Without going into full details I had my first issue after 23 years of shopping in there. Well nothing was getting done so I called customer service and spoke to Sylvia and in less than 20 minutes walked over and situation was resolved. I ordered groceries through Uber Eats, but the order never arrived at my address. It seems that it was stolen. I called Foodtown the manager was extremely unhelpful, did not even offer to investigate. Uber Eats also declined to help, so I lost my purchase. The screenshot shows that the pickup and delivery address where the same this was an Uber Eats glitch on the app. It did not tag my home address by default!!!. Any honest person would have given me a call. Sadly, there is zero accountability these days. I will never shop at Foodtown again. read more

This is like supermarket heaven! The perfect supermarket where you can find everything you'll possibly need. I try and follow a healthy diet so food shopping can be hard around my way as there's not much options to buy from aside from the basic ingredients. My trainer recommended this supermarket to expand my food options. This place has a lot of organic food items, and dietary items. Good and fair prices. I found low carb noodles and black bean noodles for $3! Veggies are also at a very low price. There's cooked food items available for purchase. They also have all halo top ice cream flavors! If you have yet to try halo top, go for it! It's the best low calorie ice cream out there. This is now my new go to supermarket. read more

This is one of the cleanest, well organized, pleasant looking supermarkets, nicely lit. Their fruits & vegetables are very fresh. The beer section even has a rating system on each brand courtesy of ratebeer.com. I love coming to this store to pick up a few dolmades, salads & cannoli. Prices are OK, not many items in this store go on special. But, they are well stocked and neatly shelved. Overall, every time I shop at this store, it's always a pleasant experience. Dear Foodtown, If you're only going to sell gross, farm raised salmon for $10 per fillet, do you think you could trouble yourself to at least SCALE THE FISH?? As I stood at my kitchen sink scaling a fillet, I couldn't believe that a place would sell fish that had scales still! My first food shopping experience in the Bronx for a apatheic dead soul friend (nothing beyond) were going to display his cooking talent to me--oh, excuse me Riverdale, NY. It sits within walking distance on the #1 train at the 231st station. This supermarket is a good size although it needs a major overhaul cosmetic structural renovation in the decor and floors appears somewhat shabby with a very rustic look. The selection is decent for major brand name products. The Italian pasta sauce aisle is surprisingly well stock with major brand names as Pegro, Classico, Rao, Paul Newman, Emeril Lagasse's, Bertoli's, Ragú which reminisce me of Super Stop & Shop, the ultimate supermarket. read more

Place is clean, there is a variety of products but you always have to be careful, because prices are kind of high, watch out with the specials must of the time they place the product in a different place, you always have to be looking that the register that the price is right. A really good clean supermarket in the neighborhood. Ok sales, they have a food area where you can buy hot food. Pick up something to drink. They have a small area where they sell fresh handmade sushi. It is refrigerated, of course to keep fresh. They have a place where you can buy their food that they made, but put it in a refrigerated area as well. So you can but hot food or cold. They food is all that bad either. They have a deli with so many varieties to choose from. The music they play in the store, I love because most stores in the bronx, always play some type of Latin music. Thats fine, but its like everywhere. Its nice to shop in a store that you feel you can come inside and its clean and your just bobbing your head or singing along to the music as you shop. It just changes your whole vibe. I love it. I really like to shop here. They have fresh veggies and fruit, and it sprays water often keeping everything clean. This really is a gem, to have in the neighborhood, I don't always like to go to stop and shop, or bjs, sometimes you just want variety. This here is a good one. read more

