Luigi's is a typical Italian restaurant in England. It has the red table covers, operatic arias in the background and wine bottles on display.
Mains were just OK, and I had the Boscaiola (courgettes and mushrooms in a creamy tomato sauce) and my family had the Pescatore (salmon and prawns). Nothing fantastic, but definitely Italian. The toffee sponge pudding was rich and moist, just how I liked it, but the ice cream on top was a bit rubbish.
Service was efficient and polite enough, although you could tell that some of the waitresses wanted to get their shifts over and done with soon enough!
Looking at restaurants nearby, this was definitely not our first choice (there were more exciting options to eat in), but at £8.95 a main, this was marginally cheaper than the surrounding eateries.
Good for a quick eat, but won't blow you away. read more
