I brought my vehicle in expecting trustworthy service and left with a car that's been completely tampered with, in worse condition than when I dropped it off . They charged me for work they didn't complete, made things worse under the hood, and now my vehicle has been sitting for over two months, completely undrivable. AAA mechanics refused to work on it because the damage and tampering were so severe, even recommending I take it straight to the Jeep dealership due to how messed up things are. This morning I took my 2008 Nissan Versa into the Nissan dealership in Brandon for an oil change…read moreand because it was making a very loud noise/rattling. I normally don't get my oil changed at a dealership, but because of the noise I thought it would be a good idea to take it there plus it's very close by. Now, when I got there they were great. They listened to me and I explained that my car sounded more like my husband's sports car with an aftermarket exhaust on it - not the way my car should sound - and so I thought it was likely an issue with the muffler. I was thinking that maybe I'd hit a bump on a road and popped something loose. I dropped my car off and did a little research on issues with my make and model. Apparently the metal used for the exhaust and muffler has a tendency to rust over (which is an issue in and of itself) and people have had to get them replaced sooner rather than later. People were saying that it was generally a $400-$500 fix, so I was bracing myself for the worst. About five hours later I got a phone call saying that, yes, my exhaust was in fact rusted and broken and that it would be $2,200 to fix it. Now, this is about 25% of the value of my car so naturally I freaked out. Fortunately my husband is fairly handy with cars and had actually changed out his own exhaust on his car when he got it, but since we live in an apartment complex it's been more difficult for him to do auto work. He said that he thought he could get the complete system for under $400 and replace it himself. He ended up calling Huff Muffler in Brandon and talking to the guy there. He explained it as best he could not having seen anything more than the photos that Nissan took and emailed to me so that I could send them to him at work. He told my husband to bring it in and that it was likely going to be about $100, but at most $250 to repair the exhaust. I took it in and showed them the pictures. They said it would be a $40 fix and would take them less than 30 minutes to fix. Nissan wanted to replace the entire system when only one part needed to be repaired. My car sounds perfect again. They do all kinds of repairs and maintenance including oil changes and what not. They are family owned and operated and they are AWESOME. I highly, highly recommend them. For starters, the customer service is consistently top of the line. If for some reason they miss your call, they call you back promptly even if you didn't leave a voice message.
