First visit to Gertens. Wow! What a place. If you need something for gardening and you can't find it here, it doesn't exist. You are first greeted with parking. Don't let it intimidate you. People are coming and going frequently and I saw spots opening all the time. If you know exactly what you want, ask one of the employees. They are all over the place and knowledgeable about the stock. If you want to browse, grab a cart and enjoy all the beautiful colors and shapes of the plants. The variety is great. I'd definitely go back. read more

Went here for an advertised event I seen on social media called Gertens after dark. They basically stay open a bit later, they had music playing, food trucks and you could get a drink or mocktail while you shop special deals. I had never been here but knew it was mostly a gardening store. They had so much!! I do like that they sell starter veggies and herbs, they even had catnip. They did have some premade hanger plants for on sale which looked great. Looks like they are running this event a few times this month so definitely worth checking out. You can preorder a drink for $7 and you get a cute reusable cup with a lid. The staff were nice & helpful. They have plenty of parking. read more

Yesterday morning, I visited Gertens with my very pregnant sister-in-law and her two young children. We were genuinely excited to enjoy a fun fall morning together and have the kind of family experience we have always associated with Gertens. When we were ready to leave, I noticed that Customer Service was checking out customers. I completed my purchase there and suggested that my sister-in-law do the same, simply because she is very pregnant, had two young children with her, and I wanted to make getting out the door as easy as possible for her. Unfortunately, an interaction with an employee named Helena completely changed the tone of our visit. Helena, who had originally checked me out, approached me, came uncomfortably close to my face, and very pointedly told me that the employees working the regular checkout lanes were more than capable of checking us out. I was honestly taken aback by both her demeanor and the way she chose to address me. If Customer Service was not the appropriate place for us to check out, that could have been communicated politely and professionally. There was absolutely no need to approach me in such a confrontational manner over something so minor--especially when I had just been trying to make things a little easier for my very pregnant sister-in-law and her children. What bothered me most was not being redirected to another checkout lane. It was the lack of courtesy and kindness in the interaction. Customer service is often less about what you say and more about how you say it, and this interaction left all of us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. We came to Gertens excited for a fun fall family outing. It is incredibly disappointing that such an unnecessary interaction is what stood out at the end of what should have been a wonderful morning. I hope Gertens takes this feedback seriously. read more

One-stop shop for all of your outdoor needs! Gertens has everything -- flowers, herbs, trees, soil, fertilizer, planters, seeds, mulch, and more. It gets super busy on the weekends. I went 15 minutes after opening and the parking lot was almost full already. You can park along the street leading up to Gertens but it isn't ideal. You can purchase mulch at the cashier and receive an order slip, then you can pull your car up to the front and they will load your vehicle up with the mulch. read more

I absolutely love Gertens! They have high quality plants for every season. I've mostly visited Gertens in the spring time for spring plants and gardening. Every plant I have purchased from them is hearty and lives for a lot longer than other plants I've purchased elsewhere. This visit I attended their free poinsettia greenhouse tour. This tour provides a behind the scenes look at their growing process. After the tour I shopped in their storeroom that is beautifully decorated for the holidays. It's like walking into a winter wonderland. Gertens has your plant needs covered for any season! You must check them out! read more

This is the place to go! They have such a great variety of most plants, perennials and annuals. They also offer seeds, trees, landscaping and a great gift center. Everything is visibly priced and their staff are so knowledgeable and always sooooo helpful. It can be crazy town during peak seasons and on the weekends. We shop here for every season!! At Christmas they have every type of light you'd ever want and every color too. Gertens is the best!! read more

Typically I head to Gertens in the warmer months for my gardening needs but on a cold Saturday recently a friend and I needed a change of pace. We decided to go plan shopping, and we're better to go than one of our favorite nurseries. We had such a phenomenally good time. The selection at Gertens is fantastic. So many different types of plants and succulents everything you could want to fill your house with green joy. Let's planters and all the accessories and foods. It's also important is the service. Everyone was so knowledgeable and willing to help. It is a wonderful place to shop. And a fun place to stop when you just need a little warmth. read more

