I'd have given 5 stars but the recent customer service experience is something not to be repeated. We were next in line at their customer service/pickup/return station. Out of the two registers open at the time, one was occupied with a customer who appeared to have bought dozens of things. By all accounts, the staff at the other register was making small talk with the customer and their child while waiting on something. Two other staff walked through the area and none asked or offered to assist while we waited for what seemed like about 10 minutes. What I expected was someone to acknowledge us and at least give the impression that they cared. Otherwise, I generally have a decent experience here and using the self-checkout helps circumvent predicaments like above. Their outdoor garden centre and indoor plants are comparable to others in the area in terms of selection and pricing, and staff have generally been helpful. I hope they continue to improve. read more

This place tries to trick people by putting a big sale sign in front of a table that has certain price and then at the register that price doesn't come up. I think they hope people don't notice and pay the original price anyway, not realizing until later, (especially with a full cart, you might not notice). Disgusting practice. The manager (at least the one there on Sunday night on 12/8/24), is a little Napoleon type that seems to relish that he has that tiny bit of power and can tell people they must pay the price on the tag, no matter what the giant sale sign says. He was incredibly rude for no reason (the checkout lady was normal and nice btw. I feel bad for her that he is the manager and not her. Lowe's Home Improvement store has just about everything that one would need for a job that they are doing at home or on the job. I came here because I'm looking to put in a deck at home or at least sure up the deck that I have currently at my house in the backyard again a floating deck like I put up at my camp it's a lot older but I'm not going into doing a whole lot of work on that. My experience at Lowe's is one that I definitely recommend, for me it's like I'm walking around in a candy store! It is also like I'm walking around in that candy store without any money!! LOL! Because I can't buy everything that I want to buy. So it's kind of along the lines of look but don't touch kind of thing and dream but understand that it is a dream. I got everything that I needed there quite quickly, everything was stocked up and everything was very neat in that store, actually it looked pretty good. The reason why I drop down the star is because it just seems like whenever you need help and needed somebody to talk to or to ask if they can tell you where something is, they were like cockroaches, they Scurry in every direction but towards (You) the person who needs to ask the question. I see people that work there all around but every time I walk towards the person with a seeming look like I have a question, it seems like they go the other direction or they go down another aisle or they turn and walk away. They do something else almost like they don't have enough time to take a couple seconds out of their day to answer a question and that is kind of bothering to me. Now granted they could be off the clock and I just don't know it and they're walking through the aisle getting ready to leave and all the sudden some customer comes walking up to them and says hey can you help me and now because they're wearing a Lowe's uniform they feel obligated to have to help that customer out even though they're off the clock but, it's better to be truthful with that customer and just say I'm sorry I'm off the clock and I'm heading out the door at this point and point them in the direction of somebody else who could help them rather than running to a different direction to avoid them altogether not saying that that's what happened, just saying if that's the scenario. At the end of the day it's a great place to shop for all your home improvement needs, really! I don't recommend their credit card but then again I don't recommend credit cards at all period. But if you would like to have a shopping experience where you find pretty much everything that you would need this would be the place to go for your home improvement needs. I am a frequent customer at the Niskayuna NY Lowe's location. I am usually reasonably pleased with the products and service there. Unfortunately today I have a concern/ complaint that is COVID related. The last two times I have shopped in the store I have voiced my concern - today at about 5:30pm in order to checkout, customers were required to stand in a single- socially distanced line extending into the Paint Dept while we were funneled to two checkout lines that are RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. The distance between the two registers is just 6 feet. While I check out at one line, another customer is just behind me- too close for comfort. At the registers are flyers indicating the required distances and yet they disregard this. These are register lanes 9 and 10. All that they had to do was skip one register ... About a month ago I expressed my concerns and frustration regarding the same exact situation to a front end supervisor as she was there, while the manager I requested never arrived. Today I requested to talk to the store manager, he did not arrive but I talked to a customer service supervisor. He seemed to respond, but did he really? What about next time? Who decides which cash registers to open? Also, on a different note, several customers were not wearing masks and a few store employees I walked past was wearing his mask (incorrectly) under his nose. This is against state mandated guidelines, both store employees and customers are not being protected. (Customers without masks should be asked to leave and return with their masks on.) Come on people, wear your masks! This a a pandemic... shape up! Please correct store policies to protect your customers and staff. read more

