Went to Lowe's in West Saint Paul. Was at the paint counter and pushed button for help. No one came after 15 minutes. Manager were standing by the cash register and saw me waiting. He asked some random worker at Lowe's to help me with paint. The employee said he didn't know much about paint but he would try. I asked to have someone who actually knows how to mix paint to help me and was told that the paint contact was making blinds. I will never go back there again. read more

I was shocked that this location wasn't busier during my visit. I will say I wasn't impressed with the customer service. Staff ignoring customers and relaxing in clusters. Saw a lot of staff walking by me while I did my research on my purchase but no acknowledgement. You can find just about anything here. There are so many departments in the store that you'll truly need a significant amount of time to walk the entire store if you're just browsing. Wide parking lot so you shouldn't have issues finding a spot close to the door. The gardening area is big enough to be its own store lol. I didn't see staff in the area so you might have to grab someone and bring them out with you or carry whatever it is you have inside the store. I'd come back and see if I have a difference experience but as for right now it wasn't the best. I got what I needed so that's a win. read more

I've picked up online orders from here twice recently and had just ok experiences. Consistently long waits of 15+ minutes, sometimes even 30+ minutes, when employees are fetching the orders. Management seems like they have too much free time on their hands and don't bother to check in with customers who are standing around waiting--they're too busy chatting up the workers who are actually busy working. It's like pulling teeth to get someone to give an update on what's going on and why the wait has been almost an hour. Lowe's is generally more on the pricey side, but I've actually found a few great deals and prices that were lower than other competitors with the same product. That is the ONLY reason I'd shop here despite the iffy service, otherwise I do almost all of my home improvement shopping at Home Depot, Menards, or Amazon. read more

I went in to do some browsing. Ended up coming to an end cap where there was a number of sale items. Found a nice ratcheting wrench set. Brought it to the counter to check out and it was not on sale. The sales rep in that department told me it was an advertisement left over from Christmas. When I asked for them to remove the sign cuz of how misleading it was I was told that would not be an issue and they would take care of it. Be very careful going to the West Saint Paul Lowe's they pull this stuff all the time with their advertisements intentionally overcharging individuals. I should have known she was trouble considering she was complaining to another employee as I approached. I asked her if there were any 24" plant pot trays (because there are some in multiple places, and it's a large store), and she didn't even let me get the whole sentence out before gesturing at a pile of trays and snapping "Everything we have is there". First of all, not everything you have is there. There are trays outside as well. Secondly, holy crap, at least treat me like a human being and let me finish a sentence before not answering my question. I worked in retail for years, I can totally forgive someone having a bad day, but honestly the impression I got was that this is a habit more than a one-off. I'm very courteous to employees and I know I didn't do anything to deserve that. And I know she's not too busy to answer because I watched her sweep invisible dust off the floor 4x. I recently purchased a deck a month ago from Lowes, W. St. Paul. It has been a sh#t show ever sense the first day. They delivered the decking on the wrong day even after I called to schedule the day that I wanted it. It was delivered with a lot of items missing, and when I called about them they never returned my calls after promising that they would. I have two pieces that are damaged and covered under warranty and again I have made calls and calls and calls still no return calls. The pro desk say that they will call me back after checking into it, but never do. I went to the store in W. St. Paul yesterday and talked to the store manager about the poor service that I am getting, and he told me that he would check into the problem and call me today 6/5/2023. It is now almost 5 pm and not a word from the manager that said he would call. Lowes is the poorest excuse for a building store that you can imagine. We're fan's of Lowe's for a couple of reason's however they get an extra star for one specific reason. Lowe's is on our way home and since we have been working the same jobs for over 10 years, we have been driving by Lowes for a number of years. In the past we have purchased a grill, smoker, stove and various items from Lowes. Recently we started a project in our garage. Our garage is unfinished and I got the "great" idea to hand some wall panels over the existing studs. This would allow us to hang more items in our garage and (hopefully) look nicer too. So my research began. I measure the area that I needed. I learned there are all sorts of options for these wall panels as well as different sizes. I was looking for something more than drywall for one so I could do it myself and two I needed something more durable so I could hang items from the wall. Each of the big three (Menards and Home Depot) home stores carried these panels. I stopped at Menards and called a couple of Home Depots. They do not cut their panels for their customers. Well this means I either needed to cut them myself which wasn't going to happen or I would have to leave a portion of the wall unfinished, which I really didn't want to do. Reading the on-line reviews it sounded like Lowes would cut their panels for their customers. So Lowes it was. I located the panels that we needed on their website. I really that the Lowes website not only tells you what aisle your product is in but also the bin or where to find it in that aisle. These panels were pretty big (96x48) so I figured they would not be too hard to find. As we walked down the aisle this is where we were greeted by (if memory serves) Mike. Mike was extremely helpful as he not only helped us load up 4 large panels, he also cut the panel that I needed down to size. He has recommended some nails and products that would be helpful when hanging my panels. This was such a great service. There is no way we could have cut a panel that size and he cut it in a matter of seconds. Over the next couple of weekend were worked to hang these panels in our garage. As it happens I measured by about a 1/2 inch and the cut panel was just a bit too wide. We did return to Lowes and Mike happened to be working that evening. One employee actually carried our panel to the back where it was cut and we were on our way home in a matter of minutes. The service we received was great and having our panels cut was a huge help. For a simple reason and experience like that, we are likely to return to Lowes again for our future needs. read more

