We have loved Lucille's for a while -- it's a great place to take the kids and one of the only places to get Detroit-style deep dish pizza in Madison. Blake K., our waiter, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and made our evening even more special than usual. We will be back again soon! Thanks, Blake!!! read more

Good ambiance, friendly staff, and good food. We sat at the bar as the wait time for walk-ins was around an hour on Saturday afternoon. Some of our food was late to come out; however, the staff graciously removed the items from our bill for the delay. Overall, great place for a laid back meal. read more

Lucille - Cheese Curds, Pizza - Pizza Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

Food was delicious and the drinks were so refreshing. Specifically recommend the Paloma on tap, one of the better Palomas I've had recently. Food-wise, the cheese curds were unctuous in the best way possible and the pizza (we had the Weekender) was fantastic. Ambiance and service were great as well, we sat at the bar and were well taken care of throughout the meal. Definitely recommend! read more

If you are hoping for decent service don't come here. Brought food quickly drinks never showed. 30 minutes after ordering a beer nothing. 5 people behind the bar but apparently more interested in chatting with people sitting at the bar rather than pouring drinks for servers I guess. read more

Pretty good pies. The building is super cool. Great date night deals. Good cocktails. Very lively.

Lucille has a wonderful atmosphere and the place is well designed. I would def recommend upstairs for brunch and dinner but if you are looking for a place just to grab drinks their bar downstairs is wonderful. First off, def check in with the yelp app to get a free drink. I got the Moscow Mule and whatever ginger beer they use to mix it is delicious. We went for brunch, and I got the Cuban sandwich. While the flavors were spot on, it was $13 for a sandwich which I find hard to justify. Which is why I give it a soft 4 stars. Overall, drinks were wonderful, food is good but slightly over priced and nothing mind blowing. read more

A little bit on the pricey side comparatively to other nearby places but nice spot for cocktails!

Good tomato sauce on the pizza and the pizza crust was pretty crispy even though it was thick. Not enough fresh mozzarella cheese on top though. The baked cookie was pretty goey and I think they use brown butter so very flavorful, but the ice cream on top was nothing special. read more

Okay. This restaurant really is impressive. Not talking Michelin star but the vibe- the ambiance the open door size windows on the first floor. Superb. So the server was really busy. That's ok - it was a Saturday night and Dan was our server was phenomenal. We were still seated right away- the food came put pretty reasonably timed as well- 30-40 minutes. We had 5 large pizzas with 3 of them being their version of deep dish. This is where I got excited- the cheese was burnt into the edges. Yum. Too notch. My pizza was the Sausage and Raab. Just by reading the description it was nothing to rave about however once I took my first bite- I wished immediately that we had Lucilles in Minneapolis. I did see some adults with preteen aged kids- otherwise it's pretty much a younger college aged to under 30 crowd. It did make me think how fun it would be to bring my nephews in - if only to experience the ambiance and vibe and of course eat some Za. This place is a winner for sure. If I ever come back to the city it would be on my list to stop by. read more

Lucille's is great, most of the time. I've had some great times with groups here, but tonight you missed he mark. Granted it's a Friday and was 8pm on a rainy night.l so it was slammed. My to-go pizza took 57 minutes to get made from the estimate of 30. And while in a rush I left without checking the pizza. Too busy =careless pizza cooking tonight. While I agree wildfire pizza should have some char to it, this pizza was burnt crust and bottom. Sadly an unenjoyable pizza night at a place I usually like to eat at. Follow up: On a Sunday evening however when this place is empty it's very relaxing. read more

We came here on a Saturday night so we made a reservation prior. Everything was very covid friendly, they ask that you wear your mask if you aren't eating or drinking and they even provided these cute Valentine's Day theme masks. Our servers name was Chloe and she was amazing! Very nice and had good recommendations. We did the Valentines Day special with a bottle of Cava, salad, pizza and dessert for $60. Good deal and everything was delicious. We will definitely be back! read more

I am giving 5 stars not just to Lucille's, but to Tara. She handled a customer service issue with such professionalism. She took the time to email me and make things right. I'm looking forward to dining at this cute pizza place again. They have fantastic Moscow Mules too. Our server Kyra was happy to answer any questions I had and helped with our situation. I liked her suspenders. There are many places to dine that serve pizza since it's a college town. This one definitely is one that shouldn't be missed. The storefront is very bright and inviting. read more

