Recently we ordered a Safe online to be delivered. Last Friday we received our 224 pound safe. The problem was is that their shipper decided to leave our delivery at the end of our driveway and half in the street on a pallet nowhere near our house/garage. I am handicapped and home alone. So I had to figure out and hire a couple people to move our safe from the road on the ground to our porch before it got stolen. Not only stolen but so at least I can get it in our home. It's backed up even at the customer service on Christmas Eve day. 3-4 people in line for returns. Rest of the store is pretty lightly populated. Bought 3 pairs of these thermal socks for my mum, she walks every day outside for exercise and her feet are always cold. Bought 2 pairs for her 7.5 sized feet. These socks are hugely big and are not snug at all. As such they move around too much in boots and shoes. They might fit size 9-10 women with extra wide feet, if I had to guess. Return was easy. They had 3 associates working the return counter. 2 of the 3 staff had their masks on below their noses, luckily there's a plexi glass divider. read more

Lowe's used to distinguish itself from other Big Box home stores by offering decent customer service and actual people staffing check-out lanes. No more. They have sunk to the low level of their competitors, with few if any employees on the floor and self-checkout stations only during most hours. Also, their inventory control is atrocious; claims on their website that items are in stock in a certain aisle and bay are almost always wrong, with items marked as available nowhere to be found, and locations either off by entire aisles or simply nonexistent. Stock is generally very messy; sometimes if an item can't be found, digging diligently nearby may turn up something. I used to strongly prefer this store over nearby competitors, but now it is just as frustrating and depressing to shop here as elsewhere. read more

I was meeting my contractor who was finishing up repairs in the kitchen of one of the rental properties we manage. As I was driving south on Telegraph Road toward the property I got a text message asking if I would pick up some Grey Silicon Caulk to seal the counter top. As luck would have it, I was close to 12 Mile Road and spotted this Lowe's location and drove to the parking lot. I parked and walked in. When I entered I assumed that caulk would be somewhere near the paint area so I checked the aisle markers, found paint, and headed that way. On the way I ran into one of Lowe's employees and asked to confirm I was heading in the right direction, I was. But she specified the correct aisle number and told me at the end of the aisle on the left...and there it was. The caulk area was in partial disarray so I searched for a few minutes without any luck. I found an employee for that area who was finishing up with another customer. He indicated he would help me next. After a few minutes he came to help me. He didn't immediately find it but then spotted an unopened box above the normal product shelves and brought it down. He got one out and handed it to me; then I headed to the checkout. At checkout I asked about a Veterans discount and they confirmed a 10% discount program for veterans which I received after showing my veteran designation on my drivers license. All in all a quick and fruitful stop, helpful people and I was on my way to the house. read more

The Touch of Class LLC is delivering for Lowes. In over 20 years I have never had a delivery so messed up and damage to my property. I know Lowe's is short handed but I would rather wait than them using this company. The first delivery person did not know how to take doors from frig so it could fit through doorway. Stove was hooked up but couldn't figure out to turn gas back on! Also damaged new tile with scrapes from stove, scraped washer on white washer on black front door instead of bringing in back door which led straight to basement, strip of molding scraped and one completely broken in pieces! Delivered dryer and did not hook up. It was going in same place an original dryer had been but they claimed gas line needed to be some placed closer! Redelivered frig and now doors are damaged. Scheduled another redelivery and was notified same day that they were delivering to my old address of 2 years ago in Illinois!!! So once again rescheduled!! How can you exchange something from an address that you haven't delivered to. This is ridiculous!! Also if this company does not pay damages I have to go get estimates to submit and then submit Lowes claim department! read more

I had a horrible experience with a so called manager by the name of Dustin Wilkinson athe the store today. he was extremely unprofessional when I asked for assistance in the paint department. he started off by talking to me rudely and did not exhibit any appropriate customer service skills. please do not go to this location... the manager Justin lacks managerial skills. delegation of tasks and customer service. I asked to see him before I left the store and he refused to come out. If I could give 0 stars I would. I placed an online order with curbside pickup. When you pull into the spot you check in and include your spot number. After waiting over 20 minutes I called the store number listed and it was not answered. I then went inside the store to find there were only 2 employees working at the customer service desk and there was a line of customers waiting. The 2 employees clearly looked overworked and annoyed with their jobs. Some of the customers began going into the store and getting their own items because the employees couldn't find them. i was missing one item in a delivery and one of the paints I ordered was the wrong color. the two women in customer service were nice, they checked on my order and i could tell they were confused because it said it was delivered but they believed me when i told them it wasn't which i appreciated lol and i got my missing item no problem. also the woman in the paint section was quick and helpful when i exchanged the paints. i see a lot of negative reviews but i had an easy experience with returns/exchanges. It was an order of several items+paints, I understand that mix ups happen and I don't really care, i just appreciate that it was taken care of without any issues. i gave 4 stars because of the initial order being slightly wrong but service at the store i have no complaints read more