I can generally find what I want for home improvement projects at reasonable prices at Lowe's. When we were there over the weekend, I noted that most of the employees had masks available, but I only about half were wearing them in a way that offers any protection. Looped under your chin with your nose and mouth hanging out, sticking out of your back pocket, or even on but with your nose out aren't helping. The worst in my mind was the young woman, whom I'm guessing was a manager - not wearing a vest, directing some customers to different lanes, loudly calling to colleagues with directions - she had a mask dangling from one ear. Look, I get masks are uncomfortable and I give you credit that most employees seemed to be in possession of a mask and half were actually wearing correctly. You can do a better job of educating the other half. It would also be helpful if you made some effort toward crowd control and if you at least asked your customers to mask as well. I guess I'll be spending less with you and more with our local hardware store. read more

So I'm aware it is difficult to have sufficient staff to fulfill curbside orders. But if that is your issue - let the customer know up front! I don't have a Lowes near where I live so since it was offered, I ordered my items online and assumed it would be ready in 2-3 hours as that has been my experience with The Home Depot and The Menards. Sadly, I couldn't even get an associate on the line after 3.4 hours at The Lowes, so I waited until 5.5 hours to try again seeing online all day my order was 'being prepared', but with the voice system indicating not a single item had been pulled. This time I got a semi apologetic associated who was trying to be helpful and suggested I wait until morning and call again before coming out to Lowe's. I suspect I' drive over to be there when they open, pull what I need myself and have a manager of customer service check me out. Yes, everyone may experience trouble with sufficient staff to get the work done. Putting a notice up on the website to set customer expectations as to just what sort of turn around [and the likelihood that items in short supply might sell out] before staff could get around to pulling an order and if nothing is ready in 6 hours or 10 hours. Let us know! One star. I cannot recommend. I see how tomorrow goes. read more

I've had bad service here more than once and unfortunately it's the closest Lowes to my house so I'm kind of stuck with it. The first incident was in cabinet design. The clerk focused on what I COULDN'T DO with stone countertops. It was just "you can't do this" "you can't do that". Just a very negative attitude. It was like he didn't want to sell me anything. The second incident was in plumbing where there were two clerks in an aisle with a "gate" up and I had questions about where to find what I was looking for and the one clerk was stocking inventory and snottily said repeatedly he had no idea, that he's just stocking the items while the other person just stood there and didn't make any suggestion or say "I don't know but I can get someone who knows what you're looking for". I just got this "you're interrupting our day/we have no idea" response. I used to like Lowe's a lot more than The Home Depot but my opinion of Lowe's has gone downhill the last few years. Bought a refrigerator last Saturday and was told it was in stock and ready for delivery on Monday. Monday rolls around and we don't hear anything so we call and are told that they can't find our invoice. We argue with them and give them our info and don't hear back. We call again Wednesday and are told the same thing...wait for a call and don't hear back. Thursday and Friday? Same thing. Just got off the phone with them and "It shows an invoice but it hasn't been paid." Well, that's funny because the $2k came out of our checking account. "Oh, I found it! It says you carried it out with you." Nope, wrong we asked for delivery and were told we would have it on Monday, it's not Sunday and I'm talking to you because we still don't have it. "Oh, I'm sorry! They entered it incorrectly." Thanks for your apology, but it's been a week of being told that we didn't buy anything and that it doesn't exist." Nothing but a really lame apology and excuses. We will be getting it delivered tomorrow, but that doesn't make up for the week of having it chase down the sale and get it corrected. So not Impressed with this store or it's delivery manager. This is unacceptable. To spend $2k and have to deal with this is ridiculous. I will take my business somewhere else which is unfortunate because I have always loved Lowe's. read more

