The people who work there need to learn manners. They are very unfriendly customer service. They have this thing about making check out difficult! It's always been difficult to check out very small area and there's always somebody doing company business at the cashier area and limiting checkout. I also don't like when they try to run you over when they're in the store. It's a bookstore. Worker shouldn't try push customers out of their way when they're walking down the aisles. And my God they mark up price is so bad on some of their toys Amazon is cheaper. eBay less expensive. They have a nice selection of books but limited in some categories. I've got made fun of one time because I asked about Cryptid. The worker looked like a Cryptid with all that weird makeup. She's laughed at me. I happened upon this bookstore over the summer and now it's one of my favorite bookstores in the history of ever! Their selection is HUMONGOUS and I have found endlessly fascinating reads there. Possibly the highlight of the little town of Three Rivers, Lowry's Books is the kind of place you don't expect to wander into outside the pages of a book. It has a story-quality to it, with each room sending you to a different time and place and a book to buy nearly every time you walk in. I honestly can't recall a time when I couldn't find at least one book to walk away with. Prices range from free (yes there's a free box outside the store with some sad, forgotten books), to about $3.50 for a good trade paperback or hardcover, up to new book prices. There are also a couple of 50 cent deal shelves that you can occasionally find a treasure on. The shelves are messy and a little daunting, but part of the pleasure of strolling through Lowry's is finding that hidden book waiting there for you, as though it were hiding until its true owner arrives and then accidentally falling to the floor by your feet. If I had to level a complaint at the store, it would be at the mediocre coffee shop attached (which is a separate business that simply shares space). Other than that, there aren't many independent bookstores that can top Lowry's. read more

Lowry's in Three Rivers is a gem in this small downtown. They have expanded thru the years and bought several adjacent stores to make it a large store with more books in the basement. Amazing amount of rare books as well as a massive amount of really good condition used books in every genre. Prices are low so I always buy much more than I planned. Friendly staff and the owner is usually there. Food - They also have a café with yummy food (sandwiches and such) and drinks. Always a great experience when I come to town to stay at our cottage. read more

Lowry's is a great example of laid-back life in small town America. In addition to being a locally-owned new and used bookstore tucked into a small Main Street storefront, it houses a small café serving a limited lunch menu of healthful wraps and sandwiches - with chips and diet coke served in glass mugs. As our sandwiches were being prepared, I thoroughly enjoyed perusing the aisles and finding that Lowry's sells a variety of unique things in addition to books. I saw an unusual combination of everything from toy cars to fossils to magic tricks - an unlikely assortment to be sure. I had to jump on the "Magna Buzz" hematite magnets for three bucks... I mean where in the world can you find this stuff??? Our wraps were great - loaded with very fresh and tasty ingredients. Our experience in the cafe was an enjoyable flashback to days-gone-by when life was slower and more carefree. It was fun to see that small town America is still alive and well in Triple Creek. read more

My favorite bookstore anywhere. It is a must-visit whenever I travel to western Michigan. Small town, personal vibe with amazing selection of used books. I usually peruse the fiction, classics, psychology and theology sections and come away with many gems - both what I was looking for and what I didn't yet know I was looking for. There is literally something for everyone at Lowry's. The owner works the register and is a friendly chap (who has also served as mayor of the town). read more

A great place to purchase unique children's books. And lots of books available that are signed by the authors. The used book selection has wonderful prices. They can order just about any book that is not in stock. I highly recommend ordering books through Lowry's rather than spending money at a large chain or Amazon.com. An immense and well-stocked bookstore, at least within the used section. Three Rivers is lucky to have it. Sci fi, mystery, and romance genres are abundantly represented. I'm a little bummed to see declining shelf space for new fiction and nonfiction--with the exception of the expansive YA section--but I suppose Lowry's is giving up the space because no one's buying. Come on, people. How do you think we get used books? By publishing new books! read more

Stopped here for coffee at the cafe in the store. Food and drinks there are delicious. The books go on forever, seems like just when you get to the last row there's another whole room. There is a book for everyone here, regardless of age or reading level or book type. read more