This is my favorite nursery, and I shop here every year for mulch, soil, perennials, vegetables, herbs, and annuals. Today, I shopped for perennials, and got here when they opened at 7am to try and beat the crowd. They have an amazing selection and the staff are very helpful. This time of year, they even have staff to help load your vehicle with heavy bags of soil etc. There is a large parking lot. Be prepared for sensory overload, as the volume of choices here is ginormous, but that's one of its strengths! read more

The staff at Gertens were probably the most helpful people I've ever run into at a nursery. From the moment we arrived people knew where things were located, helped us with our cart, offered to get us another cart, walked us to where the plastic was next to the vending machines and loaded our car. The plants are in exceptional condition. The prices are very fair. I highly recommend this nursery. read more

I know mothers day is probably not the best day to go to a flower shop. But thats what we did. Its big and expansive and you can probably find anything you might be looking for in there. There are two main issues I have. I can't make sense of how it's organized and I felt like there should have been more perenials. I would go again on a less busy time and see if I can make sense of the layout. the price was reasonable. read more

We were doing a landscaping project that involved materials that I had questions about, the possibility of delivery with a dump truck that I knew nothing about, and a tight timeframe. I called Gertens five times, spoke to a different person every time, and each one was friendly and so so helpful. Major props to the team answering the customer phone lines- you guys were great in helping us choose the correct options to order and our delivery came when you told us it would. Would absolutely recommend! read more

Girls' Night Out! What a treat! They do several for the holidays and tickets sell out right away. Great value, as you get coupons and gifts and a charcuterie treat, a dessert and a drink. So fun to browse through the beautiful Christmas decorations and gift shop. Of course you will spend money, but well worth it! Enjoy the photos. read more

Hometown fave-this place is amazing. I grew up in the area and to see the success of Gergen's is awesome. I stopped in for a new houseplant and the selection was huge and I ended up with plants and a couple of new pots! Always super friendly staff and reasonable prices. Def recommend!! read more

I've been coming to this nursery for years and it's consistently one of my favorite places for plants. They always have a great variety--whether I'm looking for flowers, veggies, or something new to experiment with, I usually find it here. Prices are pretty fair overall, especially considering the selection and quality. It's clear they care about their plants and their customers. Highly recommend for anyone looking to add something special to their garden or yard! read more

I ordered and paid for plants online and picked up the same day. The next day I was invoiced for an additional $250 worth of plants I did not order or pick up. Calls and emails to be sure my credit card was not charged went unanswered. Hard to believe someone at Gertens would randomly charge me for plants I did not order or pick up and even more, that no one at Gertens thought it important enough to call or return an email explaining what happened and be sure my card was not charged. read more

So much fun!! I had no idea Gertens did these workshops! Well worth the money as I could not purchase everything to make the planters at that price. Amazing service, got great help with my tree purchase. Bought a tree that died and easily got it replaced.

if you want to have your name spelled wrong, have your order of pavers for delivery delayed by literal weeks, get treated poorly by staff because you called to ask for updates on said delivery, be given different answers from different staff members on the status of the pavers, then after 2 weeks have them call you to ask for MORE MONEY because they put in the wrong tax code when you ordered, then this Gerten's is for you! read more

Sometimes my idiocy know no bounds. I've never been here. I was tired of the rip offs at grocery stores. Then I found two beautiful plants for my front porch at $30 each and they're huge. I love the inside store and picked up a lavender dish soap. Another thing I won't get at a grocery store. Never again will I buy plants in the cities but here. read more

