. Unless you're looking for meat, they have it. They have a terrific inventory for such a small store. I do a lot of my grocery shopping here, and find I only need to go to Whole Foods Market in Manhattan to stock up on chicken and beef. It's natural food, so the prices are going to be higher than what you pay for processed, big brand products at the C-Town or Pioneer, but I find the prices are on par or lower than prices at Whole Foods. In addition to regular dry food items, they have a dairy section, vitamins, natural personal care, and household cleaning products. I needed some organic and all natural foods and didn't feel like traveling to Yonkers or the City for Whole foods. I googled "natural food stores in the Bronx" and this popped up. So I got in my car, punched the address in my navigation and began my trip. Upon arrival I was a little confused. My GPS said that I had arrived but I wasn't convinced that I did. I looked a few times and still could find it. So I parked my car and got out and walked to get a better/closer view and BOOM there it was. Who would of thought that a natural food store would be nestled so tightly inbetween Burger King and the Mcdonalds which is right across the street. But it is and I'm glad that I found it. They have all the necessities that you need from organic foods to all natural skin care products, medicine, vitamins, etc. The produce section is limited but it is what you would expect of a store this size. I will definitely go here when I don't feel like going to the bigger chain stores. Great option! read more

What a lovely store! Apparently they've been around for like 18 years but I never noticed them until they moved into their new (current) location. The store is JAM PACKED with products, making it somewhat difficult to navigate aisles when the store is crowded, but I really appreciate their effort to offer as many products as possible. Some items (such as out of season organic berries) were quite price, as expected, but most items were priced pretty on par with other places. They also had deals galore on certain items so I stocked up on organic pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, juice, and other items that were marked down to really good prices. All the staff was super helpful and friendly and the store really had a tremendous selection of just about everything one could imagine (though not much prepared food). They have tons of vegetarian and vegan items, boxed, canned, jarred, and frozen goods, plus an impressive fresh produce section, which included many organic items. A real gem in this neighborhood in particular. read more

Good selection of items that health-conscious people like me would love. It is packed full of organic and GMO-free items such as natural peanut butters, various organic flours, bars, cereals, an entire isle for vitamins and supplements, a refrigerated section for vegetarian friendly foods like Tofu-turkey, and all natural body and hair products. As for all organic or natural products and foods, the items ARE expensive. A jar of peanut butter can run as "low" as $7 here, but hey if you're a health nut it's worth not eating partially hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup. One down side is that the store can get a little bit messy at times, but not that messy where a customer can't find what he or she needs. The floors and ceilings could be replaced if the store owner wants a aesthetically better looking interior. It also smell musty whenever I'm here. Customer service is fabulous here. If I need help finding an item, the store is full of employees that are glad and nice enough to help you out. The more I come here the more I fall out of love with this store. So it's dingy and not well lit. Meh, I can deal with hole in the wall stores, whatever. Besides, we're not in manhattan. But the thing I really can't forgive is selling expired/moldy foods. Rotate your stock. Seriously. I've seen so many goods of questionable quality being sold here it makes me really wary of buying something that's not shelf stable. And even when it is: There's no reason to be selling (at full market value) flours that expired last year. None. Good and Natural is a great place to go when you need a tea or tincture and live in the 10462 zip. Most of the Bronx is negleted, but the Pelham Parkway area is being revitalized, & G&N should be patronized. An entire asile for tea and supplements. Fresh fruit and veggies. All manner of soy cheese and foods. Great if you have milk allergies. They have ice cream for milk intolerant and vegan "bacon" Prices are on the high side. But the quality is there, and you get what you pay for. The owners seem to know their stuff, and willl guide you to the section that will suit your needs. Good N Natural is the best choice for health food in the East Bronx. Sure, there are tons of smaller dry/frozen goods Mom & Pop options but if you want fresh ingredients this is the place to go. I've been going to this place since I was in high school, before eating healthy was mainstream. As a vegetarian, it's one of the best places around to go to buy pantry staples (I love the just-add-water falafels and vegan bouillion paste). Honestly, though, the prices aren't so great. Not expensive, per se but just not...competitive. You can buy many of the items here at lower cost in Westchester or Manhattan but if that's not possible, check out the sales specials. I like just wandering the store with my basket and checking out what other patrons are buying. Everyone is really friendly and knowledgeable. really amazing selection of health food, organic produce, and vegan goods. i will never have to order stuff on amazon and feel guilty over the extra unnecessary packaging, and i don't have to go all the way to whole foods when i can support a local business!! just an fyi, if you've never been here before, the store is rather small- more like a normal market than a supermarket. but i am not disappointed as it is packed to the brim with all the good stuff!! im making this a regular place to shop at, im a little far but it's worth it. better organic section than morton williams on kingsbridge :) read more

The Bronx needs more places like this and less like Key Food and C-Town/Green Apple. I purchase Almond Milk, snacks, and the occasional cold food regularly. They do not disappoint. There is one cashier that is a bit older and takes her time so be mindful of that. We deserve access to healthy food and not be controlled by the big food industries and supermarkets. Some reviewers are asking for Trader Joe's and I've lobbied for one for the last 5years-- Joe isn't coming to save us. There's a reason the Bronx is one of the most obese places in NY state.