The steel pan pizza was amazing. I am on a pizza tour of Madison Wisconsin. I like the cheese and what is best is having it on a pizza. I enjoyed the steel pan pizza which is comparable to Detroit style pizza. I am in pizza land when I am in Madison. I had the mushroom and pepperoni steel pan pizza and it was so yummy. read more

Lucille is a complete vibe. Really good drinks, pretty good food and great music/atmosphere. You honestly can't go wrong choose Lucille for a good time. I have been a few times and every time I am just happy to be there. They don't have the best food and that's ok because they have a good experience that they offer. read more

Made an anniversary reservation for me and my girlfriend and the second we got to the host stand they mentioned that they had our table reserved right after us so they'd have to put a time limit on our dinner. The food and service itself were very good. I would recommend Lucille it was just disappointing having that pressure on our meal for a table we had a reservation for. I'd understand the time limit for a walk in but for a reservation on a Tuesday night was a little surprising. read more

The umami pie was the real winner here. The service was nice and attentive. The inside is a great place to hang out after work or with friends/family. There was plenty of seating inside and outdoors. I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in town! read more

This place is so much larger than I thought! There is a big upstairs for dining and a cool lounge/bar in the basement. It's perfect for groups but also great for a more intimate dinner. Came for drinks with some friends, we each got a different drink and they were all tasty, interesting and very unique flavor combinations. Mine had tequila and lavender in it (as the picture shows). My pals also got the Mediterranean pizza which had basil, arugula, mozzarella, artichokes, feta, and olives. It was really great, and I loved the crust. After we ate a little we went downstairs and had a drink in the vault room, I loved the decorations in there. I will for sure be back to enjoy the full dining experience, I would love to try the tacos! read more

This place was so cool and the drinks we're verrrrry tasty. I got the one of their cocktails (forgot the name) but it tasted like a pina colada but much better and we also got a couple of the $3 daiquiri shooters (el dorado) and the bartenders were very friendly and everything that they were pouring tasted delicious. Also got the BEST cheese curds I've ever had that came with 2 dipping sauce (ranch and a spicy ranch). They have a downstairs that has a cool bank vault that they turned into a dining area and also an upstairs that we didn't check out. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area and want to try more of their cocktails and food! read more

I ordered a deep dish "The Standard" for delivery and it was very disappointing. The dough and cheese is very sour(this is the only pizza I have ever considered to taste "sour"), and there is not the marinara spread over the top like the pizza is supposed to have. In fact, the pizza has very little sauce at all, when the menu photo depicts copious amounts. I will not be ordering again. Missing the sauce is one thing and a bummer, but the sour taste of the pizza is another and I can not get over it. I have very little desire to finish it and I don't like to waste food. read more

Came here for both dinner and happy hours. Tried the pizza and other drinks here. The Southpaw pizza was such an interesting concept (pickled veggies and fried chicken on top of a pizza?), but was nothing amazing. I felt the crust was a little too thick. I probably would not come back for the food. The Painkiller is very tasty and I highly recommend it if you're looking for something with beautiful presentation. Overall, I know a lot of people love this place for the ambienc (they open their windows in the summer, which is nice). It is a nice, relaxed place to go with co-workers, but I wouldn't come here for a meal. read more

