Beware of this dentist. I post 1 star review on this dentist, due to the bad experiences that my wife had with them, and i was harrased by one of the nurse. I still have the date and time i received their phone call. they paid yelp to removed it. Thats shows that this dentist is even worst than i thought. Yelp said it's not my firsthand experience, never trust yelp review as well. I have report them to the the Bureau of Consumer affair. I have taken all the evidence. I can keep on posting the 1 star everytime the review was removed. My previous post that was removed: My wife came in for check up due to her toothache. There are so many things are wrong with this place, especially the nurse. 1. Her appointment is at 2pm, and she didnt go in until after 3pm. 2. The nurse is not the doctor, but she said my wife did not clean her teeth for so many years, and yet my wife washed her teeth every 3 to 6 months. The nurse kept on pushing my wife to do a deep cleaning which cost $720 cash. Trying to scam the IRS? 3. I requested a copy of the my xray, and she said it cost $20 to get one. WTH? That xray is her personal record. I would not recommend this place. Stay away if you can. read more

So my wife and I came here because we wanted to get our teeth cleaning in before year end and or usual dentists in walnut and Cerritos were fully booked. We came here and while the office looks ok, the cleaning was not. The dentist spent less than 3 minutes cleaning me and my wife's teeth. Meanwhile saying I had 7 cavities while my wife had 12. That's impossible. I've never had more than 1 cavity at a time in my entire life. Maybe once every 4-5 years. My wife definitely did not have 12. So I called and asked for my x rays because I wanted to get a second opinion, but they refused to give them unless we pay 100 dollars. Which I heard is not illegal but it's normally not practiced. Clearly had something to hide Later I went to my usual dentist and said I didn't have any cavities. I'm pretty sure this dentist was trying to cheat the insurance company and try to maximize on money. My wife also did NOT have 12 cavities. We both have vigorous brushing routines which includes flossing morning and nightly, brushing for 2-3 minutes at a time and using mouthwash along with water pik. Our teeth cleaning routine was longer than the time this dentist actually spends cleaning your teeth. If you're in Alhambra and if you think this is the standard, it's not. Teeth cleanings usually take AT LEAST 15 minutes. The really good ones take maybe 20-30 minutes because they're extremely detailed. Never coming back here, this guy is a scam. read more

Okay so it's been longer than I care to admit since coming here for a cleaning. This place has gotten a major face lift! It's so nice and clean. I've been overdue for a cleaning due to the covid situation. However, I decided to call and schedule an appointment. Once I arrived, the office staff followed all the covid precautions (temperature checks, check symptoms, and even have me wash my hands prior to entering the back office). The X-ray process was quick and easy. The dental hygienist took additional pictures of my teeth and performed the cleaning. Dr. Lu then came over the examine each tooth and areas I had sensitivity. I've always hated the dentists I've encountered until I started coming to this office! Compared to other dentists, you can definitely tell that Dr. Lu actually cares about your teeth. I originally came here for a really bad cavity and I was ready to get the tooth pulled out (it was that bad) but Dr. Lu advised against it and was able to save it. I've gone to a previous dentist who actually removed one of my teeth and it was way less damaged than the one that Dr. Lu fixed up. I wish I found this office sooner. I had recently came to Dr. Lu again because I chipped one of my front teeth. They get booked up quick so my appointment was 9 days after the day it happened. I called to see if they happened to have anything sooner than my original appointment but had no luck. Super grateful for Toto giving me a call when they did have a cancellation, I was able to come in 5 days earlier. I was super nervous about the fix not matching but Hannah did an amazing job on choosing the color and Dr. Lu fixed it so well that I forgot I even had it fixed. Dr. Benjamin Lu is a lifesaver and I mean it. During this COVID-19 time, it's hard to even find a dentist that is open, let alone a dentist who you can actually trust and feel comfortable working on your teeth with. I had tooth pain for about a month and I thought I could ride it out. It finally got the best of me and took over my entire mouth and the pain started radiating towards my head and I started getting what felt like headaches. My nerves were being pinched and I was in severe pain. I had taken almost every pain reliever medication and nothing else worked. I found Dr. Lu on Yelp and read the reviews and called them. Luckily, they were open for emergency dental services. The receptionist was friendly, asked about my situation and booked me for an appt. I came in and filled out new patient forms. I had my temperature taken and was then assisted into the room. The assistant helped take my x-rays and we waited for Dr. Lu to explain the situation. He introduced himself and was very friendly and amiable. He told me exactly what was wrong-- it was my final wisdom tooth! He explained to me the procedure and quoted me before beginning. I knew this had to be done so of course I agreed. He explained every step thoroughly and kept asking if I was okay during the procedure. Found him on Yelp, (yes, not the best place to find a dentist) but so happy I did! My poor daughter hadn't seen a dentist in years and yes it was my fault too. So with that said, she wasn't too happy that I found a dentist for her to go to. The plus side it's down the street, the bad is the wait. But to be perfectly honest, she LOVES THIS PLACE! Hard to say for a dentist, but she loved how the doctors and assistants would continuously ask her if she was okay or if she felt pain! They all literally made sure she was comfortable. My husband and I already plan to go to them and our twins. They already said they can and if they can't they will refer them to a pediatric dentist. First impressions mean a lot to me and this one was good. They were very aware and took all the COVID pre-cautions necessary to ensure my health and safety. The waiting room was rather small but the check in was smooth. Took me in right after finishing the paperwork and showed me to one of the cubicles. One of the dentists came in and reviewed my paperwork for more information. He didn't introduce himself. Not sure about anyone else, but I'd like to know who is going to put their fingers in my mouth. It's not a knock, but something to note. It seems like their equipment was well maintained and covered with plastic in most of the high touch areas to mitigate germ transmission! High tech Xray machine didn't work correctly so they moved me next door. I only came in for a cleaning but the took Xrays too. The cleaning was good. In previous cleanings, I was used to having my teeth cleaned by a hygienist using the manual tools and more recently in combination with a water-jet tool that cleans your teeth more efficiently. This time the dentist (not the hygienist) cleaned my teeth with the water-jet tool only. Hmmm... What is consistent amongst the last two dentists since changing from my original dentist, whom I've been going to for 30+ years, is that none of them probe my gums. Not sure what to think of that, but I'd like to know if there's any issues. What was discovered during my cleaning was that there were stains in the grooves on the surface of a couple teeth which could lead to cavities. It was recommended that they be repaired which I did. read more

