    My email

Working with them for a cake quote was inconvenient. I called over the phone, they said to come in but i live far and told them that I can send emails of ideas for a quote. I sent an email inquiry for a cake wanted a price with and without characters. I sent three pictures of similar cakes/designs and asked for a cake quote on those ideas and they said to pick one particular for a quote. Now I've gotten quotes from several other people and everyone was able to give me a quote based off the photos, I don't know why it's so difficult for them to do that so never mind they lost my business. The cakes are delicious but for custom orders I'll look elsewhere. we aren't in dinosaur ages anymore, I don't see why you can't look at 3 cakes that are very similar and put together a vision to give a price and why they keep saying to come in for a quote. Find yourself a cake person who actually uses email, can visualize creativity and put together ideas based of the inspiration you send! Below is what I asked, and their response. What is so hard to understand!

WAS "Golden-yellow" now just BIRD $HIT YELLOW!

I went to place an order on Thursday 21st, the woman in charge of showing the cake books/taking the order is RUDE!.. GHETTO RUDE!!!! I ONLY ordered a cake from this joke of a "professional cake shop" because my mom loves their frosting. I ordered a "shimmer" be added to the cake. I got there to pick it up & no shimmer visible. A Joann took it to the back to have it re-sprayed. Joann/whoever was in the back, just sprayed it over the foil gold leaves on the cake & It made the Golden-Yellow trim frosting look ugly & dull! The cake had frosting that looked like it was drooping! WHAT KIND OF "PROFESSIONAL CAKE DECORATOR" SENDS OUT THIS KIND OF CAKE?! I can't stand this place!

Lucy's messed up the lettering on the cake for my grandson's 1st birthday. It was supposed to say Happy 1st Birthday Rylan

Two weeks prior to our grandson's 1st birthday My wife and I ordered a cake for my grandson's 1st birthday which was on July 14, 2018 The cake was supposed to say: "Happy 1st Birthday Rylan" But instead when my wife showed up to pick it up just 2 hours before the party it said "Happy 1st Ryan" Of course my wife brought this to the attention of the woman that was taking care of her and of course they refuse to admit any kind of fault. When we ordered the cake we went over with the lady that took our order three times what we wanted on the cake. She even read back what we had wanted to be put on the cake and at the time everything seem to okay. The lady that gave us the cake on the 14th was able to put an L to correct his name but nothing else could be done about adding the word birthday. With only 2 hours left till the party we had no other choice but to take the embarrassing "Happy 1st Rylan" We have ordered a few cakes in the past from Lucy's and have never had this issue and were met with the level of disrespect that we were given on this date. This shall be the last cake we order from Lucy's next time will be better off to go to Sam's Club

Years ago I got my UTSA graduation cake there. Since then I have gotten my mom's birthday cake there every year. It's always the same, 8" round with pineapple filling and red roses. I haven't been disappointed. The cakes are good, not too sweet and always fresh.

    Delicious cupcakes to go!

I usually make my own homemade cakes for special occasions, but if I don't have the time to make one, Lucy's is my to go to destination. They are reasonably priced and their cakes are delicious! My family and I have used them before since I was a kid, and they still taste as great as I can remember. This location isn't the main bakery located off 410. Here you place the order and they bring your order back here when its ready. They also sell a lot of baking pans, supplies, and decorations for all your baking needs at a cheaper cost than most baking supply stores. They also sell fresh cupcakes and parfaits to take home for your sweet tooth. We've never had an issue here when placing or receiving orders and make sure you pick up your cakes on time when they're ready.

Just great cakes. Highly recommend the strawberry filling with the buttercream frosting. And the decorations are absolutely beautiful!

It turned out being 50% hands off, as the first half of the class, we spent watching the instructor tell us what we're supposed to do while she either demoed, or it was already done for us, or we passed a bowl around a group of 14 and took turns mixing. She said it was time for a break after about 45 mins in and I was thinking 'a break from what?, we hadn't even done anything yet'. Additionally, she spent a good amount of the time selling the Breville appliances we were using. Upon return from break, we were divided into groups and we made the pasta (running it through the device to make flat noodles as it was already made into dough for us). There was a sense of accomplishment from making the pasta. I do wish it was much more hands on as that's how I learn best. Lastly, there was an obvious and awkward dynamic between the instructor and her assistants. Every time she politely asked one of them for help with something, one specific assistant would retort "hold on, let me finish this." Or she would take her sweet time and had a clear attitude with body language and facial expressions. We all talked about it during our break. It was so obvious that either there was some sort of argument or fight prior to the class or they just really didn't like the instructor. It was obvious to all the participants and it felt uncomfortable at times. I even offered that assistant some of our wine though she politely declined. It was definitely unprofessional behavior. We were so excited for this class. So much potential given the brand. A real let down. In fact some of the nice people we met recommended some other cooking classes that were much more hands on and a good time. I don't recommend.

