A zipper broke on the removable cover on my son's baseball catcher's bag. Anyone who has a child in baseball/softball knows gear can be expensive, especially anything having to do with catcher's gear. We had won the bag in a raffle, and it is expensive to replace (about $200). So I took it down to Luggage Service to see if it could be repaired. The owner was there and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He understood the issue immediately and explained my options. Instead of recommending the most expensive fix (replacing the entire zipper), he recommended permanently attaching the cover to the bag with a piece of leather at the detachment point where the zipper was broken ($30). He said that it's the most economical option and would make the zipper more "boy proof." He said to leave it with him and it would be done in a couple of hours. When I returned a couple of hours later, the bag was behind the counter and his daughter greeted me as soon as I walked in. If you go onto their website, the business has an incredible 107 year history in Tampa with several photos of how the company grew over the century and the historic buildings they occupied. I was holding the paid tickets in my hand and with a rude tone, those stay here. How about this Bob, maybe you should have said it in a nicer tone and had a nice conversation how great the pull handles work now. CUSTOMER SERVICE, $198.00 for 2 used pull handles I would have expected some kindness. No bedside manners. I brought in two Brighton roller bags to have pull handles replaced. Whoever did the work did an outstanding job and I appreciate that. Today I brought in my husband's 3 suitcase Travel Pro set for repair. The suitcases had some wear and tear from all of his traveling - A missing handle, two other handles that were crumbling away and one wheel that was gouged and nicked. They fixed all of the broken pieces and I was able to pick them up a couple of hours later. So service is A+ if you ask me. My husband decided to replace the black handles with the brown ones that they already had in stock and he really likes the differentiating color for when he's at baggage claim - easier to identify! This is a multi-generational family-run business. It was started by a Great-grandfather and has been passed down to each generation. I loved everything about this unique store. On the wall there are portraits and photos of the Papa and Grandpapa. I loved the variety of the luggage selection (for sale) right down to the music they play in the store, The people are knowledgable and service oriented. They carry all kinds of travel accessories too - backpacks, etc. It is well worth the visit. This is more than just a luggage store. I had a gazillion questions. They took my name and contact information and within a week Samsonite reached out and informed me they no longer made the series of Luggage but I could use the $600.00 voucher to select another piece. I was able to use the voucher and select a piece of luggage at the Luggage Service Store and was too happy to do so. This cost me nothing but the time. Time well spent. These folks do not try and take advantage of people but have generations of knowledge and luggage is priced so reasonable that it fits every pocket range from $20.00-$1100.00 and they can price match. Get out of the mall stores, get off line and visit this uniquely diverse Luggage Repair Center that also sells luggage and Luggage accessories. When I Googled for guitar case repair, someone posted to try a luggage repair company. Excellent work repairing my Taylor guitar case by replacing the original (cheap) hinges with American made steel hinges, and adding feet where needed that Taylor did not install. Not having feet installed on the outside of the caused the guitar case to rest on the original hinges which caused the hinges to fail. Total price for the repair was $100, and it was well worth it! Keeping the original hard shell case with my guitar is critical if I choose to sell my guitar in the future, and buying a replacement guitar case would have been very expensive. read more

After dragging a broken backpack around for half a year trying to find somewhere to get the zipper fixed, I finally found this place - located a mile from my home - hah! The place used to be a dry cleaner, I think, but now it just looks like a fortress on the outside, with no windows and the front door gated & locked. But inside it was clean and bright, and much bigger than expected. They clearly have everything a traveler could need. Every size suitcase, and every travel accessory imaginable. In addition to dropping off my backpack, I also picked up a luggage tag and shoe covers. I was told my backpack didn't need a zipper replacement, just the piece that moves along the zipper. They told me it would be ready on Wednesday, and it was ready when I arrived. It now works perfectly! I'm just sorry it took me so long to come here. read more

Wow! Had an old lawyer's leather briefcase that I wanted to rehab for my son who is in grad school. The 'binding' around the edges had scuffed and in some spots worn away -- a real #$% show. The folks at luggage service discussed what needed to be done, what I could do as a next level, and then platinum level. Long story short, it came back beautiful, lustrous but with the timbre of age. I was referred to this place from another business that couldn't do this type of repair due to the special equipment needed. When I arrived I was promptly greeted and ask what I needed. I talked to this one gentleman named Josh and explained wha I needed repaired. I have a black leather duffel bag which I've had for many years and still love using. I asked Josh if he could repair the leather handle and reattach it to my bag. He took the bag and replaced the rivets within about 10 minutes and gave me some tips about not overloading it. The wheels on my large scrapbooking bag disintegrated causing the bag non-usable. I looked online for luggage repair shops and this place was 1 of 2 within 1.5 hour drive. Good thing for GPS as I have no sense of direction and probably would have never found this place. They service Samsonite luggage and I had warranties on my luggage so they said the broken zipper and wheel were fully covered so no charge. That's a price I always love!!! They have a pretty large store with many refurbished items for sale as well as new and all sizes of luggage, briefcases and travel items. I found a waterproof pouch for my iPhone with a flotation device in it and a lanyard for $9.00. Great deal for a klutz like me who is always dropping thing in pool or ocean. I initially went to Luggage Service to recycle a couple of broken suitcases (I didn't think that they were in condition to donate and I did not want to put them into the ground). However, the price for repairing one my suitcases was reasonable so I ended up getting the zippers and wheels replaced for it. While I waited, I explored the store and was very impressed. They have a huge selection and they price match the Internet. The only reason why I am not giving them 5 stars is because the wheels are not balanced; more time and attention to detail would have prompted them to put bigger wheels on the back and smaller wheels on the front (instead of the other way around). I dropped my Delsey off on Monday for warranty caster replacement and it was sitting on my front porch Wednesday afternoon!
