An excellent Chardonnay and a Zinfandel was really good as well!

Good wine. Great atmosphere! We were staying in Mendocino and chose one winery to visit and this was it. A good choice. The wine's really good here. We ended up buying a couple bottles. Kim and the owner took really good care of us and was accommodating to our dogs. You're welcome to walk part of the vineyard, but I would check with the staff first. Beautiful grounds. Actually it was a little rainy that day so we didn't really walk the vineyard but that would have been cool. Kim was also able to recommend a really good restaurant for my birthday and it did not disappoint.

I might not have the most sophisticated wine palette but I know what I like. And it seems that I like Lula Cellars. My friend and I stopped in here for a wine tasting yesterday and were warmly welcomed. We had made an appointment and arrived on time but as it happened, three other parties who did not have appointments arrived just after us and were seated. That made it busy and certainly improved the vibe of this small space. Kim was our tasting host and he's just super. Friendly, knowledgeable about the vineyard and the wines and just a great person to spend time with. We also got to meet the vintner Ken and learn the history of Lula, where it came from, what's coming soon and where this great wine is headed. And while my tastes might be the most sophisticated, it turned out that my favorite of the tasting was the Pinot that was the most expensive and priced at $71. Uh, yeah. So we bought two less expensive wines for $25 or so and they were both quite excellent. We enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc that evening with a seafood dinner in Noyo Harbor. Lula does not have food on site, so they are dog friendly. The tasting room is adjacent to their acres of vineyards, so there are some great photo opportunities. And for the moment at least, it is the furthest north tasting room in Sonoma so definitely check it out! [Review 17316 overall - 320 in California - 834 of 2022.]

Great vibes and super dog friendly. You'll get chatted up by one or three of the old timers working the outdoor tasting room - don't hesitate to 'revisit' your favorite wines. My favorite were the Pinots - which makes sense given that Anderson valley produces the most Pinot in the world. Nearby- you'll find a pond and pretty walking trail to enjoy with your honey and or doggie. Definitely will stop by this place when cruising back to Anderson valley in may for their Pinot festival.

Our favorite winery experience in the Anderson Valley - they combine great wine with a laid back, rustic (probably not the right word - I'm thinking back to how Napa in the 90s, maybe it's "less amusement park" like)... one the best Pinots we had on the trip. Manager is extremely witty / funny and a character. Glad he recommended we take our wine and walk around the vineyard. Was beautiful.

Lula Cellars is a quaint vineyard located at the "deep end" of Anderson Valley. They produce mainly Pinot Noirs and, during our visit, offered an estate Gewurtzraminer which was more on the dry side. It was nice. The tastings are $10 and the pours are generous. Shout out to Anastasia for being hospitable. Definitely worth considering when visiting the valley.

It's harvest time for Pinot noir grapes!

Stop in for a friendly and affordable tasting! Lots of parking. Free mini water bottles. Dog friendly!

Great place, fantastic service and excellent wine . We will definitely come back here again.

Lula, Lula, tell me what's good?! Well, everything of course! Actually, let me make a correction; everything is GREAT here! Faaantastic to be exact. The total definition of small and intimate. Lula Cellars is so much FUN! Came here after attending the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival and had an absolute BLAST! Hats off the Dan and Carol! They were such great hosts and kept us entertained until closing time. What you'll receive here is true personable service. Their estate is set right on the edge of Navarro and overlooks the serene Mendocino Valley. The tasting room is quaint and cozy; a total breath of fresh air from the larger wineries nearby. Not that I don't love larger wineries, but it's always enjoyable to embark on a more intimate experience. Lula is the land of the Pinot. Award winning Pinot Noirs line their tasting menu, as they should. Their Pinot Noirs are scrumptious! Best of all, they've got a Pinot to suit just about anyone. From your fruit forward and jammy varieties to your more earthy and spicy types, Lula's Pinots show so much range and versatility. I personally enjoyed all of them. Don't count their other wine offerings out! They also make a tasty Gewürztraminer, Rosé of Pinot, and a mean Guntly Red Blend which I had to purchase because I enjoyed it so much. For the quality of the wine that you'll receive, their bottle prices are extremely reasonable. This tasting room has such a relaxed and casual demeanor. You can come here knowing that you'll truly be able to enjoy yourself and all that Lula has to offer. Lula has been one of my favorite Anderson Valley wineries to visit, and I'm excited to visit them again during my next trip out to Mendocino.

Loved, loved, loved our wine tasting experience at Lula. Super dog friendly, great staff, beautiful location and yummy wine! Rochelle loved meeting new doggy friends and we took home the stars & stripes special, 2 bottles each of the delicious sauv blanc and the Guntly red. We also appreciated the very reasonable tasting fee that was waived with our purchase. Looking forward to our next visit.

We very much enjoyed Lula Cellars during Pinot Fest 2021! The atmosphere was super relaxed and friendly, the winemaker came over multiple times to ask how we were liking the wines and to give information, and there is the sweetest dog who lives there, roaming around and escorting guests on their walks around the vineyard! We had a wine and food pairing and enjoyed the wines so much that we ended up purchasing three bottles to take home!

