Whether you need a little…read moreassistance with mulching, planting or irrigation; or help with a larger project, like building a retaining wall out of stone, or providing a total makeover to your yard and landscape, the crew at Earthworks can't be beat. The husband-wife owner team have been doing great business for many years in the Eugene area, and have gained some fiercely loyal and long term customers. Joe, one of the owners, is so knowledgeable about plants and I have benefited greatly from his advice when planning my yard and landscape with hedges, year round ground covers and low maintenance shrubbery. Their stonework is really high quality and well constructed. I appreciate the company's sense of environmentalism; using sustainable methods, native plants, and no toxic chemicals. The crews and service provided aren't cheap but the quality of the work is top notch. Before you commence in planning a huge outdoor revamp, or perhaps you know what you want and just need help with the execution of your visions, Earthworks is great to work with. They are very efficient, hard working, and respectful when working around existing plants or gardens. Friendly and professional and brimming with energy, I HIGHLY recommend Earthworks for all your landscape needs!!

He and Cathy did a wonderful little design in our back yard last summer. Our back yard is south facing so the plants needed to be tolerant of quite a bit of heat during the summer months. There's no way I would've known what species of plant would do well or not. Only a couple of plants failed and they've even promised to replace them this Spring! If you're looking for folks who listen their customer and know their stuff, I couldn't recommend Joe and Cathy more!

Wait, have I not written a review of Better Lawns and Gardens yet? I love Better Lawns and Gardens!…read more A few years back when we bought our house, which was newly built and had no garden, we had a hard time find a landscaper. Instead I decided to just hiring a yard maintenance company, and work with them. The first guy I called was George, from Better Lawns, and I hit the jackpot! The Better Lawns crew (usually George plus one of his employees) do a fantastic job maintaining our garden, including when we've been away for extended periods. He's given me extensive planting advice, will finish any hard work that I left undone because I got lazy, and he keeps up very well with any weeds, trimming, and so on. He's also given us great recommendations for getting our irrigation systems installed, and he now ensures that it is maintained (because, as you'll see from my story further down, I know nothing about having to drain them and such). George has even driven me to nurseries and around different neighborhoods to look at various plant options, so I could get a better idea of what plants actually look like once they've matured. And if I buy something at a nursery, I can just give him a call and he'll pick it up and bring it home for me! We've had George "on call" for us too when we were living in a different state for a while and our house stood empty. One cold, early winter morning, when an irrigation pipe burst from frost, our neighbor didn't even need to go through us first, he simply called George right away, who showed up, fixed the problem, and got in touch with us! I'm so thankful for everything George has done for us, and you couldn't find a nicer guy, he's so sweet. I highly recommend Better Lawns and Gardens.

Oregon Grading Service was prompt, responsive, and knowledgeable. They came out, gave a free estimate, were very friendly, and provided two estimates: one to excavate and completely re-layer the driveway with 3-4 inches of gravel. The second was to scrape the surface, deliver new gravel, and level and grade the driveway (basically a reset). I went with the second option.