Oh Lucille's I wish I could give you 5 stars, I really do but can't. The atmosphere is very modern and perfect for downtown Madison. Pizza is one of my favorite foods too. I've been here twice and this review is mostly in regards to my last visit (yesterday, a Monday night). The specials and happy hours are decent and unique to the restaurant. If you plan to eat here take a look at the daily specials/happy hour before you come. Pizza - My BF and I decided to split a steel pan pizza prior to attending a concert at the Majestic. We ordered the Pepperoni & Onion pizza. The pizza came out hot, on a round pan. The best part of the pie was the caramelized cheese crust surrounding the outside of the pizza. We both agreed the sauce was over the top. To me it tasted more like spaghetti sauce not a pizza sauce. It had sauce in between the cheese and crust then poured overtop. I ended up scraping the extra sauce off the pizza. I think the pizza would be much better with less sauce, and more of a basic sauce. It over powered the pizza. The serving size was plenty for 2 people I was full off of 1 1/2 slices. We had two slices left over that we could have taken home but since we were attending a concert after we opted to not take the leftovers. Drinks - Monday's special was 50% off any craft cocktail that starts with a letter M. Our server stopped right away to take our drink orders and mentioned the special. Asked if we wanted mojitos, Moscow Mules, and one other drink. I opted for a mojito, and my BF ordered a beer. Drinks were served quickly. My mojito was not good at all, tasted like it was a premixed drink, with a sprig of mint as a garnish. The mint was not muddled at the bottom. Disappointing to say the least, at least the presentation was nice? My 2nd drink I opted for the Mule and that was very tasty. Lastly - The server was very nice and quick with getting us our bill as we mentioned we had a show to see. When the bill arrived I about fell out of my chair the bill was $75!!! We only ordered a pizza $19, a beer $10($), and two cocktails that were $9 & $10 but 50% off.. After looking over the bill we noticed an extra pizza and another food item was added. We brought that up with our server who corrected the issue. read more

One of the best date nights spots in Madison! Such a cute vibe in the restaurant & the service never disappoints. The pizza is SO GOOD & so are the various cocktail options. read more

Came here on a Monday afternoon and it was empty which was to be expected. It's a great venue. They have two floors and they can easily accommodate a large group if needed. They have a good selection of pizzas. You can do steel pan pizza or wood duress wood fire is when they cook it in their wood fire over downstairs that is easily visible. We got the five cheese wood-fired pizza for $19. It was thin crust. It's so good! I normally eat my pizza with meat but this was amazing. This was 14". With two people, you can easily split it and we had two slices left over. It was cheesy but wasn't too cheesy that everything was spilling out. It was a bit soggy though. The service was good. They are really friendly but also very nonchalant. Our waitress didn't really smile or anything. She was just there. It wasn't bad but wasn't great either. She did write on our leftover box what kind of pizza and the date so that was cute. I would recommend this place and come back again. I would try other things on the menu. read more

Umami pizza and pork lettuce wraps were amazing! Great bar staff and ambiance! Would come back!

I love this place! The best ambiance. Good food. Friendly service. And the drinks are amazing! I love coming here.

So many bars to choose from in Madison and Lucille's did not disappoint! Great location walking distance from the capitol. Chill atmosphere with floor to ceiling windows that open during the summer. There was the bar and some seating on the main floor. Downstairs had a lounge that opened later maybe 9:30pm? Upstairs had tables to dine as well. The wait was an hour, but we were able to snag seats at the bar within 10 minutes and were able to order both drinks and food there. The bartender recommended empanadas to start off with. We tried the beef picadillo and chipotle chicken, both were great but the chicken was amazing! Also tried the Queen pizza with arugala-a nice thin wood-fired pizza. The bartenders and servers were all friendly and polite. Will definitely be back and recommend it to anybody in the Madison area. read more

I really enjoy Lucille. I have only been here twice, but both times were pretty amazing. The restaurant itself is just so cool. It's a really nice space. The fried cheese curds are amazing. They're fried to perfection. I believe we got ranch with the cheese curds. I'd probably like to try the paprika-lime aioli at some point. For pizzas, we split three among the 7 of us. We got the Southpaw. So, the description of the Southpaw threw me off because it said BBQ sauce. Here I'm thinking it'll be like a sweet BBQ. Turns out, the pizza is very spicy. It was delicious though. The spiciness didn't kick in until after I finished the entire slice. The other pizza we got was the Umami, which was an awesome chaser pizza to the Southpaw. It definitely made me feel a little better about the spiciness of the Southpaw. The black garlic crème fraîche is so unique and really embodied "umami". The third pizza we got was a special - the Kickin' Chicken. I was too full to try it, but I was told it was good! read more

This place has an amazing atmosphere with a variety of good drinks and I highly recommend the pizza's! It's a tiny bit on the pricier side but the ambiance and location near the capitol are worth it. They have good happy hour deals (1/2 off M drinks on Mondays) so can be more affordable as well. Both the indoor, outdoor, and upstairs seating is comfortable. Highly recommend making a reservation for the weekend if you can cause the wait times can get to be long but the bar does have open seating so you can get lucky. Overall enjoyed the atmosphere, food, drinks, and the service was great. read more

