Found a very expensive "diamond dinner"ring and was talked into layaway. A few days later, I was showing somebody a picture of the ring and they asked how many diamonds it was and I realized I never asked. So I called Nummi's and they told me these were diamond chips. From a past experience of me trying to sell a ring with diamond chips, I found out they're not worth much. So I called Nummi's again right away, it had only been a few weeks. I spoke to Katie and explained that I wanted to cancel the layaway because the ring only had diamond chips. That's when she told me there was a restocking fee of 10%. They charged me over $90 for that restocking fee plus she said I ordered tax. So the bill was $108.82 for nothing. That was more than what I paid for the pendant that I originally went in to buy! Just know, that Nummi Jewelers does not always tell you the whole story. If you do anything on layaway, make sure you ask about a restocking fee?

I worked for a Zales Outlet in St Augustine, FL. We would adjust watches, bracelets, and any other "customer service" issues as a courtesy. Zero charge. I went in the day after I purchased it to have them remove a link the salesperson asked for my phone number. I said, "Are you about to charge me to take a link out?" I was verbally upset, to where I was bewildered from the expectations, so i leave it to get adjusted and i get a voice mail from the Manager apparently saying thank you for leaving your bracelet to have adjusted. I've done this quite a bit & It's only going to be $5. I'll be returning it. I spoke with my husband and also shared this story with most of my friends I've bumped into within the last couple of days. It's true, one bad experience. I actually told more than five people. It's the principal. There's absolutely nothing you can do to change my mind. It was a mere "I wanted" at the time of purchase. I just don't need the bracelet.

I went to John Marxhausen for my engagement ring. When I got it, it was too big. I brought it in to…read moreget it resized. When I picked it up, it was still too big and the lady helping me agreed. John came out and I told him it was still too big. It slid right off my finger easily still. He told me to take it with me anyway. And bring it back if I still didn't like it later. I told him that it was too big and the size of the band was uncomfortable as well, trying to be kind about it. He basically shooed me out of there. A few minutes after I left I noticed there was a difference in the gem, looked like little flecks of light or inclusions that were certainly not there when I dropped the ring off. I would have gone back right away to show him, but I needed to get somewhere at a certain time and I wasn't driving, so I called him immediately to tell him about my concern. He said he would need to take a look at it. I brought the ring in a week later. He could not see anything wrong with it, of course. The difference was clear as a bell to me and everyone else I showed it to though. He resized the ring and fixed what was uncomfortable about the band. About a week after I got the ring back, my gem cracked and it has gotten to the point where I cannot wear it anymore. I basically haven't been able to wear my engagement ring since I've gotten it. It didn't fit me before and now the gem is destroyed. He will not admit to anything happening while it was in his possession. I have analyzed the situation again and again and I am very certain he caused it or someone who handled it while it was in their possession. He will not help me with the problem at all and even suggested insurance fraud. He is very difficult and draining to talk to and will talk in circles around the problem and offer no solutions. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Antiques on Belknap is by far the best antique store in the Duluth, MN and the Superior, WI area!…read more My wife and I scheduled 2 days to visit EVERY antique store in Duluth and in Superior. We were able to visit all of them except for two, which closed early...because of cold weather...or whatever. When we finally got to Belknap I was amazed at the huge quantity of high quality items crammed into one small building! You have to look close, every square inch is packed with stuff. And don't forget to look up. There are some awesome larger items hanging from the rafters in the ceiling. The whole place is owned by a very nice woman named Janet. All of the merchandise is hers...no "antique mall" with hundreds of small vendors and their stupid little nick-nacks. It's all 100% Janet. This explains the quality. And it explains her willingness to carry a few larger items that you'd never see at a mall. My wife and I like big items. We bought a 1951 movie poster that's 7 feet wide and 2 feet tall with striking images and the original billboard scalloped frame. We also bought a 1930s flour advertising poster that's 4 feet wide and 1 foot tall with really cool graphics and shrink wrapped safely on a cardboard backing.