The appliance dept employee told me he could not get the item I wanted. No explanation other than he could not get it. I asked if it was out of stock, and he said ok. I saw on the screen where it showed 20 in stock at vendor. This was an online order. I left and went to another store and they ordered it for me without an issue. Southfield store has poor customer service, but I went against my better judgement and gave it a try. Never again ! This was a Caucasian male, did not remember his name. Ordered an interior and storm door in 2022. Installed November 2022. Interior door damaged, and reorderEd. January 26, 2023, reorder interior door installed unsatisfactory and storm door damaged. It's March 10th and I am still waiting for resolution. Follow-up is mines and not Lowes. Highly disappointed. Follow-up has been with install, corporate and the store. March 5th visited the door, followup March 6th, Elite Doors, the installer to reach out, to assess, still waiting but let me not mention they came out Feb 2nd to assess. read more

The few times I come to this location, I can never get serviced! I came today because I was looking for a particular plant. I went to the garden department to ask for help and only saw two young men. They unfortunately were not able to assist me. They stated they were two new hires and was unfamiliar. At this point I've been in the store for about 20 mins looking for a worker. I go to the return service desk and ask if I could get assistance at the garden department. She called someone to that department and they NEVER came!! The Sales Associate was very nice but I was not notified when I made the online purchase that a face-to-face signature was required for curbside pickup. I found this very disturbing during this time of social isolation. This process puts your sales associates, customers, and general public in danger of unnecessary exposure to the Coronavirus. Don't go here if you are a DIY consumer. Went to this location to buy building materials. Couldn't get anyone to help us put the sheets on the flatbed. Asked the person at the pro desk to call for assistance but no one came. So with much effort we loaded 11 sheets of wood from an upper shelf onto the cart ourselves. Then we were looking for vinyl siding. The pro desk didn't know. Asked another guy behind the desk.l, he was intensely reading his cell phone. Tried to get his attention several times. Finally, we walked up to the counter to ask him again for the location of the siding. Without looking up from his phone (during all of this time) he told us the aisle number. Horrible damn store! So you're standing in a line of about 7 other customers just before the 9pm closing time. Not after 9pm, but let's say 8:50pm. The customers at the registers are getting everything rung up but it's taking a bit of time. Fine. Cool. No problem. Everyone should be patient. 9PM hits and the registers shut down not allowing any of the customers that were already in line to make their purchases. What the hell kind of setup is that?! Who's at fault for the line moving slow? Don't penalize the customers that are already in line. Stop anyone else from coming in the store, but finish with those that are already in there. DON'T. Go somewhere else, pay a bit more if you have to. First week in June we go to the store in desperate need of a new dishwasher. I explain this to the person running appliances. He finds a Maytag we can live with, in stock. Tells us it can be installed and old unit hauled away in 48 hours. We pay for the unit, hook up kit, install and haul away. Then wait for a week. Finally get through to Lowe's, and they get an installer to bring the new unit out. It's hooked up, installer leaves (without testing it, wife and I both working from home with 3 kids and can't supervise). Sprays water all over our kitchen floor on the first run. Call Lowe's, on hold for over an hour. Told a new unit will be in store in a week, they'll call me. Week goes by, no call. Get in touch with Lowe's corporate, who, along with me is put on hold by the store for OVER AN HOUR. Lowe's corporate finally gets in touch with the install company, who can be out in a week. They came today. Hooked up the new unit, started to slide it under the counter, and THAT's when they see the door has been severely dented on its side. Turn it on, WATER EVERYWHERE. Just spent an hour in the store trying to get a different make in stock installed yet today. Told "good luck, we're at the mercy of our installation service." I asked for a full refund. Was told the manager would have to do that, but she was busy, and it could take up to an hour. I work for a freakin' living, and am being held hostage by this POS organization. Will be contacting the State Attorney General and BBS. read more

And guess who has THE WRONG CARPET!? My house has been a wreck for 5 days since I had to clear out the bedrooms for install. First, I was met with an incompetent worker when I called and inquired about wood dowels 10 x 40 MM then after sitting on hold for 31 minutes I ended up having the call ended while being on hold for someone from the wood department to go ahead and answer my question because the woman at customer service was too incompetent to answer the question then following that second phone call I called back for a third time I asked to speak to a supervisor I was placed on the phone with a man under the name Jeff, who claims he is management With that being said, I gave them the exact measurements of what it was, that I was looking for he paused for about one or two minutes then said "yes, we have them in stock" and things of that nature. I then proceeded to come to this particular establishment and I was met with lies. There arent any here in the stock with those exact measurements so with that being said, it is highly not recommended because they're freaking incompetent. With all this being said Shop at HOME DEPOT they literally fixed my issue in under 3 minutes. read more