This was an online order that was assigned to the lowes in Niskayuna, NY for fulfillment. The order was made 06/09 and I only ordered it because the online system said it would be delivered 06/11. I waited home, canceled all plans on a beautiful saturday, but halfway through the day, the online system changed the delivery date to Wednesday 06/15. Around 10am on 06/15 the delivery window was updated in the system to show a 4pm-8pm delivery window. I was forced to cancel dinner plans that I had for months with dear friends. Well, no delivery happened. Around 10pm at night, the system updated the delivery date to 06/18. No one ever called me to explain any of these changes and no shows. I wasted hours on hold listening to ear mangling on-hold music to speak to mostly unhelpful people. Store employees blamed the delivery service and the delivery service blamed the store employees. Calling their corporate and getting an escalated "urgent ticket" with a promised call back was a joke. They never called me either despite their promises (lies). On 06/18 my refrigerator was on the truck and I was excited/relieved. Well, the delivery people get here and the first thing they do it take the door off without asking me (including the hinges!!) my house and then remove the old one for haul away service. THEN, they unloaded the new one and realized it was damaged. Two different places had big dents, one right near the compressor. I refused delivery and then they had to load it back on the truck as well as bring my old one back in and put my door back on. Now I can't lock my door because they put it on wrong and actually warped the wood frame of the door by power driving long screwing so far in that we will need to have them drilled out. It did not help that the delivery drivers barely spoke English and I don't think they understood a word I was saying. Then I get an email telling me my item was "delivered" and realized that I was billed over $100 more than the invoice cost. Billed for over $2000.... for this refrigerator that I didn't actually get due to no fault of my own. Even worse, I was not given any paperwork from the delivery people to confirm that I did not accept it. I then spent several hours between the store, corporate, and the delivery people trying to straighten this out - most of this time was on hold with the horrible ear mangling music. Finally I am told that the charge should be removed within 48 and to call if not.,.. as if calling them is helpful at all! I have already filed a chargeback with my credit card and will be filing consumer frauid complaints as well if these jokers try to leave a $2000_ charge on my card for merchandise that I did not receive/accept due to the damage. I am just physically and mentally exhausted dealing with Lowes. There was never any real customer service or attempts to help fix the numerous issues. I did have a couple a rare agents that once I was finally able to speak to them were somewhat helpful, but they were small bright spots in an otherwise horrendous experience. In fact, I am not exaggerating when I state that this was without a doubt the single WORST experience that I have ever had with any retail company in my 50+ year existence. Also as a side note, I ordered my old refrigerator from Lowe's 5 years ago and even though I find it very bad that a 5 year old refrigerator 2 months out of warranty needed to be replaced, at least that one got delivered smoothly and was not damaged. Lowe's is not the same quality company and have literally gone down the toilet. I will never order anything from them again, ever. read more

Seems every time I go here lately, I leave I unsatisfied and wondering why I wasted my time. On several different visits now when I ask a store employee a question, "I don't know" is the answer. Sometimes these are simple questions of where products are located in the store. I find products advertised online or in the paper ad, then come in only to be told, "oh that was last week and we must be out." Then I tell them I saw the ad an hour before coming in and it's good for another couple days, and they change their story to this store's just isn't participating. What's going on here, Lowe's? Shopping here used to be a much more pleasant experience. Sure the products are good and your store is nice and clean. So ya get a few stars for having a decent store, you lost a few because of your staff. read more

Note: address being shown in Yelp database is incorrect. This is in Mohawk Commons, just down the road to the south from the intersection of Consaul and Balltown, which is where Yelp places it. So it's a huge spiffy Lowe's with a very good stock and at least one guy I talked to on my first visit who knew his left hand from his right. I regret to report that in the dozen or so visits since my first, the staff have proved consistently dull-witted with virtually every request for assistance. It's a frustrating combination of lack of knowledge of their own stock with lack of knowledge about how Stuff Works. Getting a right-sized tape measure, getting something custom-cut, finding a particular set of shelf supports, inquiring about a bathroom fixture -- all of these have worked out in the end, but not without having to consult two or three staffers and taking wrong turns down aisles. Today's was a real hoot. Some weeks ago, we purchased a torchiere lamp that was on sale. A couple of days ago the kids knocked it over and destroyed the glass shade. Today I went back and found they had one and only one style of glass replacement shade. It did not look the right size, and while I'd remembered my measuring tape, the measurement seemed like it was going to be 1/8" too small. I showed the lighting staffer the lamp in question and the replacement shade. Will this fit? Oh yes, he said, all shades are standard size. You're sure? This replacement shade will fit this lamp? I'm positive. You can guess the end of this story. I get the thing home and the replacement doesn't fit. I take it back to the store and get a little "are you sure it doesn't fit?" rap. Sheesh. There are neighborhood hardware stores around with some guys who have reasonable hardware knowledge but they have thin stock and it's pricy. I wish there was a middle ground chain around here, like Orchard Supply Hardware in California, which is big enough to have stock but small enough to have staff who have straight neuron pathways. I'm giving the store a thin three for now. I know I'll be back because of the ginormous number of things that are there for sale but I may try to borrow somebody's Dad to come along and explain to me how things fit together or what I need for a project. read more