Abundant in every way. Varying sections to explore Minnesota's largest selection of plants on a huge extended property line. There is a big parking lot on-site but be warned, it fills up quickly especially on the weekends. The on-site staff is outstanding as you will always find a helper nearby for any questions or clarifications. Stretch carts are offered for larger hauls making it a seamless process especially when purchasing trees. There's an interior gift shop that sells your Patina type goodies such as t-shirts, soaps, hand towels, etc. along with a great grill section that has various rubs, traegers, aprons, and BBQ tool sets. I could go on and on about the plants, mulch, hanging baskets, etc. but you'll have to witness the beauty for yourself. We got lucky and had North Star Donuts food truck serving donuts and cold brew which are the perfect combo for shopping in April. Happy gardening, BBQ'ing or gift shop buying! Gertens is a one stop shop for everything you need - 5 stars. I feel really old here but I have to admit, I haven't been to Gertens in well over...20 years! I live in the NW burbs, pretty much the opposite side of the Twin Cities. I made the trip across town to specifically look for giant outdoor planter pots for both sides of my driveway gate. I was looking for 2 big & bold & colorful statement pieces, possibly commercial sized planters. I'm nearly at a loss for words about the size and scope of Gertens. So, so, impressive! They have many acres of EVERYTHING. I've been to many nurseries over the years and I'll be so bold as to call Gertens THE premier nursery in Minnesota. And it seems to be run with military precision. Despite the physical size, the multiple buildings, and the crowds of people, I found parking to be very convenient. They also have tons of employees and I was asked several times if I needed help as I wondered around like a lost puppy. The customer service is great. I even found an outdoor desk with a couple of Master Gardeners on hand to answer questions. This is an amazing place! I found my giant pots. I also checked out many other items that I was interested in like ponds, pond plants, ornamental grasses, and sages. Thumbs up! -Maxx read more

Gerten is kind of like going to the Como Conservatory but you get to bring things home. The selection of things are nice, and what I do like is that some of the tomato and pepper plants are already getting big and will start bearing fruit before anything else you have planted. Gerten's has become a behemoth in the south metro. The place is always busy but if you go after work? You can enjoy the place. read more

We came here an hour before it closed and I did not have enough time. They have a separate house plant area and they also have a main area with a lot of goodies. The young staff is normally pretty good about being helpful. However, this spring has been an exception. I was looked over many, many times as I struggled to lift or push my items and my cart. We did a full landscaping project around our house, and it was nice to find out they have free delivery with a minimum order. The landscapers put rock down a little too tightly around some of the plants, and they didn't grow back the following spring, but Gerten's was great about letting us pick out new ones. Definitely will be going back for all of our future landscape purchases. read more

This place is an absolute gem for the Twin Cities! The store looks different every time I go depending on what season it is, and I always leave with a full cart of beautiful plants and gifts. When I re-did my landscaping last Summer, I asked the landscapers to get all the plants from Gertens and they simply emailed me back with a "We only use Gertens already!" I moved to the west metro but still make the drive to Gertens at least twice a year since no one has a bigger selection of perennials. read more

Gertens is my go-to garden center in Dakota County. I have been a customer for over 6 years and have always had good luck with their plants and products. I have bought everything from citrus trees, palm trees, tropicals, berry bushes, vegetables, herbs, perennials, and annuals and have been satisfied with all of their plants. They have a huge selection and variety so there is always something to catch your eye. You won't find as many rare or unique plants like at Highland Nursery but from time to time you might be surprised (especially in their tropicals selection - Avocado Trees!). And with their awesome plant policy, if you unintentionally kill your plant, you can get a refund, no questions asked. You don't have to bring in the dead plant, labels, soil sample, nothing. Seriously, their customer service is top notch. Make sure to join their rewards program to take advantage of the return policy. They also have a great selection of gifts and outdoor furniture (a little on the pricey side for my tastes). The gift areas are especially fun to look through during the Halloween and Christmas holidays. They also have a large selection of Dept. 56 Holiday Villages for sale during the holidays which is awesome because it can be hard to find a physical retailer who does. A little hint for you to try - their Christmas decoration backdrops easily make wonderful Christmas cards! Besides plants and gifts they also have a large selection of bird feeding supplies, gardening supplies, fairy garden items, BBQ grilling supplies, and even fresh produce from spring through fall. Also, keep any eye out for their events that happen throughout the year, very fun and well organized. Easy 5 star location. read more

To whom it may concern, I live in Minnetonka and typically drive all the way to Gertens just to get my firewood, I have been doing this for many years now. I drive there for the great quality, clean fire wood gertens always has. Unfortunately I purchased a truck load of the fire wood this last Saturday and when I got home to unload it it was filthy wood, giant amounts of dirt mixed in. Also, seemed as if it may have gotten wetat some point along with a really bad blend.. hardly no birch.. I typically never have issues but this time it was very disappointing and a waste of time money, effort and gas. I also wrote in a "contact us" request to gertens on Sunday and never got a response. I would appreciate someone to reach out. read more