Bought a fridge from this store. Two delivery attempts with each attempt having a damaged fridge. We refused delivery of the first fridge since the damage was in the area of the compressor and tank. Paid $20 to have the old fridge removed and the delivery team refused to do haul away on second delivery. Decided to refuse the second delivery because of no haul away (after already being charged) and dent and canceled the order. 5 weeks between order and two delivery attempts. I was transplanting a ten year old Japanese maple so off I was to Lowe's for some dirt and peat moss. Before I could get both feet in the front door, a man with a company vest on pushed a cart my way. How nice. Then, then...he wipes the handle and child seat with one of those towelettes--extra large. I didn't even have a kid with me. I looked at him and said, Really? He said, Really. I felt I ought to have tipped him. The 15%/$5 tip I left a lousy server last week got five more bucks than the Lowe's dude. A month ago I got ignored, insulted, and lied to at the same store---in the same visit. I politely passed on my experience to the manager, who was receptive. It took me, on that visit, forty seven minutes to buy ten feet of wire. I got over it right away and life went on. I accidentally posted this to a Lowe's in Madison Heights. Here's my post from early March: We have had some horrible experiences with staff being unable to help us find many common items or provide recommendations on some very simple things (deck stain, patio sealant, etc.) but we recently ordered carpet installation and were very happy with how patient the salesperson was (Jerron?) and with him providing advice on the best type of carpet for our needs. We also talked to Jake in the flooring department previously, and he too was helpful. The estimate was very thorough, and although we are spending more than we planned, it's to do a lot more of our house with a really nice product. An update to come after the installation... hopefully without a star loss. Otherwise, the workers ignore you and say they don't know how to provide any answers for your home improvement inquiries when you actually manage to get one cornered. read more

Paint counter service was great- the employees were knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging. The wait wasn't too long and we didn't have to push the button for help or track someone down. The cashier, on the other hand, was awful. She scanned our paint wrong so that it didn't save the color and finish to our MyLowes account, even though we explicitly told her we wanted that. She also didn't offer us a bag for small items. I've had similar experiences with checkout at this Lowe's before. I recommend the Allen Park location instead. read more

Bought a washer and dryer from the Southfield Lowe's and have had nothing but issues from service, delivery, customer service and employees in general. Washer and dryer were delivered but the guys left without checking to see if the washer and dryer were operating properly. They didn't turn the water or gas back on and I, not knowing this, tried to use them and thought they were defective. Contacted Lowe's on Friday, after over a hour on the phone with them I was told that a service person would come out today, which is Monday. I have been trying to reach someone by phone since 7 this morning, it's now 11:30 am and I'm sitting on hold to speak with the store manager. I am a loyal Lowe's customer but based on this experience will shop Home Depot from now on. read more

During a recent and ultimately pointless visit to the store looking for an item that was "in stock", an employee told me that the "website is wrong." Thanks guys! I had a terrible experience. I purchased 2 doors to have installed in OCTOBER of last year 2020. They are just installing the doors in February of this year 2021. They subcontracted of course, and Elite Construction is terrible. First they scheduled a Guy who came by himself. He was late to the appointment and took the entire day to install one door. Then he told me because he couldn't put the vinyl molding back up that he wasn't trained to do so. He would leave a note on file to have them schedule someone else. He was at my house until 6pm. But didn't finish the job. Then I had to call them, they didn't call me, to get them to schedule to put the other door in. The other guys were okay, they did a decent job. Meanwhile the molding still wasn't fixed on the first door. So again, I'm calling them to come back out. left a message, they never returned my call. I Call again in a few days. Now they tell me it's not part of the contract to put back up the molding they took down to finish the door installation. SO, I called Lowes, talked to "coordinator" who stated they should have finished the molding and they would call me back. I waited a week and 4 days. I called them back again. Lowes never called me back to update me, and here I am calling today. Only for the "coordinator" to tell me well they can't put it up with out the additional charge. Now they have been to my home, Measured, had all the opportunity in the world to say this may be an additional charge. Yet they did not. They don't call people back at all. Which is poor customer service, Then You pay more than adequate amount to have them contract to someone else- who then treats you like you getting something for free- DONT GO TO THIS PLACE. I am being given the run around and having to call them because they clearly don't care about their customers. I will never even purchase a lightbulb from here ever again. read more
