I'm taking a sock class right now, and the instructor, Ann, is great! My only gripe is they don't carry a couple of my favorite fibers, but overall, they have a good selection of fiber. Plus, I understand that you can't please everyone all of the time! Overall, my favorite knitting shop.

The overuse of AI generated images and text in their emails, social media and marketing is enough…read moreto put me off ever stepping foot in this store ever again. I am curious to know what the owners of The Bear and Fox DON'T use AI for, because they take AI use to an entirely new level and it really just comes across as lazy and unprofessional. Why should I spend my hard earned money at a business that is too lazy to invest in their own business by hiring a graphic designer for their logo, or at the very least spend a few minutes in an editing program to make a flier that is not visually abhorrent? Why should I go out of my way to shop local when this business is so lazy and cares so little that they need AI to regurgitate word salad for their emails and social media posts? Why even bother owning a business that is specifically catered to crafts if you are going to outsource every creative aspect to a robot? The AI is getting so exhausting. It is EVERYWHERE and it is a punch in the gut to see a business built around human creativity and handmade crafts use this kind of technology, despite the environmental impact and the theft that takes place to train AI models. I cannot speak for everyone, but fiber arts is my escape from being bombarded by AI and the need to be hyper-vigilant of what is real and what is fabricated. The incessant AI is just more than I am willing to tolerate tainting my hobby. I don't own a business, I am sure it is so much harder than it looks and I am sure the owners are just trying their best with the tools they have at their disposal. However, no amount of business optimization and time saving is worth what AI is doing to the planet, the fiber arts community and the communities living in areas where data centers are being built.

We purchase leftover yarn from the fabric mills when they've completed their orders or if a product has been discontinued. These yarns are known as Mill Ends. We get them in bulk, at a great discount and we pass that savings on to our customers. We can sell the yarn by the cone, as we get it... or we wind the yarn into smaller packages like a 1lb cone or tube, or an 8oz or 4oz tube. We have no control over what or how much of any yarn we get... we just take what they give us. We can't order or re-order any yarn. So, when it's gone... it's gone. We may get 100 pounds... we may get 3 pounds. So, if you see something you like... BUY IT! It may not be there a minute from now. This kinda makes our site a Treasure Hunt.