On the drive from the Bay Area to the Mendocino coast, you have options on routes to take. But the…read moremost delicious is following the winding road through Anderson Valley wine region which is replete with wineries and eateries along the entire stretch of this Northern California appellation. And towards the northern extreme of the valley are the spectacular vineyards of Roederer Estates and the home of some of the best sparkling wines in Northern California. Situated atop a hill with a commanding view of the vineyards, valley, and surrounding mountains, Roederer has a beautifully modern tasting room and new outdoor patio with abundant seating and umbrellas for shade. On the day we visited it was 81F outside in the sun, but thanks to the natural air conditioning of a Pacific breeze from the coast, it was super comfortable on the deck. Roederer has everything from traditional tastings of various house wines (mixed vintages, estate reserve, and flights) to wines by the glass to bottles if you are in the mood. Prices vary by vintage, but begin around $18 for a glass and go up. Tastings begin at $35. Bottles begin at $40. Members of wine clubs receive an approximate 20% discount on bottles and tastings. In addition to wines, a limited but nicely curated selection of nibbles are available (think Marcona almonds, olives, prosciutto and cheeses, and duck rillettes, but if you're feeling indulgent they also offer a variety of Tzar Nikolai caviar options that can break the bank). We ordered the duck rillettes which were yummy, albeit a very small portion and not house made. Also, they did not come with crackers, which were an additional charge. This was our only gripe, because do people just eat the rillettes straight out of the jar with a knife?!? But that aside, we loved our sparkling wine selection (a bottle of Brut rosé) and the casual luxury of enjoying our bottle on the outside patio during a gorgeous summer afternoon. Service was quick, attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly, but not hovering or overbearing. Perfect balance. If you want to experience the best of Anderson Valley in Mendocino County, be sure not to miss this gem of a winery.

A poorly managed, lazy business hiding behind a beautiful landscape…read more My wife and I were in Mendocino for a family trip/mini honeymoon. Friday afternoon, we decided to venture out toward Philo to explore the vineyards in the area and stop by for some wine tastings. Roederer caught our eye off Hwy 128, so our group of 4 decided to go for a quick glass to enjoy the beautiful view. Enticed by the large door and expansive patio, we walked in to order our wines around 4:25pm. A taller long haired man greeted us with "Hey, sorry we're at full capacity" was our greeting. No hello, no welcome to our estate. I let him know we just stopped by for a glass and were not there for a full tasting. Uninterested, he just repeated that they were at capacity and finished for the day. Their hours state that they close at 5, and rejecting 1 glass of wine at 30 minutes before closing seems absurd and rather lazy to me. Let the photos speak for themselves...half of the interior tables being available, along with half the exterior being available meant full capacity. There are an abundance of family run and established vineyards all throughout the Anderson valley. DO NOT waste your time coming to Roederer Estate.

Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival

(1 review)

Been wanting to attend the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Fest for a while now, and I have to say that…read morethe experience was really fun! This year, the festival featured wines from over 50 different wineries. What's interesting is that many of the participating wineries are actually located outside of Anderson Valley, but they also have vineyards here. Who would have thunk it? There were some big name wineries in the house including Ferrari-Carano, Kendall-Jackson, and La Crema. Of course, the Anderson Valley favorites such as Navarro, Toulouse, and Goldeneye. There were also lots of small boutique wineries and tasting rooms in tow like Black Kite, Smith Story, and Thomas T Thomas Vineyards. So many wineries and so little time! I would have loved to have tasted all of the wines, but I'm sure nobody wanted to see me sprawled out on the floor from the attempts. The event was held at the beautiful Camp Navarro out in the middle of the woods! This camp is absolutely GORGEOUS and surrounded by the most stunning Redwoods. In previous years, the festival had been held at Goldeneye Winery until it got too big for its' britches. Unfortunately, it was raining cats and dogs and everyone was packed in tight inside of large tents. They did the best that they could with what they were given, but it was extremely wet and muddy pretty much everywhere. The wine was good but the FOOD was even better!!! I can't remember the all the names of the restaurants (you know it goes when you've been drankin'), but they definitely showed up and showed OUT! Boont Berry had an amazing coleslaw and kale Caesar salad! The pizza from Piaci was to die for! So good! Loved the sliders from Poleeko Steakhouse too. They had an incredible cheese spread going on in the tasting area too. There was definitely no shortage of food. Can't remember every wine that I tried because I tried too damn many, but a few of the standouts: *Black Kite Cellars *Maggy Hawk *Foursight Wines *Siduri *Roederer Estate *Toulouse Vineyards So many delicious wines! The highlight for me was attending the open houses on Sunday with the wine and food pairings! Such an amazing experience and great exposure for the Anderson Valley which is one of that best wine tasting regions in my opinion. Would I go again? For sure, but probably not every single year personally. I wished that the weather would have turned out a lot nicer but I still enjoyed myself. If you're looking to explore the wines of Anderson Valley in depth, attending the Pinot Noir Fest is a great way to do so.
