Anyways, today around 8:30pm, I asked an employee by the name of Norma who worked in Deli or Bakery (not quite sure, but she was in all black) if she knew where the laundry detergent was. To my surprise, she walked me to aisle 12 and showed me where the laundry detergent was. WOW! this store gets an A+ in my book for today. I had never been to this store before, so I had no idea where anything was. To the management of this store: you have a keeper. And her name is Norma from either Deli or Bakery. Even though my wait for check out was a long wait, I have to say, even your cashier was nice on check out station no.2. I think his name was Hector, perhaps. I worried we weren't going to make it, before HEB curbside closed. So, I called curbside and Carolyn answered. She told me not to worry, just get here. I told her I'd check in, a half hour before they closed. Which is nice here, because they don't stop curbside until 10p! At home it's 9p. We checked in as promised, and again Carolyn answered. We told her our gps showed our arrival as 9:50! She is so sweet, she stated, not to worry that, she would wait until 10:15, if we were not there by 9:50! How sweet and thoughtful is that?! She said, she knew we were coming from out of town and that we'd need our groceries tonight and didn't want us to have to return in the am to pick up. We arrived at 9:50! When we checked in Carolyn was so sweet and understanding. Just as kind, polite, friendly and patient as you can imagine. The fact that it was so late, I imagined she was probable exhausted from being on her feet and in this crazy heat all day. But you would never have known, she was so happy to see us. She walked out to greet us, with our order and she had the biggest smile on her face Carolyn wouldn't even let us help her load the groceries, as we felt bad we were so late! We use curbside a lot, several times a week. We've never had anyone come out to greet us, so happy go lucky to deliver our groceries to our car. After Carolyn loaded us up with care, she welcomed us to Rockport and sent us on our way!

This trip we stayed in a TownePlace suite, with a mini kitchen that has an oven, so we made dinner ourselves each night. We visited this HEB as it was on the way back from the beach... this is the grocery store in Port Aransas on the mainland (not on Mustang Island)... we visited on Pi day, 3.14 / 3/14 / March 14. And, like so many grocery stores now a days, they had pie specials... - $3.14 for two slices (mix n match flavors) - $3.14 for a half pie (same flavor) - $3.14 off a full pie We got a couple slices and some chicken which we grilled back at the restaurant. Ordering first, get your own drink, pick up a desert (included with meal) and sit down in the rustic themed dining area. We got there early so it wasn't crowded....yet. A very reasonable short wait and our food was brought out....a lot of it. The portions are very generous. I got brisket, sausage, pinto beans and potato salad. Wife got a beef rib, sausage and the same sides. To be very frank, two people could split one plate and be very satisfied. A desert is included and the choices were a couple of different cobblers and two or three pudding varieties. The meats: OMG. The beef rib slipped out of the meat when my wife picked up the bone. What remained on the plate could be cut with her plastic spoon. Smokey, SUPER tender and just glorious. The brisket was just as tender--cutting not really needed. It pulls apart. And like the rib, flavor on point...just incredible smokey meat flavor. I went in hungry and could only eat half of my order. The sausage was just as wonderful with a firm snap of the casing without being chewy. We both thought the potato salad was one of the best BBQ joint potato salads we've had. I thought the beans (a bit of BBQ flavor) were a little spicy, wife didn't think so at all. Even the onions and pickles were top notch....they make their own pickles. The drive from Corpus was to go here. We didn't have any other reason to go to Woodsboro or the area. TOTALLY worth the drive and if you're simply in the Refugio/Woodsboro area...this is THE place to go. And as a grocery/meat market...quaint with some of the friendliest people you're likely to meet. The meat deals they offer look great. We WILL DEFINITELY make the drive again. BTW, we've got enough leftovers for another full meal each.