If you're not taking advantage of Lucille's check-in offer you're missing out - it's might be the best in town. The daiquiri is really delicious and hand-crafted; you won't be getting a sweet slushy here. I went to Lucille shortly after it opened and it wasn't the best experience - the food was good, but service was not and timing was ridiculous. I've grabbed takeout a couple of times and been happy and recently have returned once for lunch and once for dinner to dine in. Happy to report that they've gotten into their groove. The pizzas are expensive, and I've found the best deal usually comes by eating in a group and getting a mix of wood-fired and steel pan pizzas. I vastly prefer the wood-fired, but the crust on the steel pans is killer. The nachos are also amazing and a small order was enough for two full meals for just me or to split between five of us for an appetizer. The decor is beautiful and the space has been well designed, seamlessly moving from a bright and airy noontime eatery to a cozy dinner spot to bumpin' club at night. The vault downstairs is great for private events, and I'm looking forward to their transformation this winter into a holiday theme bar with several others around the country. read more

In the top 3 pizza contenders in Madison! Go for the steel pan AKA Detroit style pizza, a pan pizza with cheese carmalized into the crust. The pizza is cheesy, crusty in all the right places, and the tomato sauce is fresh and tasty. I highly ask for some extra on the side and I can have that be itself. It is the closest to real Detroit style in Wisconsin you will find anywhere in this state, please trust that I have been around, and sort of close to Nikki's in downtown Detroit's Greektown. Great pizza that is equally matched with an extensive craft beer draft list speckled with rare brews and extremely rare beers that bring people in chasing ultra rarities. I arrived for a Vietnamese coffee stout that I had been chasing for year only to find out the barrel had just kicked. I stayed for a the pizza and some similar beers! The music can get loud and if you are not into that don't go here after 8:00 p.m., especially on the second floor. I was the there with my parents one evening and it was blaring, like I said get there early if you want to hear across the table. Great place, the lunch special is a deal, great beer selection, craft cocktails are on point, and the waitstaff are awesome. read more

if I could give them a rating of zero, I would. Made a reservation for the senior class of the Wisconsin hockey team and their parents. One hour before the event they called me to tell me they did not have tables for us, even though I confirmed with the hostess two days prior. They told me that the hostess was not properly trained and should not confirm large parties, and there was nothing they could do. No accommodation, no apology, no nothing. I can't tell you how disappointing and upsetting it was to all of us and such poor customer service by Angie. read more

My husband and I came here after it was recommended by some of his co-workers. We arrived around 5 p.m. on a Saturday and sat at the bar. After about 15 minutes the bar tender reluctantly took our drink orders and then never came back at all. There were 3 bartenders working and it wasn't too busy but all seats were taken and no wait at the door. Our empty glasses sat as close to the edge of the bar as possible and yet no one could be bothered to ask if we wanted another drink. We were never asked if we wanted food even though I was waving the menu trying to get someone's attention. I tried repeatedly to make eye contact with any of the bartenders but they ignored us. The weird part was the original bartender who gave us one drink, kept going to the back portion of the bar and doing something with the computer and sorting paper and money. If the bar has plenty of patrons, why is your back to us and why is sorting paper and money more important than making more money? Then, some ladies around our same age (50's) came and sat next to us and waited and waited. They asked us what the situation was with getting a drink and we told them to be prepared to wait and for poor service. BTW, they were still waiting to order when we left. Oddly enough, (and for me this was the last straw), a group of 6-8 college girls came in, stood next us and you've never seen a bartender move so fast! They all got drinks in under 3 minutes. Funny part, they left about $3 in change for their round of drinks. My husband and I always take care of our bartenders and servers, but that guy did not get to see our generosity. He chose a handful of change over treating us decently and getting at least a 25% tip on our $25 tab for two drinks! We shouldn't have to beg the bartender for a drink or food and we certainly shouldn't get ignored for a group of girls who probably wouldn't give him the time of day outside of Lucille. Hope he enjoyed spending those quarters doing his laundry alone at the laundromat. Do yourself a favor and avoid Lucille. It's a waste of money and your precious time! read more