Well, Lowe's seems to be the place for us to buy appliances. We bought a stove there a couple years ago and just got the new refrigerator installed last week. They have fair prices and the floor folks are generally knowledgeable and helpful. They don't seem to mind if you're not seeking to spend a couple grand on what you need to replace. Our needs were very specific (size restrictions) and we were able to find exactly what we needed at a reasonable price. We love the new fridge, as we still love the stove. One of the things I appreciate most about Lowe's is that you can browse without being hunted or hounded by the floor salespeople. They're usually easy to find (don't go right before the dinner hour) and seem genuinely interested in solving your problem over just selling you something. read more

Hunter, the door/window/mill manager at Lowes in West Saint Paul is terrible at his job. We ordered a door from Lowes in June, they said it would be here in August and we never received an update. I called in late August and they said it was delayed, then again in September, now again in October. Not once did they call us. I had to reach out and ask every time. This is a cautionary tale about one of Lowes Installation subcontractors. First, let me say that the West St. Paul Lowes store where I made this purchase did everything in their power to help me with my problems with this installer. For that I am thankful, but Lowes Corporate really needs to think about continuing to do business with this unscrupulous installation company. This was my experience. I recently purchased a dishwasher from Lowes and paid $219.00 to Lowes for installation and disposal of my old unit. It never occurred to me to ask (or check on) which appliance company would be doing the installation. A company called MN Plumbing and Home services, 8850 204th St E, Prior Lake, MN 55372, (952) 469-8341 contacted me to arrange delivery, installation and removal of my dishwasher. What a disaster! The delivery person arrived, looked around and wouldn't even talk to me. He shook his head, called Lowes and after about 10 minutes turned around and told me that Lowes was going to call me about the installation. Lowes calls and says that the installer is demanding that I purchase additional parts to comply with code in my town. This additional parts and labor was going to cost an additional $162.00 on top of the $219.00 installation charge I had already paid or this installer was not going to do the work. I informed Lowes that this was NOT GONNA HAPPEN and demanded a full credit for the installation that I had already paid Lowes to my account. I told the installer to put the unit in my garage and called a private licensed plumber. Which, btw, I should have done in the first place! This plumber told me that there was NO CODE COMPLIANCE ISSUES with the installation of my dishwasher in my city and that all I needed was a longer supply and return hose that should be installed as part of the basic installation which I had already paid to Lowes. Off to Lowes I go where I get a refund for the initial installation and bought longer hoses for $30.00. KUDOS to WSP Lowes for that. I urge you to inform yourself about MN Plumbing and Home services! If you read their Google reviews you will find an overwhelming number of incidents of Lowes and BestBuy deliveries of appliances just like mine where this company shows up and extorts the customer for more money on the spot for work that is NOT NECESSARY or threatens to leave you high-and-dry! Also, note the reviews about their general lack of customer service. If you purchase appliances from any retailer, know what you are setting yourself up for if MN Plumbing and Home Services is the installer. You have been warned! read more

