I could easily scan my car's VIN using the scanner from the left door of the kiosk or type it in. Next, I was instructed to type in the current mileage. Then, using the OBD reader from the right door of the kiosk I connected it, pressed a button, and the kiosk quickly generated a report. Within five minutes of arrival, I had the printed report in hand. The convenience of using the kiosk anytime was a major plus. Overall, this was a very efficient and convenient DIY echeck kiosk for hassle-free vehicle inspections.

I had a short wait time as there were a few cars ahead of me. The employees were super friendly. After getting in the bay the process was less than 10 minutes and I had my certificate and I was on my way. Super easy. Just be prepared, you do have to get out of your car for a few minutes while they run the test. I loved the ease of the process and the fact that I didn't need an appointment just pulled in they input the car info, ran the test and off I went.

Luckily, after contacting my home state's DMV they informed me on the out of state registration renewal process. I went to this E-Check station for a smog check because it was the closest station to where I'm staying, and wow, did they blow my experience out of the water!! First of all, there was absolutely no wait! I pulled up and they immediately asked me what I wanted to do and they instructed me on their own process for out of state registrations. Usually it's $18, but luckily, their system was down and the manager on duty was very nice and said to go ahead with my test anyways as he provided the associate with an override code. Then the associate walked me through the process and made it an overall painless and pleasant experience! To my surprise, it was also free?!? Crazy! If I need to renew my registration again, I will make sure I come back to this location!

The service here is a joke, the mandate to be forced to use this service is not a laughing matter, instead, it's sad. In an effort to placate to the program's many critics, state legislators agreed to have tax payers pick up the testing tab in 2006, to keep their big scam alive. They've tied my hands into using the self service kiosk, which proves everyone's point that this program is an embarrassment, and a tribute to public policy gone wrong. The Twinsburg kiosk failed twice requiring an employee to manually enter the vehicle ID, but still saved me from entering their testing station. One brilliant caveat to the program is that if you register your vehicle outside the 7-county area surrounding Cleveland, you're exempt from testing, because apparently your car doesn't harm the environment as much as everyone else's. The icing on the cake: if repairs are too expensive after failed tests, you're exempt, as the liberals can't have eCheck hurting the poor with costly vehicle repairs. So the environment still suffers.
