I've been to this store many times and they do a great job! Also, I used to work for VIOC. Today I…read moreran into one of their techs, Chris, at an area restaurant and since he didn't know who I was I thought I would "mystery shop" him about why I should pick VIOC. Wow, I was impressed. He knew about great details about Valvoline oils, shared that techs must have over 250 hours of training before they can even touch a car. I finally told him who I was and they I once worked for the company. Chris @ their First Capitol St. Charles, MO has a bright future with this company!!

A Cautionary Tale About Valvoline on First Capitol Drive in St. Charles…read more Neighbors, I wanted to share a recent experience with the Valvoline Instant Oil Change location on First Capitol Drive. I've now had the rear wiper arm on my company vehicle damaged during service at this location twice. The first time, an employee physically broke the arm and approached me holding the broken part. Accidents happen, and at least he acknowledged it. The second time, on September 27, I personally watched a technician using hand tools on the rear wiper assembly. Afterward, I discovered the retaining pin and internal spring were missing, leaving the arm inoperable. Nobody said a word about it. When I returned to report the damage, the manager immediately told me their employees don't work on those particular arms. When I asked whether he'd been present during the service, he admitted he hadn't. I opened a corporate claim and offered to provide the damaged component for inspection. Valvoline denied the claim, citing surveillance footage that supposedly didn't show the damage occurring. They haven't offered to show me the footage or explain whether it actually contradicts what I witnessed. Even more frustrating, the same local management structure involved in my complaint was responsible for deciding whether my claim was valid. I've since replaced the part myself. It took less than five minutes. This was never really about the price of a wiper arm. It's about accountability. Mistakes happen. I understand that better than most. But when something goes wrong, I expect a business to acknowledge it, investigate fairly, and communicate honestly with its customers. I've requested an independent corporate review and have yet to receive a response. I'm sharing this because I believe our neighbors deserve to know how a local business handles a customer concern when something goes wrong. I'll be taking my vehicles elsewhere going forward.

My only problem I have with any of these places is working for the extra sales. I've had guys bring me an air filter that I replaced two weeks ahead of time and said it was dirty and needed replaced because it had a slight tint. My wife won't even go to get the oil changes anymore because she feels so pressured to do everything that these guys say"have"to be done even though her father is a master mechanic and does 90% of the maintenance himself. We do the oil changes so we don't have to bother him for small stuff.

I visited on one of those amazingly frigid January days we get here in the Midwest and they had the heat blasting from above to keep the cavernous, window-filled garage warm. I've been here several times over the last couple of years and the process always moves quickly. Being able to sit in my car the whole time is a perk that keeps me coming back. They were shortstaffed, so I gather that was the reason they did not take a gander at my cabin air filter or try to upsell me on any other items, as is typical. Also skipped was guiding me through resetting the oil change reminder my car gives me. They verified that my headlights and signals were functioning properly, though. I used to think it was a plus that they checked the air in my tires, but when I left this time, I realized that three out of four of my caps weren't screwed back on properly. So next time, I will just have them skip that part and stick to doing it myself. I remembered to grab the discount that's always available: I utilize the synthetic blend, so I saved $15. If you use the full synthetic, it's $20 off. Google it or call the store and choose the option to have a coupon sent directly to your phone. Easy peasy - and one more thing checked off the to do list!

Not once have they ripped me off and they have always been very easy to work with. Even as a 22 year old girl, who knows nothing about cars, they have never tried to take advantage of me and have never treated me like I was stupid or lesser because of my knowledge on cars and the many questions I may ask at times. They don't try and up-charge us and only provide the services that we need and request. There aren't any hidden fees and, as precaution, I always check my receipts before check-out and leaving the shop to ensure everything adds up. I've never had an issue in the many years I have been personally bringing my car in. I even had some pretty major things done here from an engine issue to having all four tires ordered and replaced.

They had installed the tire incorrectly and damaged the break pads in a way where they were constantly engaged. Apparently they had "test drove" the car before handing us the keys and the car was "way better now". It is blatantly obvious that they did not do this as the car can barely accelerate past 25 miles per hour. We simply wanted someone to fix a tire.... That has turned into thousands of dollars worth of damage with no compensation from this company. If you're thinking about coming here.... Literally anywhere else is going to be a better bet for you. Cannot express how Terrible service was. Edit: They expect us to drive the damaged vehicle back to their shop and refused to tow it. This is a big deal as the damage they had done to the break pads can cause the pads to overheat and start a fire. It could also cause the breaks to completely give out making the vehicle completely unsafe to drive. Absolute fucking morons running this shit show.

Moving to Missouri at the tale end of winter leads to some interesting adventures, especially when…read moreyou've lived your life in the South where there isn't really a winter to begin with. So my first week here I caught the last snow of the season. It wasn't really much, but I still found myself sitting in my truck trying to get the engine to turn over. Turns out the cold had killed the last life in my battery. And so I found myself taking my truck to Dobbs the next day to get it checked out. They did a free battery check and confirmed my suspicion, my battery needed to be replaced. Service was fast, courteous, and best of all priced well. And to top it all off, they are affiliated with Goodyear, so I get to use my Goodyear credit account. I need some new tires soon and Dobbs will be the place I visit.

Whether one considers that a public service or a government-sponsored scavenger hunt for cash is beside the point; we all have to do it. With that in mind, I scheduled an 11:00 a.m. appointment at Dobbs Tire & Auto for an emissions test. I arrived five minutes early, handed over my key fob, and took a seat in the waiting area, expecting the process to be relatively quick. An hour later, after nearly succumbing to the fumes given off by the display tires in the showroom, I politely inquired about the status of my vehicle. Rather than receiving an update or an apology for the delay, I was met with a sharp rebuke from the employee at the desk, Steve, who seemed offended that I had dared ask. The emissions test was eventually completed nearly two hours after my scheduled appointment. Now, I understand that delays happen. Cars break, schedules back up, and unexpected problems arise. What I don't understand is the complete lack of communication, the rude response to a reasonable question, and the absence of even the most basic customer-service courtesies. Not a single apology for the delay. Not a simple "thank you for your patience." If you're going to keep customers waiting for nearly two hours for a scheduled appointment, the least you can do is treat them with a little respect. I came in expecting an emissions test. I left with an emissions test and a lesson in how not to treat customers.