So I'm absolutely terrified of dentists, and I had so much trouble dealing with Medi-Cal, but I found this office through yelp and Denti cal's website. Booked an appointment and I am happy with my decision. The office is run by Dr. Benjamin Lu, son of Henry Lu. He's got three assistants who all are bilingual (they speak both Chinese and English, but mostly Chinese) and are very sweet and accommodating. The girls and the Dr. explained what my insurance could cover and even had me sign up for another program that would further my benefits. I really appreciated the fact that they took the time to explain the different procedures that were covered, and what I needed to get done. I was afraid of them shunning me away because some dental offices have done that to me in the past. Dr. Lu is also extremely professional and kind. He is open to answering questions, and I love that he doesn't rush you into things. He's personal and his voice is calming. I had to get a decayed molar extracted and I was so scared. I shouldn't have been as the process was so quick and painless. My molar was quite stubborn, but I mostly just felt pressure and tugging. My jaw was moving quite a bit too, but nothing too crazy. Note: they use cherry flavored numbing gel, which I thought helped ease my nerves a little, haha. The office itself is clean and small. There are no TVs but honestly, it's a get in, get out type of place. Everyone is very nice and they make sure to not waste any time. They do get quite busy so it's best to book an appointment days in advance. One thing I wish they did in terms of customer service is just to call or send an email to check up on their patients post op. It would really make a difference rather than waiting for their patient's to ask questions or for their next appointment and such. read more

Easily a 5 out of 5 in my book. I found Dr. Lu's dental office purely by chance. I knew I needed to get work done, so I did a quick search on Yelp and figured why not take a chance on this place. Although there aren't many reviews for this particular office, don't let that fool you - Dr.Lu is great to work with and all of the reviews below are spot on. He is extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I haven't been to the dentist in over a year or two now and was extremely nervous about going back, especially to a new dentist, but I was thoroughly amazed by the staff and Dr.Lu from start to finish! They were able to process my insurance quickly and let me know what I was eligible for. Most places take forever to get that done and you're left confused afterward, but not here. Upon operating on me, Dr.Lu was willing to answer all of my questions and help put me at ease. He is very meticulous with what he does and makes sure that it's done right. I also appreciated how well trained his assistants are and how modern the technology they were using was. Not only that but this place is CLEAN. When you get into your 30s, all this medical and self-caring mombojumbo that you've been putting off starts to grab your attention and make you go, "well, sh*t, can't ignore this anymore". Or you are just generally good at taking care of yourself, props to you. lol First, allow me to drop some philosophical knowledge on characters and team building. Typically, when you get to a position of power and a position of maximum influence around your organization, a nice handful of those individual become arrogant and entitled. Dr. Ben Lu is the exact opposite. Most people strictly look at the work that one performs and the quality of results that he or she produces, but I enjoy the interaction between the leader and his or her staff. Dr. Ben Lu shows the utmost respect for all of his staff and patients. I might not be as bright or observant as some, but I do take notice the little details in most things. Dr. Ben Lu has a structured system that he follows, which allows a clear channel of transfer, for knowledge and information that most D.D.S are too casual to share, not Dr. Ben Lu. He shows you before and after, detailed info on what he had done and if you were to ask him for a copy of the info. He is more than happy because he knows he does good work and truly care. He is gentle with his work, and observes his patients every step of the way to make sure that the patient on the operating chair is sitting with the most comfort possible within his 4-walls. I predict it won't be long before his appointment list becomes lengthy and distant, because everyone knows a good doctor, and everyone wants a good doctor. I'll still be patient and wait for my appointment despite how long the process will be! Because, Dr. Ben Lu, is a good man. This dentist ids really unprofessional. I went in for a check up because i thought i had cavities, The nurse come here said i have lots of cavities. I went to a other dentist, the doctor said i do not have any cavities. And the nurse said i did not clean my teeth for years (funny i clean my teeth every 6 months) and kept on pushing me to do deep cleaning, which cost about $720 plus. I said no. The nurse is rude as well. Said if I don't deep cleaning later all teeth will fall out! Other than that they called me a week later bothering me. I will never go back to this dentist anymore. Came into this office about a year ago with a single tooth issue. It's been a nightmare after that because Dr. Lu sent me to another dentist to do a root canal on a DIFFERENT tooth and they cracked my tooth and sent me back to Dr.Lu like that. I went back for the crown and was told insurance stopped covering it. Now I'm stuck with my initial tooth issue AND have a half broken tooth on the other side that needs to be extracted. So they actually left me in a worse situation and wasted a year of my time. Doctor won't take any responsibility and blamed the other dentist and me for his lack of knowledge. read more

