We visit this facility once a year for Fall Regional for our Taekwondo Tournament (American…read moreTaekwondo Association). The place is HUGE! It's the first full-sized outdoor field positioned under a clear-span forty foot roof in Chicago's South Suburbs. At 125,000 square feet, the "MAX" incorporates 79,000 square feet of turf, two full-sized basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a baseball/softball academy. The entire building is climate controlled - both heat and air-conditioning - to allow for comfortable year-round usage. The field house accommodate private and public sports (clubs) like soccer, lacrosse, football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, kickball, and dodge ball. They also have a spectator mezzanine which allows for terrific sight-lines from all locations and a relaxed, roomy environment for the players, coaches and spectators. During our day long event we had lunch at the concession stand but a vending area is also available. One of the cool thing I learned about the MAX was it can be rented for birthday parties. You book the party, pay the rental fee, get a party coordinator, bring a cake, pick a concession package and let the kids run themselves to sleep. Check out the website for on going events, academies, and league information.

They have decent hours to come workout. The locker room is also kept nice and clean, and has lockers that you can self-program daily so you don't need to bring a lock! I have showered there- the water is hot and the pressure was good but the curtain is way too small for the shower! There was no way to have full coverage so I ended up doing a little dance to stay hidden the whole time I showered. I don't think many use the showers so it wasn't like I was seen by anyone, thankfully. They do not offer towels, so bring your own for showering! They offer some good classes with nice variety too- arrive early to guarantee your spot! (You will get a colored ticket to claim your spot in class). The fitness studios, though, get way too cramped due to the popularity of classes. I would think they should just offer less tickets to class or try to move them to one of the park district studio areas or basketball court! It's a great place overall and a great deal on price per month too.

Years ago, before she was my doctor, Dr. Wu and I crossed paths regularly through mutual…read moreacquaintances. After I learned she's both a medical doctor (MD) and a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, I scheduled my first appointment with her. She's been my primary doctor ever since. I recently saw her for my annual physical, and, as always, I came away with a detailed, mutually-agreed upon plan for staying on top of my key health priorities. That's one of the things I most appreciate about Dr. Wu: she strategizes with me on my health plan. She's a mindful listener, giving me the opportunity to fully explain my symptoms and health concerns. That's followed by discussion of her treatment recommendations, and she consistently checks-in to get my feedback on those recommendations. So I always feel I'm being presented with treatment options, not directives. The end result: a solid plan for my ongoing good health. In addition to this partnership in health, I genuinely feel Dr. Wu embodies all of the best qualities of a great doctor: patience, intelligence, in-depth knowledge, active listening, high-energy, and a congenial bedside manner. And she does all of this while combining the best of Western and Eastern healing practices in a holistic manner. A terrific person and a talented healer, I highly recommend Dr. Wu.
