I've been coming to this location for years now and I like the customer service here. Products are easy to find without the hassle.

The staff is all really friendly, especially a middle aged african amrrican cashier. He was cracking jokes and being very personal with every customer. I like the self checkout lane too and always find what I am looking for here. It is spacious and well laid out and even if you can't find help at every corner, you can always go up front and ask someone there and they will find someone to help you. Im a safeway girl but luckys was actually more stocked and had what I was looking for then the safeway down the road a little ways. Keep up the great work! read more

I always have a great experience when I visit this Lucky's location. I go here so often, I know some of the cashiers and courtesy clerks by name. I always commend individuals for being proactive and going beyond their regular job duties. I went to their seafood section and pointed to a tray of fish that looked like salmon. I said, "May I please have 5 of those salmon fillets, please?" The butcher smiled and graciously told me that they would help me right away, but wanted to be sure I know that the fish that LOOKED like salmon were NOT salmon. I appreciated her letting me know, but appreciated the WAY she told me even more so. She was completely friendly and explained the difference in taste and texture. I just went to open up my yogurt for my breakfast. It's over a month expired! This is the 3rd time I have purchased items that are past their expiration date! The sad thing is that these are just the ones I haven't caught at the store. A lot of items I have gone shopping for I have seen expiration dates for the date I am at the store or dates that have passed. They are really not good about checking their shelves and dates. I always have friendly interactions with the employees here in the evenings, and this was no exception. The people in line and the cashier and the gentleman bagging were absolutely lovely! Everyone was laughing and talking. It makes the chore of grocery shopping much less of a chore. And prices are reasonable too. read more

This location is always iffy with me to be honest. It has lots of stuff(like you would expect) but some things are difficult to find if you aren't used to their locations within the store. I seriously looked for Lawry's fajita mix for a good 25 minutes or so the other night before I finally came across it. It's all over for Lucky. We've had the gradual decline in service, now abysmal(10's a crowd?). We've had the decline in produce quality and the increase in prices(especially wines). Now, to top it off, the manager(likely new) decided to reorganize the whole store! How stupid can you be? The handout they give you(if you ask) to show you where things are is woefully inadequate. The first 3 things I looked for on it were not listed. LAME!!!!! I had moved to Safeway almost exclusively, now it will be exclusively. Sad end to a local chain that offered better. read more

Overpriced and inefficient, the brand-name selection is wide but rarely competitive. People shop here because the moderately-maintained decor manages---barely---to rise above the urban ghetto trend of the surrounding areas, being clean and whatnot. If you're looking for a pleasant and easy experience, and don't mind waiting in lines, this place isn't bad, as long as you aren't terribly concerned with the prices you are paying. read more

I came in here for a pit stop. I just need a Redbull and hop back on the freeway. Since I work in produce, I had to check out their display. It looked better then I thought it would. They must have old timers working here because it was very organized and clean. The pricing was lower then I expected also. We have Save Mart where I leave , and they are kind or pricey. You can tell it's an older store by the layout but it was clean in here. Since it was 11pm already, the night crew was working, there was merchandise in the aisles. I would come back here ago. I'm sad though, Krispy Creme across the street is gone and turned into a Chase bank. read more

The pharmacy sucks ! they don't even deserve a full star...I have been a pattern for over twenty years! plus! The new management is always telling me that he cover my meds ...so when I come in with my scripts .....He says he has to order !Three days out? The other manager had no problems and if he didn't have on stock item he would make sure the next time he could cover it!....One more time this happens I'll be going to another pharmacy! Yes Everyone in the Front is nice and friendly. But on My last two visits here (they will be My last) I have come home with old or molded food. One time it was My Orange juice, next morning before break fast didnt expect to server with out fresh juice. On My last visit molded vegetables. Parchased the night before for a dinner the next day only to unpackage and realize its Molded,hairy and old. I shop at Luckys or Safeway to avoid the molded food or soon to moldes food From cheaper grocery stores. CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE OR FOR MOLD, Because its clear the staff isnt doing so, just a heads up. read more

Thanks for the fun Halloween cupcake event this morning. My child had fun. My only complaint is the rude worker that "helped" us back at the bakery. If you only want to help the Latino families, go work somewhere that caters specifically to them. I see places in Richmond all the time that tend to be more your style. Meanwhile, you work in a supermarket where you are going to get all different types so shape up. My family deserves the same friendly attention the other 2 families before us got. We manged to make our little ones cupcakes look great and she had fun though, even though you were rude. read more

I have been going to this store for years. But yesterday I witnessed the RUDEST cashier, EVER!!! I stopped in real quick to use the redbox which was right by checkstand 1 (around 7 pm in the evening). I noticed that there was this long line but continued with the redbox. Since I was right by the door, I could hear the cashier (a woman, probably in her late 40's) kind of raising her voice. I didn't think anything of it until I heard her yell "what are you, stupid?". I didn't know who she was talking to so I looked and saw it was a bag clerk. I don't know exactly what happened but it looks like he ran and got something for her and when it wasn't what she wanted to said that to him. I over heard him say, "I got it from the Juan" and she yelled back "who the hell is Juan?" then the cashier the bag clerk was helping said "he works in the deli". Long story short, I couldn't believe what a total bitch this woman was. She wasn't apologetic at all to the guy who was trying to help her. And the thing that makes me the most upset is that she yelled at him in front of everyone! I NEVER will respect a place where they yell or reprimand their employees in front of customers. I know that everyone in line felt uncomfortable and she didn't even bother apologizing to them. I would have made a complaint to the manager but since I didn't witness the entire thing, I figured complaining on Yelp would suffice. The only thing this place has going for it is that the lines are never long and they have self checkout. Other than that, it's your normal conventional grocery store offering low quality meats and produce that's not even in season. Absolutely horrible service! I have had checkers that are so rude that already make me despise this place and then my visit the other day topped it all off! I go to order a cake for funeral, that I was very upset about. I asked the bakery girl if they have anything for that and her response is "No, cakes are for joyous occassions" I almost slapped the stupid idiot for her lack of remorse for a situation that was already very difficult for me. read more