My insurance is denti-cal. Dr. Lu office was very nice and helpful. I went to Dr. Lu in August 2018, he examined my teeth, thorough check, measured my deep gum pockets. I was recommended to get deep cleaning. I asked the staff if it was covered and they said yes. I double checked with denti-cal, and they added deep cleaning in 2018, if necessary. Dr. Lu staff reassured me by saying they would let me know if it's not covered. The whole team was nice. Who am I? I had attitude problem since my upper wisdom teeth were only 2 left, causing dizziness. More problems, I had painful deep ulcers that were thought as gastritis and strep throat that did not get antibiotics for months. I apologized to the dentist since it made me difficult to walk, had a terrible, tantalizing posture to center my weight with ulcers too. Though I am a denti-cal patient, they treated me like regular patient without trying to degrade the services and hospitality. The wait time with appointment is a few minutes to less than 1 hour, appropriate at the dentists place. I arrived 15 mins late one time, and was so scared they will kick me out. I apologized to them and they forgave me. It turned out that more than 10 of my teeth needed fillings due to small decay and cavities. I could not believe it but they showed the pictures, they were thin lines inside my teeth, though I did not feel pain. A few teeth had cavities visible to me. They said they would not give you fillings unnecessarily, I got fillings for a lot of teeth, deep cleaning, and regular cleaning. They looked good now. One of my lower molar cracked, tooth #18, caused by wisdom tooth surgery. The next tooth, #19, was already missing. Tooth #18 was filled by Dr. Lu office. Because of missing tooth, it accidentally chipped after eating. Dr. Lu office has filled it again though it's the same tooth and Medi-cal could only bill once. In April 2019, the same tooth broke again when I ate (I was not that careful). They quickly helped me and I was lucky to get an appointment the next day in Temple City. This time, like my first visit, it was Dr. Lu who helped me. I thought it would be a quick check up, and next appointment would be the filling. They quickly took x-ray pictures and Dr. Lu himself filled my molar with white filling. I did not deserve much from Denti-cal. Though most fillings were done by Dr. Eng who was good, Dr. Lu was better. I wish they had billed Denti-cal from last year, but funnily the office has not done so lol. It's not my fault, I scared a lot of people until now I still have ulcers that are slow to be gone completely. I wanted to change to another dentist 0.8 miles from my place, Dr. Kang, for future consultation, though when I needed filling, they helped me again. Dr. Lu is naturally gifted in dentistry. I went to many dentists and few could compare to his hand skills, speed, precision, softness, effortlessness despite they were older. I met 1 specialist who was smooth like Dr. Lu, but Dr. Lu was faster, and it's great because he's 20 years younger. My filling was completed in 10 minutes and he did not have to adjust my tooth height many times while usually other dentists took 1-3 times to cut and polish my tooth. He asked me if my mouth could close or tooth was weird, I said no, because it was already adjusted perfectly, it was amazing. After that, they gave me address to consult with another clinic. I could not blame anyone. Beside, I wanted to go to closer female dentist nearby my place. This office filled same tooth 3x but got billed once due to denti-cal. It's already enough help. There were no intentions of lying to me or could not care less, which typically experienced from other denti-cal staff and office when they know it's denti-cal. They were not trying to upsell me either. I go to dentist not because of their personality but based on trust, their work and result. I like it more when people don't talk much unnecessarily, upsell, so it is finished fast and can do other things. Dr. Lu is talented dentist that I was lucky through denti-cal, I realized he has what it takes to be the best dentist. I hope people give Dr. Lu office a chance.