That's where I shop. Small store with great selections and some international foods also. Prices are fair, they have free delivery, which is great for me! The deli is wonderful, clean glass and counter, so you can really see the prepared salads, meats and cheeses. Helpful staff, very pleasant too. There's help throughout the store if you require assistance. Vegetables are fresh and a large variety to choose from! The beer variety is wonderful also, international and domestic. You will find a lot of unique beers from all over the world (Germany,France,Russia to name a few countries). They have single beers here too but they are like the family style of those beers so expect to pay more for the size. This supermarket also carries hard root-beer (not your fathers root beer,coney island). "Produce, fruits, all of the above" This location is really spacious and you will able to find just about any products your looking for, your able to find even international products from other countries as well! They offer a meat section where you can tell one of the deli guys to cut what ever pounds of meats you would like. "Coupons and deals..." As terms of the deals that go on here the best advice I can suggest would have to be to sign up to a member ship, (which is free) and you will be able to save a lot of money during ur trips here. During the holidays you will be able to use those reward points towards a turkey of your choice usually. This is probably the best supermarket I have been to in the Bronx. Keep in mind that isn't saying much normally, but this place is really good. In the last few years I had been spoiled by the Giant supermarkets in PA (literally the franchise is named Giant), and I was not very hopeful about finding a Bronx supermarket that compares. I mean I grew up here... I know a lot of area supermarkets aren't terribly clean, some are pretty small, others have sawdust on the floor, and even a few have cats.., freakin' cats, like I don't know what they are around for. Luckily this supermarket surprised me. It is pretty clean, it has an excellent selection (which I was not expecting), and overall I can't really complain. The prices are good, the staff isn't obnoxious like at a lot of neighborhood supermarkets, and unlike most other area supermarkets I can actually find what I'm looking for. There is no kinda sorta the same thing going on here, or substituting brands, they carry just about everything you need. For those of you who don't feel like it is a reasonable walk to this place there is a downside... no parking lot. If you're driving you'll have to find a spot near Broadway... oh fun. If you're a strap hanger and you aren't going to be carrying a lot you're in luck though. This supermarket is right next to a subway stop and 5, that's right 5, bus routes. The 1 train, the Bx 1, the Bx 7, the Bx 9, the Bx 10, and the Bx 20. I think that's everything. Pretty conveniently located if you hate the closest market to you, like I do. Normally I'll just grab a few essentials and bring a bag to carry everything in after a trip to the gym. Maybe if you're getting off the subway after work this could be a convenient stop for you as well. I normally wouldn't review a chain like Foodtown but this one really stands out. Kingsbridge has become such a cool neighborhood in recent years and this fits right into that mold. This place has a HUGE beer selection, especially for the area. I lived in Kingsbridge for 5 years and this was the first place nearby to carry such a selection. Garden Gourmet used to have some, but not nearly this much and have since gone with just a few measly big brews. Foodtown has a good bakery section as well as a good deli with an assortment of fine cheeses and meats. They have a hot food bar which is better than most you'd encounter. You have a better chance of finding hard to get items here than you would at other spots in the Bronx. The best part about this place, aside from the beer, was the staff. Cashiers were so friendly. When my wife was pregnant, they'd always have someone to help her out to the car or cab with the bags. That's rare in New York. read more

There's people in the area who are barely making ends meet to feed their family. Again as I stated in previous post, there's supermarkets that give you choices on free items choose from after spending $50 or more. Here you can spend $50 or more, and they still want you to pay $5 more or so to receive a 20 lb bag of Carolina rice. SMH This area isn't the real Riverdale area it's still surrounding Kingsbridge area of the Bronx. Nothing but housing projects around meaning it's low-middle class people living in the area. Not richy rich people like those living deep into Riverdale or like they swear the area is(Park Avenue in Manhattan with there expensive prices on foods and can goods etc..). read more

I have to say; they resolved my problem very quickly. They gave me a rain check for the eggs since I'd bought other eggs already for this week. Apparently that was not policy. Also; I found out that they DO accept the internet coupons from their own website. They simply load onto your Foodtown card and then deduct at the register when your card is swiped. Went to Foodtown in Riverdale today to get a small modicum of groceries including a large glass gallon of milk before the incoming storm we're expected to get. The lady at the check-out register packed the bag with the milk too heavily at the bottom of the grocery bag and did not double-bag it. When I walked barely two feet out of the store, the entire bag ripped apart, and the glass gallon completely broke. I cut myself on the glass trying to get all the groceries out of the bag now completely swimming in milk all over the sidewalk. All our groceries were soaked. When I went back into the store to ask for a replacement for the milk, showing the bag and the broken bottle (and the bloody finger!) the manager at first didn't believe me, then claimed the cashier didn't pack the bag herself, then said that the bag breaking was "Not my problem, not my fault", refused to even apologize for it happening, and had an incredibly nasty attitude towards me. He then walked away from me and refused to engage further. A little old lady who had been outside when my bag broke came to back me up and said the other manager, not the one I dealt with, would have been much nicer and apologetic. This manager was nasty, defiant, and completely cold with me, completely unprofessional. I will NEVER shop there again. However, I WILL give major props to the (many!) people around me who saw me struggling with the mess on the sidewalk and offered to help me, to help clean it up, and several folks gave me some extra plastic bags to put the displaced groceries into. My faith in humanity has been temporarily restored, but not in managers. *grrr* Even if he genuinely could not refund me/replace the milk, he could have at least been more apologetic and pleasant. He was a jerk to me instead, and lost a customer. Telling a complaining customer "It's not my problem" is the epitome of bad customer service. read more

