I'm rather proud of my first applique project. I can hardly wait for my check to deposit in the bank so I can shop again. It's like a giant warehouse. They even have a sofa, huge armchair, and a box of games and toys for kids waiting for their quilter to finish shopping. They have bad-for-the-environment options like batiks; lots of oversized quilt-backing fabrics; 50+ kinds of white; whole rows of patriotic fabrics, (if that's what you're into) and whole rows of Christmas, Halloween, 'fall,' etc; literally thousands of patterns. I found the staff a bit sour and gruff. The 'natural' grocery store next door looks interesting.... I'll probably come back for that.

However, after spending over an hour in the car to try to get here from my aunt's house in Greenville, I was rudely yelled at by the owner when entering the store. "We close in 6 minutes!!!" This was the beginning of the end for me... I live in Houston so I only get to come here when I'm in town visiting family or if I make a special trip to come stock up on fabric. I happened to be in town the weekend of Easter and tried to come here on the Friday before Easter, only to find a handwritten sign on the door that they were closed (for Good Friday) and would be open again the next day. That was a bummer, but I asked my husband if we could try to come back on Saturday as I bought fabric from here previously and I needed more of it. My family in the area lives in Greenville, so it was quite a drive to get here from their house. I saw here on Yelp that they close at 4:30pm, so we rushed and I ended up walking in 6 minutes to 4pm. How do I know this? Because as soon as I walked in, the owner screamed "we close in 6 minutes!!!" at me. I responded, "online says 4:30pm and I'm from out of town". She rudely replied "well online is wrong - we've tried to fix it but it's wrong". I rushed to grab my fabric and with 2 minutes left to 4pm, she yelled from the front "are you ready to check out?!" They had already rushed everyone else (all 2 other people) out the door and I was the only one left. Listen, I get that it was a Saturday and you're trying to go home....but you weren't open the day before due to a holiday and you now have a customer in front of you who's ready to spend money and also told you that she's in from out of town... To be treated so rudely, by the OWNER, nonetheless, is absolutely unacceptable. Next time I'm in town, I'm sticking to spending my money at the other 3 fabric warehouses next door as I will NOT be coming back to this place.

Yes, Hobby Lobby had the cow blanket sets in stock and in different sizes. They also had sheet sets and throws! But they're polyester too unfortunately so I had to pass. BUT bedding was half-off when I visited. Yay! Today was a win, found what I needed and snagged it up at a discount :) And customer service was impeccable as always!

And I enjoy the plastic model aisle as a reminder of fond boyhood hobbies. The workers are always very helpful if checkout seems a bit slow. The design of the store could stand to be redone, except that it probably helps keep the prices down. My one gripe here is that the Muzak Liberace arrangements of hymns feel heavy ha srsly churchy. I get it's a Christian business but how about some upbeat modern music to bring some cheer to the place?

Once inside though, you are welcomed by their vast assortment of support and offerings. Family owned and operated, they are authorized dealer for Baby Lock, Grace and Janome machines along with a wide variety of fabrics, thread, tools and notions making your sewing adventures a dream. Prices are on par with others and we were able to find out of print fabrics we couldn't find elsewhere. The staff was friendly and very helpful but I also loved the feeling as other "regulars" were shopping and you could tell that this was a welcoming shop. Definitely give them a visit if you are in the area - I only wish they had online shopping available if you aren't local.

I had a digital telescope that was being shipped back to the manufacturer in France. The time and care that was taken to make sure this instrument made its journey to France unscathed was like nothing I've seen. It would not have gotten this care and treatment from the UPS store in Waco. I was expecting an amount for the services they gave but to my surprise it was 1/3 of what I thought I'd be charged. This is the difference between a mom and pop local business and the chains of big cities. If you have a shipping need in Hill County or surrounding area this is the place to use.

They are patient and understanding. I always have way too many questions, and Jennifer specifically takes her time to answer them and help me out.
