If you're in a rush this may not be the place for you. It's a laid back diner. The staff was super nice. The food was good. I wouldn't say it was great. But it was solid. The fryer stuff was a little over cooked. They don't do waffles or pancakes after a certain time, which I didn't see listed anywhere, so my kids were a little upset. This little place was great!!!! Has a very homie feeling about. Especially how welcome the people there make you feel as soon as you walk in the door. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Let me tell you when you walk in you smell home cooked meals being prepared. Pies , cinnamon rolls, etc ordered the smothered breakfast burrito and let me tell you the portions are big. This burrito filled up the whole plate. I saved the best for last. Now I have to talk about one of the things that caught my eyes when I walked in. A fresh backed cinnamon roll tray that was at the counter. I got one ASAP it was so soft and gooey. The taste was out of this world. They have pies that I've heard that are amazing. This place..,what a gem, it's exactly what you think of when you think small hometown diner. The staff was very friendly & the food & service was fast. Always a fabulous experience at Lucy's. The hot beef was tender and delicious while the gravy was home cookin' good! Usually I default on the Chicken Fried Steak when I stop at Lucy's (one of the best I've had in the nation!). We stopped here on New Year's Day for breakfast while visiting friends in Julesburg. I tried something new this time and got a sausage breakfast burrito (with all the veggies) smothered in green chili and it was absolutely delicious! A large burrito smothered in flavorful green chili sprinkled with cheese. Since it was New Year's Day they served us traditional black eyed peas with ham for good luck and also had free oranges on all the tables as well. They also brought us a piece of Pina Colada Cake while we were waiting for our food. The service was a little slow but they were fairly busy. And the server was always swinging by the table to see if we needed anything else. We will absolutely be back to this charming, eclectic little diner when we are back in town again. read more

Classic country diner! The food was great. Had eggs, bacon and home fries. The service was exactly what you'd expect in an area like this - you get what you get. They're not here to kiss your ass, they're here to serve you food. And the woman behind the counter talked to me plenty as I sat at the bar for a couple/few hours back and forth today. She refilled my drink for me. They use locally farmed beef and in fact, if I have this right, one of the employees or owner/s has their own cattle. True farm to table, without the pretentious up-charge! So, I've ordered a burger to go, so i'll update tomorrow. I got the last piece of strawberry rhubarb pie to go as well. Right off interstate 76.large parking lot. Had no trouble parking our 5th wheel. Interior is a little outdated but the food was delicious. I had a mushroom and Swiss burger ( they called it the Tyson don't know why) fries were hhot and crisp burger juicy hubby had the hahamburger steak and eggs. Also very good . Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us several times. I would receive Lucy's Place for just plain good ol American food. read more

This is a great place to stop on a road trip. The food was good (much better than the fast food places and truck stops). It was a real breakfast. The people were so kind. That is, it's everything you should hope it to be, and if you aren't happy, you probably need to work on your expectations/entitlement. I think this place is a breakfast place from all of the glowing reviews. Because we had lunch here .... and it is definitely a 2 Star at best. The atmosphere is perfect for an old style diner. Small booths. Cozy inside. You feel like you're at your grandma's and she hasn't redecorated since 1950. We tried to order breakfast but were told they were done. There's no sign or indication they don't serve breakfast all day. It's a diner. I can't tell you how many diners serve breakfast all day. But I was informed they have a small griddle so okay, no breakfast. Not 5 minutes later and another table tried to order breakfast. They should just put up a sign. I ordered the grilled cheese. Pretty safe. You can't mess up a grilled cheese and they didn't. The potato chips were just a bag of chips. The kids and hubby ordered the burgers. They said it had an off taste to it ... so I took a bite. Do you remember those 1980 sirloin TV dinners with the foil you had to make in the oven? These burgers tasted SO much like that. They also faintly reminded me of the burgers my elementary cafeteria used to serve us (which my husband also agreed -- he just couldn't place what the taste reminded him of). So try breakfast at your own risk. But I would skip the lunch shift. read more

We went on a busy Sunday around 1 and waited about 10mins for a table to clear up but they were packed and people kept coming in. We ordered the green chili, patty melt and a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie and DO NOT skip on the green chili or pie. Everything tasted super fresh and homemade and you feel like your transported back in time. The green chili had so much flavor and was very hearty. The patty melt was with delicious rye bread, perfectly cooked onions and good quality beef. The pie was so fresh and filled with flavor I was so happy we got the last slice. DO NOT pass this place up. The Buffalo burger was unreal. Crinkle cut fries cooked perfectly, lightly crunchy with a soft center. Chicken fried steak was very good, Mashed potatoes were creamy and the gravy is excellent. You couldn't ask for any better Pies. We had apple, caramel nut and a regular apple, both warm and a la mode. We got a cinnamon roll to go, I have no doubts that it too will be delicious. The locals have quite a gem here. The food isn't the only thing that'll bring us back every time we're in the area, you'll have no complaints about the service either. The ladies were great! read more

When we arrived, there were flies everywhere. The waitress gave us a fly scattered and we killed 12. The bathrooms were unusable. I ordered Hamburger steak with soup. I never got my soup and the Hamburger was not good. My daughter got a BLT that looked good until she found a hair in it. They made her another one and still charged us for it. We are passing through, so needless to say I won't be back.....just want other travelers to beware. I fell for the 4 star rating......not even close and I love s good hole in the wall. Driving home from across the country we haven't had stellar inexpensive meals right off the highway until we hit Colorado. Locally raised beef and many homemade items. I was debating driving on (stopped to feed the baby quick) but then looked at the reviews and decided to give it a try. It's quaint inside. Food was delicious and came out quickly. Lots of parking. So convenient right off the highway. Service was great. Fed me and my son for $20 and the burgers we got were great. The buns were toasted and delicious. For being in the middle of farmland and not much going on Lucy's exceeded our expectations and I would eat here again anytime. Quickest, best meal we have had in a few days. read more