Never again We ordered a washer from Lowes at the end of April after several days we finally got a confirmation that it would be delivered Saturday May 3nd between 9am and 9pm. I took the day off of work and sat in my home the 12 hours crawled by finally it's 9 o'clock no call no email no text. I call Lowe's the next day animate form that they're not sure what I'm talking about that my delivery is set up for Wednesday the 6th. I informed them on how dissatisfied I am that I had taken A-day off from work to wait for this delivery and installation only to have wasted my day. The assure me that it is coming on Wednesday and wave the $30 recycling fee for the old washer I'm having them haul away. I take Wednesday off from my job I am informed that the delivery will be coming between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.. I get up early I get things prepared and I wait. 11am flies by. No delivery. No call. No email. I call the store and get the manager the manager tells me I am slated for delivery today but hes not sure what's going on he tells me he will call me back very soon or the driver will call me. Another half an hour goes by I call back go through the also long and tedious automated phone system and ask to talk to a manager. The kid at customer service asks what the call is about I give him the short version of what's going on and he agrees to put me on hold and then hangs up on me. I call back 3 more times get hung up on 3 more times. I finally call again and yet the same kid I explain the situation to him again and he says you're scheduled for delivery today if you don't see them within 2 hours call me back I told them I will not be calling them back that I want to know when delivery was coming so I'm not gonna waste my entire day again. He then lets me know that hes not a manager and he can answer that question and I once again get hung up on. I am for my wife to put her shoes on that we are going to drive down to Lowe's and either get a straight answer or get our money back. Half a mile from home the delivery driver (the only employee on this whole ordeal who wasn't an complete and utter f**king imbecile) called to say he was 10 minutes away. He arrived, delivered installed the new washer and hauled away the old one and apologized profusely for the delays. So in the end if you're looking to deal with a company that would be better off replacing 99% of their employees with chimpanzees then feel free to deal with Lowes. read more

"Can I help you find something?" was asked of me at least 3 times while I was shopping here. The yard leaf bags were right before you entered the store. Very competatively priced at 5 bags for $2.00. I grabbed 4. I don't really shop at Lowe's as all we have are Home Depots in my area. I meandered toward plants and was asked again if I needed help finding something. Grabbed some potting soil to repot a plant. Just as I found the bathroom, I was asked again. Found a battery/ plug in carbon monoxide detector that will be checked on housing inspection for window replacement. Friendly staff can be found everywhere. Also have bargain plants if you are a green thumb and can revitalize fairly cheap. A small Venus flytrap was $1.00. Would return next time in area. read more

I ordered two doors from the store, and at first the store lost my quote, then they hung up on me twice, and for some reason I still decided to buy from them. I put over $5,500.00 up front for the doors, and it took them seven visits and over 5 1/2 months to finish the project. I had plywood covering my back door entryway for almost a month and a half because they ordered the wrong size door. Customer service is atrocious, the management is laughable, and the corporate executive response team sounds like they should be taking naps because she fell asleep leaving me a message. Update: My fiance and I chose Lowe's to redo our roof earlier this year and the whole experience was a mess! While the contractor, Eric had started out the project for us, he left the company half way through and there was NO communication about it from Lowes. It was a whole run around of who our contact person should be when initially Eric had promised that Lowes would handle everything. Also, the roof quote was submitted with several errors so when the actual roofers came to the house they realized they needed to buy MORE supplies (like $7k worth). We had to wait an extra week while they got the supplies. Moreover, we weren't very happy with the quality of the roofers' work and had to contact Lowes several times to have them come back out and fix it. Also, the roofers left a bunch of building materials outside our house after the roof was complete and it was like pulling teeth trying to get them to pick it up. What a headache! We couldn't wait for the roof to be done so we could wash out hands of Lowes. I will give a shot out to the employee, Jackie who was made Eric's interim... she walked into a shit storm but did a nice job trying to pick up the pieces. read more