After being a loyal Lowes customer for years now (including my entire family), I can confidently say that I will never be spending my money there again. A couple months ago they tried implemented a new policy for military discount in which you have to sign up for their loyalty card and give them a lot of personal information that THEY DON'T NEED. The entire point of a military ID is so that you DON'T NEED TO GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION. Why do they need a copy of my DD214? (which is ILLEGAL to ask for) Why do they need date of discharge? Why do they need proof of service? Having a military ID is proof of all of these things!!! Anyway, after that was in effect I refused to give such information because it's unnecessary and honestly a slap in the face to Veterans across the country. At first, they allowed me to do this and they would just type it in and that was that. Well, I guess according to their "new policy", as of January 5th if you want a military discount then you have to fork over all of that personal information because they "can't manually override the discount". I went to this Lowes last night to get a custom door, a bunch of drywall and other tools. When I got to the register and she informed me that I needed a loyalty card to get the discount I said no and asked for a manager. She told me someone would talk with me at the service desk. Went down there only to talk to two other girls with awful customer service and has the most sour look on their faces the entire time. I told them my issue and they were rude and told me that I needed the card so I asked to speak with a manager AGAIN. At this time, the manager came over AND TRIED TO SIGN ME UP FOR THE CARD. Obviously no one had told him my extreme unwillingness to do so. Once I told him I wasn't comfortable giving a home improvement store that sensitive information he immediately rolled his eyes, shoved a piece of paper in my face and told me they can't manually override the discount anymore. He ended with "sorry, nothing I can do for you.". A pathetic excuse for staff, management AND service. I will now be taking all of my (and my family's) business to Home Depot where they understand that a military ID is all the information they need. read more

Veterans experience with Lowe's new must register for military discount program. So after completing the over an hour process at customer service to register I was ensured it would be worth it overall and "we can track all your purchases this way!" (Which I don't think the staff realizes this is a terrible thing to tell a combat vet, or anyone really), everything went smooth ; provide a phone number at check out and good to go. I used the new system a few days later again and no issues.... then tonight I go and purchase some items and when I attempt to use the new mandatory system I'm told we can't offer you a discount due to incomplete registration (which is complete) so I offer my ID and they tell me they can't use it anymore- whole process took over 30 minutes and I ended up paying full price (which I realize as a combat service connected vet discounts are a privilege) staff was left with no answers or solutions. So to summarize IF your going to force our nations disabled combat veterans to register and be tracked to receive a discount when NO other competitor is doing asking the same ;please make sure your new "better" system is working and not steering customers right into said company's orange building. Until this is fixed I'm taking my money elsewhere and I would recommend other veterans to do the same. Thanks guys exactly how I planned to spend my Sunday night ... watching employees try to figure out a system they don't understand for over half an hour just to wind up where we started. Went in for TL Fuse. I rent an old apartment, and didn't know the difference between plastic and metal. Also wasn't sure if the fuse had to match word for word of what my old fuse matched. I went to a register, and asked them to page a person I could ask about fuses. They never came. Went to return the items I was thinking of buying to the shelf. A nice enough guy came over and asked if he could help but he didn't know anything about Eletrical... WTF? I asked him my question knowing he'd state the obvious. I said thank you and put the items back and continued to leave. Another guy stopped me, asked if he could help. I thought why the F not. I mumbled that I felt like I was in one of those Comercials that hit the nail about big box stores. Shouldn't have done that. He gets a call on what I guess was his work phone. I waited 2 minutes while he said "Yup" "Ok" "Want me to change that?". I got the point and left. Went to Tru Value down the road, got my question answered, and got more fuses for less than what Lowes was charging. read more

