I clearly explained my intention upfront and was told to leave the car so they could plug it into their diagnostic system. When they called back, they quoted me $750 for a battery replacement. For context, the official Volkswagen dealership quoted $500 for the exact same job. When I went to pick up my car without getting the work done, I was shocked to be handed a $165.39 bill just for reading the code. This included a credit card fee and a "shop supplies" charge--which I was later told on the phone was for "grease that goes on the wires for a check engine diagnostic test." When I called to question the unexpected charge, I was told there would have been no fee if I had said something before leaving the car--even though I had clearly communicated my intent before handing over the keys. I requested a refund for what felt like an unfair charge and was denied. Poor communication on fees, absurdly marked-up service quotes, and questionable charges. I will not be returning and recommend shopping around before leaving your car here.

Highly recommended!…read more The "check engine light" on my Passat has been intermittently on and off for the past few months due to low fuel pressure warning. I took it to a VW dealer and was told that the fuel pressure sensor was faulty. A few hours after the sensor was replaced, the same problem came back again. I took the car back to the dealer and was told this time that the whole fuel delivery unit has to be replaced, for over $1000. I hesitated, and took the car to another auto repair shop for a second opinion, and after some diagnosis, the mechanic impatiently gave up and said such intermittent problems were very hard to catch and I should take the car back to the VW dealer as they have better diagnosis equipment. I was glad that I then made the decision to take my car to Great Savvy Services for help. A mechanic named Rick welcomed me and promised to do a thorough examination. He hooked a fuel pressure reader to my car and really took the time to patiently diagnose any potential problem. Eventually, he believed that it was still due to a faulty low fuel pressure sensor. I was at beginning in disbelief as the VW dealer had supposedly replaced it, and asked him to double check the fuel pump to see if it works properly. But Rick told me that my fuel pump was definitely good and affirmed it's the fuel pressure sensor. Rick was right: After he ordered a new sensor and installed it, the "check engine light" never came back on again! And while working on the diagnosis, he also replaced one of the faulty front parking lights on my car for free.

The lady I spoke with both on the phone and at the store (I believe her name is Maria) was very nice and patient, which can be rare in car shops. The price was very reasonable compared to other places I asked. Precision was upfront about how much the work would cost and about how long the work would take, which is something I greatly appreciated. No other places I went to could give me estimates for both of those things. I'll definitely be back to Precision when I'm ready to have the windows re-tinted. *** Also, the phone number that's listed on Yelp is the correct number for the office.