They describe it as a "recreational" cooking class, which means there is some light cooking involved but they've done a lot of the heavy lifting which takes the stress out of the experience and maximizes enjoyment. There were about 15 people total in the class. It's BYOB and they give you all the recipes after. We attended the New American Mediterranean class. Menu items included strawberry gazpacho, an arugula salad, carrot hummus, lovely grilled chicken marinated in Mediterranean spices, and berry ricotta tarts for dessert. Each item was more epic than the last. My girlfriend and I agreed that this was the best meal we've had in a long time. Absolutely delicious! We can't wait to try some of the recipes at home, and attend another cooking class (possibly the Italian one!) soon.

So, based off what I paid and the food we ate, the skills we learned, and the class itself, I definitely recommend it. The class started at 9am and we spent 3 hours going through basics of cooking broccolini, cannelloni beans, prime rib, and a pine nut cake. We spent roughly 1.5-2 hours preparing the meal and eating it. For someone who has never taken a cooking course and a husband who is not adept at cooking, this made a great date and fun meal. Of course, I will not say it is for experts or someone looking to go into culinary schools. However, it was fun, different, and interesting. It was also a lot of work. Get ready to learn, sample, and produce. And, eat whatever you produce. Take notes. Come early because the location is totally confusing if you have never been. The instructors were very nice, knowledgable, friendly, and had fun tips. Maybe these are tips people already know who cook, but they were new and fun to me. I recommend this class for a somewhat adventurous spirit, as a couples' date, ladies' day out, or for people who want to check out what it feels like to work in a commercial kitchen. Do NOT go if you feel like you are a master chef already or you will be disappointed. Don't go if you don't want to cook or sit and learn for a few hours. The (I'm assuming) students helping were very nice and cleaned all your dishes, cleared your area, and helped out if you had questions.

This is a long one...I apologize. Basically--from start to finish, this "school" was a big scam…read more I attended the culinary program. The admissions guy, Brent, sold the program very nicely. Made it seem like I'd learn how to be a chef and be ready for a career in the industry, in fact, an externship was a requirement to graduate. I signed the papers and paid for the school...it was not cheap. Almost $20,000. One year and a half later all I have to show for it is a nice set of knives, some books, a $10 an hour job and a much lower credit score. My experience here was horrible. Several students left out of frustration. Most of the instructors seems knowledgable and had some experience in the restaurant industry. However--they would frequently arrive to class late. When everyone else is there at 7 am, it's frustrating when there is no instructor. Also--the curriculum was ridiculous. The instructors usually just read from the PowerPoint presentations that they barely knew how to operate and that obviously weren't prepared by them. We were presented with so much information and such little structure, I don't really understand that they really expected us to retain the information, rather they were just trying to cram as much into such a small amount of time. Needless to say, much of what was presented (if it wasn't written down) was useless. I suppose that we did work with some pretty good ingredients, it was occasionally fun and very, very easy. But that's not really what I was hoping for, exactly. The admissions director sold the school as being something completely different. There was no structure at all. We never even learned the basics of working in a kitchen or even the tools that we'd use in a kitchen. Frequently the instructors would just do everything themselves without explaining how they did it, simply because it was faster than having us do it. Having someone talk you through the process of making gnocchi is great, but it doesn't give you any of the skills you need for a job making pasta in a restaurant...because for that you need experience. When I started my externship (which I had to find completely on my own) I was completely unprepared for the position. I was able to pick it up, through the help of my employers. On top of my fairly disappointing education I received from Le Cordon Bleu, I also received quite a shock when I checked my credit report. The school had taken out almost $5,000 worth of loans that I had not authorized. The money was eventually returned to "the government" and I didn't end up owing them anything, but it stills shows up on my credit report. They did this without my consent. It was unacceptable. Litigation is probable. After all this, if you're still reading, realize...you will learn a few things about food at this school. But that comes at a price that is completely not worth it. This school will not prepare you for any type of job in the industry. Please save your money and your sanity--get an entry level job in a kitchen and move your way up. It's much easier than you'd imagine. If you do decide to attend school here, remember that you will be paying the school for two months while you work...which means that Le Cordon Bleu will be making money off you even when they've done nothing to help you. It's a very elaborate scam. These private schools need to be stopped. They prey on the poor and market to parents and people with good credit so that they can make money off your loans and putting you in debt. Don't become a victim. There are plenty of other options.
