Ask the Community - Yarn on Front

Do they have "I Like Big Yarn" or something similar?

Hi Karen, we don't carry Lion Brand yarns, but do have other bulky and super bulky yarns available.

Anything for cross stitching or embroidery?

I do not believe so, based on my last visit.

I cannot stress enough to please be very, very careful when turning over a family [heirloom] for…read moreany such repair(s). I am deeply and emotionally devastated by how I was, have been, and continue to be treated by the business owners of this establishment. At the beginning of Feb. 2025 I handed over the counter to one of the [then] owners, I was assured after discussing in great detail about my one and only, deeply cherished, family heirloom, the only thing I have in my possession after the passing of my mother. I am an old man now, with grey hair, and the one thing I had that my mother handcrafted for me when I was a very young child was a UofM colored, hand crochet, hand crafted, with many hours of love, was a queen size bed spread. Over the years it was stored and found itself had fallen victim to a few small holes that were in need of repair so it wouldn't unravel. Standing at the counter on a wintery night at the beginning of February, 2025. I was assured by one of the owners that he would make those repairs within less than two weeks, in time for me to depart the state and head back west. I was verbally promised from this owner that I should take his word that my beloved blanket, and family heirloom would be handled with the utmost care and returned to me repaired. Well... that promise I received was nothing more than a blatant lie. I not only have never received my blanket back repaired, I have never received the blanket at all. Where is it??? Nobody will honestly tell me. Since February I have called, texted, left voicemails, emailed, and have still to this day [a full half year later], I still do not have back in my possession my one and only family heirloom of my late mothers. The Bear and Fox is more like the sly-fox! They have not followed thru with any repair, they have NOT returned my UofM colored [blue & yellow] queen spread. [Whether repaired or not] I do not know what game(s) this place plays, but I defiantly don't appreciate it. I have literally attempted 30+[plus] times to have my family heirloom returned to me. I get absolutely nowhere with these owners. It seems to me that they don't even have it in their possession any longer, I have never received a straight answer, all I have gotten is empty promises, and to no avail... I still am left empty handed without my priceless family heirloom. How can any business, when taking a customers cherished and most loved possession from them, assuring the customer that it will be looked after and cared for while being repaired at the store. How can an owner actually fall asleep at night, with a good conscience? How can a business do this to an individual who's in grieving from the passing of a family member. How can The Bear & Fox be so cold and callus, while pretending they actually run a legit business and care? [Care, they do NOT!] So dear [Public], you have been forewarned on how this business operates. Never expect one return call, never expect one return email, never expect one return voicemail, never expect to get your family heirloom back, never expect any words that may spew from the mouths of the owners to be truthful. What you can expect is... to be lied to, to not return any of your attempted communications, to never fully be told the truth on where your item is at or what may have actually happened to it, fully expect to be hung-up on. No value of customer service found at this shop. One should never trust these owners. Period, full-stop. I will be filing a police report of theft. I will be now suing this establishment, for theft of a priceless family heirloom, emotional distress, etc. Sincerely, - A very dissatisfied customer

They even have weird stuff like t-shirt yarn and fabric strip yarn. Tons of weaving equipment, spinning wheels, and more. The staff is so knowledgeable and can make great recommendations. Being weavers, they are familiar with how the yardage descriptions vary so dramatically from weaving to knitting yarns. They can help you choose the right type of yarn for your project and are very familiar with the behavior of the yarns after washing and drying (for both knitting and weaving). Spectacular shop! One of the best I've ever visited. And the yarn is so affordable! Cheaper than wholesale!!!

We purchase leftover yarn from the fabric mills when they've completed their orders or if a product has been discontinued. These yarns are known as Mill Ends. We get them in bulk, at a great discount and we pass that savings on to our customers. We can sell the yarn by the cone, as we get it... or we wind the yarn into smaller packages like a 1lb cone or tube, or an 8oz or 4oz tube. We have no control over what or how much of any yarn we get... we just take what they give us. We can't order or re-order any yarn. So, when it's gone... it's gone. We may get 100 pounds... we may get 3 pounds. So, if you see something you like... BUY IT! It may not be there a minute from now. This kinda makes our site a Treasure Hunt. As product runs out... we add different yarn. We are always adding... so check back often.