I was shopping there today I did a self checkout. I had 2 orders as I was waiting for the guy to check the price check they took a long time and I cancelled everything. I left that stuff there as I was going out with my first order that I had already paid and had the receipt the lady on front there said "you stop u have not paid for that stuff it didn't go through "I was shocked coz that telling me I stole,I went back and told her I had two orders one I have the receipt and the next is there that u guys took a long time. She was like no u didn't pay after she checked everything that I had she found outthat sure enough I had paid for them. I was so frustrated she ashamed me in front of all customers and I have been going there for 20years. I called the manager but he didn't care he was like if u don't steal then it's okey at least until won't start today.!!! I think I it was just a racial thing. Came in with my friend to buy snacks. She bought Cheezits that were on sale, 99 cents each. But the max was 4 per customer. We thought it was 5 so we bought them all but realized on the receipt that it was only 4 for 99 cents and the final one was $1.99. We approached this employee who pretty much disregarded and avoided any eye contact with us. He said the limit was 4 not 5. So cool, we messed up. So we wanted to return it. But the guy just ignored us and walked off without finishing the conversation with us and we felt disrespected. Forgot his name, but I'll add it if l ever find out who it was. Anyways, we had to go find someone else to help us return the one extra box we accidentally got for 2 bucks because the guy we had been talking to pretty much brushed us off. I get we look super young and like high schoolers; however, we're both 20 and 21. We'd appreciate it if we were treated with respect and full attention when we need help with something. It's funny, when you don't need help, someone is always offering. But when you do, there is always a struggle to get that help. The guy just had poor customer service skills. And it's nothing complicated. Just an extra item that needed to be marked off and returned in that moment. He could've provided better attention, a smile and better communication on his part! read more

after shopping at the Pinole store for several years, I am thinking of using the Hercules one instead. i shop here at least once a week, and around every 4th time I get overcharged for something: cashier keys in wrong code for produce; rings up the same item twice; forgets coupon, etc. unfortunately it's not the same one, otherwise I would avoid him/her. either i hold up the line while they call the manager to delete the item, but most times i only realize it when i look over the receipt at home. by that time I am too tired to drive back for a refund, but it does add up. sad, because the people are nice, just not very competent. read more

Bakery...NO. I ordered a cake from here for my 2 yr granddaughter..it was aweful. I was very clear with what I wanted on my cake..it was NOT done. This is not the first time that I have been disappointed with the bakery. Will not go back...would recommend that you find another bakery. read more

This store sucks for Customer Service. Every time I call the Service Desk no one ever picks up the phone unless I try three or more times. Today I called it twice, no answer, just ringing forever. Next I tried the Meat dept, no answer. Next the Deli/Bakery, after several rings FINALLY a human being answered. ALL I wanted to know was if they had a Redbox in their store. It SHOULD NOT be that difficult to get someone to answer the damn phone. This store reminds me of the Post Office. Need I say more? read more

Worst experience ever ! Went to Lucky's with my 4 year old to purchase breakfast food went through the self check out miss read the price of an item and the store clack voided the transaction. I completed my purchase for $ 11.86 with a debit card and received $ 10 cash back ( I had a prior negotiated arrangement with the girl scout in front of the store for some chocolate mint candy ) put my bags in the shopping cart . I threw the receipt in one of the bags and walked out the store. I was talking to the girl scout about her snack, I sat my purse in the basket and I hear some one say " Excuse me Hey your transaction did not go though " I look up and this very tall Lucky's checker is talking to me. I told him I know my transaction went through because I received $ 10 and the receipt. I start looking for the receipt and before I could reach in the cart he grabs the cart and tars pulling it into the store. I'm telling I'm wait Wait and he proceeds back to the check stand that I previously used. when he looks at the screen and See's that the amount that I paid in black and what was voided in red and he pressed some button and he cleared the screen. he then said sorry I didn't see that. I was so embarrassed ! I complained to the store manager he was a super nice guy. He was very apologetic, and I felt like he was embarrassed about the situation as well. I told him that I will be right back I'm going to get y groceries that I previously purchased for $11.86 and I would like a refund, and I will go to Safeway. I went to the car to get the bags, when I walk in the store the same checker that pulled my shopping cart into the store was talking about the situation, and when the 2 Lucky's employee's saw me walk back in the store they quickly went there own ways. And to add injury to insult my daughter keeps asking me why did the man take our cart ? I explain that it was a mistake. I can't wait till she forgets about this incident. I used to shop here almost exclusively. I live close by so I would stop in to pick up a few things using a hand basket so I didn't have to push a four wheeled cart around. Then one day the hand baskets were missing. I asked the store manager about them and he told me they had all been stolen and new ones had been ordered and would be in in a week or so. That never happened. He flat out lied to me. This store has made the conscious decision to eliminate hand baskets, undoubtedly by design, so that customers would be forced to push a large cart around, which would likely lead them to purchase more items than they would have if using a hand basket. This is no different than the psychology used by them in putting the milk in the very back corner of the store so that you, the customer, are forced to walk all the way to the back which they hope will get you to buy more stuff. This sort of manipulation by them is not acceptable and is the reason I no longer shop there. The Safeway right across the freeway has dozens and dozens of hand baskets right by the front door and more often than not, a smiling security guard there to hand one to you ! BTW, the prices are generally better at Safeway as well. read more