Most recently I needed replacement Armstrong ceiling tiles. I brought the old one in, Armstrong's website told me the Lowe's store I was in had the product, but I couldn't find it and the kid at the customer service counter wouldn't even scan the bar code in the ceiling tile I had to see if they had it in stock, he seemed clueless and like he didn't have time to help me. I walked out and went to Menard's down the street where a knowledgeable worker took me right to the product I needed. I am done with Lowe's in West St. Paul. I bought my entire flooring and cabinets at this store. Tony in flooring is such a great help. Grant was another good employee. Unfortunately, when it's time for me to check out the cashier ruin my entire shopping experience. First of all she wasted my time waiting for all my purchase to make it to the front. My items was already invoiced and all she needs to do is to just ring up my merchandise. I had some flooring that needed to be loaded and she won't allow me to get it started to load . I told her I'm not going anywhere and I am ready to pay. She just ignore me. I got tired of waiting and requested for the manager. Craig shows up and I explained to him my problem. I was shock that Craig assumed that my credit card might not be approve and he made a statement that state he has no trust on customers of Lowes. I told him my purchase is only less than two thousand dollars and my credit card has a 30 thousand dollars limit. So why would he assumed that I am not able to pay my merchandise. Maybe because I'm Asian. I was really upset and offended that Lowes has employees who are not properly train to handle customer care. Never judge a customer by their looks or how they are dressed. Telling a customer that you don't know if they have the funds to pay the merchandise is extremely unprofessional. Why would you even assume that! I know what I have on my account I will never buy anything without money. Lowes need to train their employees especially manager on how to treat customers well. I wish I would've read these reviews before purchasing our washer/dryer at Lowe's on Robert Street. We went there on a Monday after our washer quit working over the weekend and decided not to look elsewhere because they had the washer and dryer in stock and said they could deliver both on Friday. Neither showed up Friday. When we called to ask why, they said only the dryer was in stock now and they could deliver that the next day, which they did, but we'd have to wait until Thursday for the washer. Thursday came, no washer. When I called to find out why, they said it was a mess-up in the system, but they do have it in stock and could deliver the next day. Today is the next day. Still no washer, three attempts and one week after it was supposed to be here. I should also mention that when calling in, I was repeatedly put on hold for 15+ minutes and hung up on. Even more exciting, they're telling us their records show that both the washer and dryer were delivered. I have the empty space in my laundry room and the mountain of dirty clothes to prove that it was not. We have an entire kitchen to outfit with appliances next, and I will definitely NOT be shopping for them at Lowe's. read more

Here's how I tend to break down the big chain hardware stores: _____ - Menards: Cheapest overall prices on very basic quality goods; there aren't many 'high-end' things here in my opinion or even things that come close to looking high-end. Also, all the wood is always so warped and gnarly that I've seen Gandalf sifting through the baseboards for new staves. No homo. - Lowe's: Higher prices but much wider selections and a good deal of high-end merchandise. I avoid buying basic things here but I make it a point to come to Lowe's if I'm looking for larger items (vanities, saws, appliances... etc) that demand quality. - Home Depot: How about no. This place combines the worst of both worlds--crappy quality coupled with high prices--and has the worst customer service of all three. I'm not saying the employees are assholes, mind you; they're just incredibly hard to find. It feels a little like going on a safari when you need help. A really, really shitty safari where everything hides in the bush and nothing comes near you even when you're struggling to move under the weight of your delicious homemade bratwurst net. Definitely homo. _____ Lowe's has AMAZING deals on scratch-and-dents, customer returns and special order returns that are typically sitting in random places scattered throughout the store. Jenny and I walked in one night looking for something completely unrelated and walked out with a 300 dollar stainless steel fridge that was originally 950 bucks. It had a minor dent on the bottom right side that was going to be hidden anyway. Cha-ching, muthafuckas. On a separate occasion, we left the store with a 1200 dollar stainless steel gas stove with five burners for 600 bucks. It, too, had a minor dent on the bottom right that we were able to fix with a rubber mallet and a screwdriver. Don't hate. I ordered two items one month ago. One was to come from a different store. I've called 4 times. Getting through on the phone is difficult. I've been told to call back 3 times now. On third call, was told store transfer order wasn't done properly and they might have corrected the order, that was a week ago, I dunno, it's 4:15, and apparently I needed to call by 4 pm. I'm also having an appliance installed through the store....I made the appointment for this afternoon and yesterday was told you can't make morning vs afternoon appts-they will call you the day before and tell you if it will be morning or afternoon.
