This nonprofit is housed on the 2nd floor of a building right off of George Washington University's…read morecampus, which can have an adverse effect on hunting down parking spaces depending on what time of day you come - but, provides you with a smorgasbord of food truck selections should you feel peckish before your class/event at the center . Although the primary focus of the center is to assist disabled veterans with finding career opportunities in the Washington DC area, many of their workshops and events are open to the local veteran community and are held primarily during weekday daytime hours. They also run the Washington DC Kaufman FastTrac class for new and aspiring military veteran entrepreneurs. I came here for the FastTrac program, which I'd highly recommend to anyVET who's contemplating owning and operating their own business. You do have to sign in at the front desk of the building, but sometimes the concierge is inconsistent so I'm not sure if it's a building thing or what - either way be sure to check in with the front desk. There are other nonprofits that inhabit the building but I'm not sure about their mission/focus. At the veterans center on the 2nd floor there's restrooms, two classrooms and a mini-lounge area with materials about other veterans-centric programs/events occurring in the area. They're not open on the weekends but I think that's because the building itself isn't open then. Lastly, check out their facebook page for upcoming events/details: https://www.facebook.com/Nationalvetsgetstarted

The club is amazing and very historic. They have an interesting military library (complete with the Dewey Decimal System) on the third floor, which is worth visiting. The cocktails in the Daiquiri Bar were amazing, as was the story of how this great lime-based Caribbean cocktail came to the US. The menu is the formal dining room is vast and what's most amazing is how great they are at making everything! They offer plenty of seafood items and I chose the Dover Sole, which was absolutely amazing!! Service from all the staff was great. If you have the opportunity to come here, take it! I hope to go back sometime!!

A nicely cooked fish, complemented with a slightly sharp lemon sauce, with nice chunks of crab and crawfish. Finished off with a cup of coffee and a perfect-size slice of key lime pie, it was a nice sublime meal underscoring the business at hand. Different than the buffets that I'm used to, the a la carte options hit the spot. If you get invited to the Army & Navy Club, I recommend accepting the invite. The food will be worth it.