Overall, the prices in the store are reasonable, especially if you use your card and peruse the weekly circular (available online). They also have a stunning craft beer selection, complete with ratings from Beeradvocate.com. When my beer loving friends stop by, we always venture here to grab a bottle of some fine microbrews. The staff is incredibly friendly and personable. I'm surprised how many of them know me by name, considering the number of people who shop here. The inside of the store is spotless, well organized, and bright. Also, I've never had to wait in line for more than a few minutes to check out. They always have plenty of staff and lines open. I used to shop there about two or three times a week. I will never shop there again. Last Thanksgiving, I was given a coupon for a $10 gift card when I checked out. The cashier told me, but I couldn't understand what she was saying so I was like "ok, whatever" and I just took the receipt coupon and left. When I got home, I realized what it was and decided to go back and redeem the coupon. I went back about an hour later to redeem the coupon. I was told the coupon had already been redeemed. That's impossible. I spoke to the manager he said "Well maybe somebody in your family redeemed it" That's also pretty impossible since I had just gotten the coupon an hour earlier and it stayed in my purse the entire time. I felt like he was basically calling me a liar. I sent an email to the company complaining and never got a response. I didn't really want anything but an acknowledgement to my complaint. Needless to say, I haven't shopped there since. I walk past Food Town two or three times a week now on my way to Stop and Shop or Garden Gourmet. They give coupons and don't honor them! read more

This is by far, the cleanest, nicest, Foodtown supermarket I have been to. Everything is organized! There' s also sushi! I never was crazy about market sushi...yet sushi here is different. It doesn't taste stale, rice is firm, but moist. More importantly, the fish is fresh, with a super sushi grade consistency. I found out the sushi is made on premise freshly almost every hour, every day. The sushi chef is new to the area, but have restaurant experience over 6 years. He even have new theme rolls every now and then: sweet potato roll, the Bronx roll, Riverdale roll, the volcano, the shrimp tempera roll is my favorite at $5.99 for 10 pieces!!! Californi roll starts at $4~$9.99 and up for customized, special rolls. You pay half of restaurant price! Another thing is if you have 2 minutes, then you can order your favorite roll, shop, pick up then pay: no need to waste time you already don't have.There's even sushi platters available for your office, home, parties, or any special occasions at an awesome price. If you haven't tried sushi, this is a good opprtunity to find out if you have the taste of likings for it, without wasting a fortune. It doesn't taste anything like airport, hospital sushi. My wife and I live in upper Manhattan near Broadway and Nagle (Fort George Post Office area). We were on our way to Garden Gourmet one day and noticed that the Food Town renovated so we stopped in. Wow - what a difference! The selections and the quality are great. I am really impressed by the service as well. We pass by a lot of markets on our way to buy groceries and the only thing I can tell you is that this is our new home grocery store! A couple of suggestions please: turn down the music (so that two people shopping together don't have to shout); and, can you please offer delivery into Manhattan? Keep up the great work! read more

Tried the Sushi, and it just plain awful, I am not even going to try the prepared foods. It wouild be beneficial if they just carried fresh foods and stoped the sales tactics and gimmicks. Within the last year, Foodtown was renovated- very nice! They are right off the 1 train and remain my favorite grocery store in the neighborhood (wayyy better than the Stop and Shop down the road). They have everything you would want in a grocery store plus some fancy cheese/meats... a buffet with hot food in case you don't want to make dinner.. really nice deli guys, a good selection of meats and fresh, well stocked produce. read more

Staff is very courteous and helpful but the prices are not cheap and the produce is not very good quality.

This is a regular stop when I'm out food shopping. The changes that have been made to the store make it much cleaner than it was. It has a good selection of Bob's Red Mill products. Unlike other recent reviewers I find many items are expensive. I do most of my vegetable shopping at the small vegetable place on 231 St., near the uptown subway elevator. I do find some reasonable items every time I shop and that's why I do go in here. read more
