I had a very frustrating experience with Christian Brothers Automotive in Trussville. I took my…read morehusband's Audi in on a Monday for what we were told was a water hose and a few other hoses that needed to be replaced. What should have been a fairly straightforward repair ended up taking over a week. Throughout the week we were given multiple updates that turned out not to be accurate. Starting Wednesday we were told the car had been pulled in and was being worked on, and at one point we were told it would be ready, but it wasn't. Each day we kept getting different information, which felt like the runaround. We didn't end up getting the car back until the following Tuesday. Being without a vehicle that long was a huge inconvenience for our family. When I asked if there could be any type of discount because of the delay and miscommunication, I was told they couldn't offer any percentage off because they had to use a more expensive part for the Audi. While they did apologize for the miscommunication, the overall experience was still very disappointing. To make matters worse, about five days after getting the car back, we started smelling gas and had to bring the vehicle back again to have it checked. That was very concerning, especially after just having repairs done. I understand that repairs can take time, but better communication and making sure the job is fully completed the first time would have made a big difference.

Also, they were the only shop I could find nearby that would work on VW. The ignition lock cylinder on my 2010 Jetta randomly stopped working one day, and they replaced it and saved me from worsening my headache working on that thing. Plus their pricing seems really good to me. So I would definitely recommend Gear Grinder's Garage over anyone else in the Springville/Argo area.

I came in needing a wheel bearing replaced, as well as front brakes and rotors. I was quoted a…read morereasonable price compared to the place I usually take my car for maintenance. I was told that it was not my wheel bearing, but my transmission that was making the noise. I went ahead and had the front brakes and rotors replaced. I then took my 2019 Camry to a transmission place, and of course, they said my transmission was perfectly fine, that it was my wheel bearing. So after have three different people/places (including my boyfriend, who has a master C license) tell me that I needed my wheel bearing replaced, not only time was wasted, but an extra $125 to have someone look at my perfectly good transmission, was also wasted. I will NEVER take my car to them ever again.

So let's move on, we had an error code for camshaft sensor on 1/3/2026 we notified Holmes motors of this error code and to tow it there it of cost $100 using my insurance for towing and they claimed he was over mileage and according to the paper we were not. We had to have the car fixed we had the vavle cover gaskets, crankshaft seal (front), rear disc pads, oil filter and oil done fixed. Now during this time our vehicle was in the shop for approximately 3 weeks after getting fixed. Then we had to replace the wheel bearing on front passenger on 2/10/2026 as i sent message for service at Holmes and nothing from them. Now as of 2/20/26 the engine is gone. Pistons broke, engine oil all over the car, engine oil pan replaced. So let's see if Holmes will replace this vehicle as my son has made his pymts on time if not early at $240 biweekly and we put down $2000 on a car on 10/13/25 that is not drivable and have been having issues since we gotten the vehicle. If they would of done a proper inspection on this vehicle when we brought it into them then maybe they would of caught this issue before it gotten this bad to where this vehicle is no longer drivable.

We have had car trouble with a vehicle we recently purchased over the last few months. The defect in the car is not currently covered by warranty. There is currently a lawsuit against the manufacturer for the defect, but we've had to bear the expense for now and hope ours doesn't have the issue outlined in the suit or be accepted as one of the many plaintiffs on the case. Tim and the rest of the Panos team have been super kind to us, helped us borrow a loaner vehicle to keep our small business running when we desperately needed it, and been more than fair in their dealings with us in a way that I don't many other mechanic shops would... certainly not dealerships nor the majority of larger shops!
