The food is AMAZING! These are dishes you'd have to go to San Francisco or New York to find any as good. Lots of old school dishes you remember and love but never see anymore. This gem of a Chinese Food Restaurant located on 4th Street has plentiful parking. The ambiance itself is not upscale in any way. After 30 years working in 4 Star 4 Diamond Hotels, I know great food when I taste it. Yes this is Chinese food . . . but the food quality and price point is exceptional. They have a vast selection on their menu. I have been ordering take out once per week for two years. It's healthy and tasty, and anything I've ever ordered has been excellent. So then I would return and there would mistakes, sides that would come with the main dish would not be there, or no fortune cookie would be included. When I told them about it the next time, the cookie would be there but something else would be missing. This is more important: I had delicious wonton soup. Next time I ordered it, it was awful, completely tasteless broth except for an absurd amount of salt. I had to throw it out. The inconsistency is not acceptable. read more

We were drawn in by some hopeful reviews. What we found was average or less, and it was hot inside and unwelcoming. I had my favorite kung pao, with fried rice. The flavor of the kung pao was good, in fact very good, but the fried rice (which I paid extra for) was horrible. I also tried the egg drop soup, flavorless and mostly Broth. My husband had vegetable lo mien with white rice. He did not like it much, it was ok. Egg rolls: good to very good. Drinks were from the shelf, and I had to pay for our cups. This is my first visit to this establishment. I went for lunch. Indoor seating is limited. It's clean and has pleasant decor. The staff consisted of one man, and he was cheerful, accommodating and pleasant. There are many choices on the menu. I was pleased to see a plant-based option of General Tsao's tofu. How's the photo shows, they were vegetables added as well, giving Nice color balance. It had some red peppers, so there was a little bit of zing. Very tasty. Prices are very reasonable. Served piping hot, vegetables and meat not overcooked, sauces in each of the dishes were distinct from one another. I really like the garlic eggplant, the cashew chicken, and the moo goo gai pan (when I want more vegetables). All were really delicious and we enjoyed it. One lunch fed two people! We could probably do with less rice. There were heaps of it, and it should run as a second to the entreé and not outweigh it. I think they should go back to either the plastic containers or use the fold up paper takeaway cartons. The styrofoam containers are shallow and tend to leak, and they're fairly messy. read more

Lucky Wok was a mainstay for me this last year when I needed to order a quick lunch somewhere near my workplace. Their lunch specials are really good - bountiful servings with a wide variety of choices including tofu, seafood, and vegetable offerings. Specials include your choice of wonton or egg drop soup, an egg roll, plus your choice of white, brown (not seen often IMO!) or fried rice. Call in order was easy and it was ready as promised. This was our first time here and now it's a favorite!. We did a takeout of Schezwan Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Pork Lo Mein. Our go-to Chinese take-out place. Unlike other places, the food is minimally Americanized, and tastes like the Chinese restaurants I grew up eating at on the East Coast. The owners are very nice, and the server, Ian, is awesome. Highly recommend the dumplings, which are some of the best I've ever had. There are some traditional dishes on the menu that you won't find at the other places in town. The chow fun tastes like home. Have seen good reviews & ordered delivery of wor wonton soup & combo fried rice. Soup was really good...good mix of veggies & chicken, pork, and shrimp. The fried rice had all meats & the regular peas, carrots, onions but they added corn which adds another level of flavor & crunch. Very nice & not super salty from soy sauce. We tried this place out as a delivery on Postmates and the food was good. The dumplings were delicious! The cashew chicken was great, but my lemon chicken was chewy. It seemed to be over fried and I didn't finish it. The spring rolls are also on the greasy side. I would not order any fried items but do recommend the other dishes. They are very authentic and perfect on the spice level. I will try this place again, but next time in person. The prices are on the steeper side , so I'm hopeful that ordering it in the restaurant fairs better with their chicken. read more

I ordered their pork fried rice. Char siu was used which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu. Everything was dry and unappetizing. The carrots, peas, and carrots looked and tasted like they came out of a large frozen bag purchased at a big box discount store. The pork was cut into chunks that I had to cut with a knife but they were just too dry to eat. The rice itself had an unpleasant mouthfeel. Of course, that was too dried out and hard. I'd been wanting to try Lucky Wok for several months. I finally got around to trying it out today. I'm always looking for good Chinese food in Albuquerque and it's hard to find. We ordered takeout and chose the "Family Dinner A". The restaurant did a great job packing up the takeout order securely and with all the necessary condiments and utensils. The soup was even divided into 2 separate containers. The meal came with 2 entrees and your choice of a side, we chose egg rolls. Lucky Wok is a great addition to the North Valley food scene. They have an extensive menu of favorites, including lunch plates, as well as a good variety of vegetarian offerings. I'm hooked on the Garlic Eggplant - spicy, garlicky and just a little greasy (in a good way). My other favorite is Chow Fun - broad rice noodles with choice of beef, pork, chicken or tofu - I usually go for the beef. The prices are reasonable, their take out packaging is excellent, there's plenty of parking for pick-up, and the owners are friendly & helpful. They're doing everything right thru the pandemic. I was hoping to find great Asian food in ABQ. I ordered General Tso's Chicken which had fatty chicken, bland sauce, and not especially tasty. I also got the Taiwan Sausage Fried Rice. I had spent 10 days in Taiwan, but never saw this dish. I found it to be interesting and tasty, but too oily for my taste. I have spent most of my life traveling and in big U.S. cities.