I know nothing about snow throwers, but I was determined to buy one as a gift. Mike, in the snow thrower section was a blessing. He explained everything I needed to know about the interior mechanisms, size, weight, everything. He asked me questions about use that I hadn't even considered! After we talked, I walked away. No hard pitch or commitment. He gave me the Lowes card with his name on it. Tracey in customer service made it all happen and within minutes I bought a snow thrower to be picked up in Massachusetts ! She had the Massachusetts store fax the receipt to my store and I was golden! My Dad loved it and it was perfect for his needs! Awfully. My money had to be refund since they did not deliver my range as agreed upon. I was told my range would be delivered in 2 weeks. Biggest lie Mike could tell. It was ordered 4/26 with a promised delivery of 5/5. I called and I was told it could take up to 7/5. I waited a week later and called this morning. They have no clue as to where this range is. I was first told it was resold to someone else. Then I was offered the same old BS that I would hear from the installer. Nope don't want to hear that BS for the third time. I had to approach them in the same manner that they deal with me. This is a legal contract and you can't fulfill your end. Please refund my money. In which they did. Service protection plan you must call for a refund. I told them to do it.oh boy did they get the run around. They are calling the 4th number trying to cancel. They are referred to another number each time. They will give you the wrong # because they did not know the correct #. I will sit as long as it takes. I have been hear 2 hrs and counting. The guys where running around looking for the range. I believe what I was first told it was sold to someone else. I came into the store because I did not get a call back for Mike ever and the manager did not bother to call back. All my Sistars and Brother be very careful when ordering appliances with Lowe's. read more

I purchased top of the line carpet for my family room. Lowes sub-contracted Olympic Flooring to install. 2 1/2 years later carpet is bunching and pulling away from wall. Neither Lowes or Olympic offered to fix the problem. Lowes has really gone down hill over the years. Horrible customer service, the manager rarely returns calls, he doesn't have voicemail so you have to rely on operator to give him a hand written message. If you want to pay premium price for mediocre work this is the place to hire! I don't have room to include everything that happened but this gives you the basics. This has been a 3 month ordeal. Being 7 months pregnant, we hired Lowes to install vinyl fencing for our 3 dogs at our newly purchased home rather than install it ourselves. We got other estimates and although Lowes was the highest - we went with them because they estimated an install date of 3 weeks out whereas everyone else was 5+ weeks out. Weeks went by with no contact after we paid so I called to find out the status, apparently the materials had been in for some time but no one called us. I called to find out when we could expect the install and the installer called back with a day 7 WEEKS OUT. I called our rep to ask if there was anything we could do about this and stated he had another installer and he would call me to schedule. The installer shows up weeks later and immediately starts complaining about Lowes - how they didn't have the right materials and Lowes sucks and yada yada. I don't appreciate this type of bad mouthing but little did I know I would be agreeing with him in the weeks to come. Nevertheless, he was correct that they did provide the wrong gates but Lowes rectified that quickly. Turns out, this installer was an absolute JOKE - after their second day they only installed 2 panels - incorrectly at that. The sections were zig zagged without cement and even telling them numerous times that they need to be close to the ground they were 6+ inches high and just filled in with dirt to make it look like they were on the ground. (rep assured me they could go right on the ground) Lowes came out to check it out and agreed it was shotty work and to have another installer come out. Unfortunately, the first installer messed up the materials so of course they had to re-order them taking another week or so to get in. Now introduce installer #2 - he seemed great at first. The installer came by a week or so later and started the install. On day 2 I went outside to see how things were going and they were gone, I walked around to check it out post on the side of the house was beyond slanted, 1+ feet off, the gate had the incorrect hardware on it and the chain link was on our NEIGHBORS property - another thing I had specified over and over that couldn't happen. Also, a lot of garbage was left all over our property. Months....we had been dealing with this for months and now it's done.......but incorrectly - I was so annoyed I couldn't even call them about it that day. Lowes called to find out how it went and I told them about the issues. I said that at this point, I just wanted to fix it ourselves but if we did it would void the warranty. I figured it best not to do that so they advised they would have the installer back out. Again, no word from the installer for days and then suddenly, on a Saturday, the installer just shows up at the house with no warning. I cannot explain how angry this made me. You don't just show up at peoples homes. He says 'I heard you had some issues with my install.' Awkward. I explained the issue and walked him over to the side of the house where he proceeded to tell me it 'wasn't the end of the world' that the post was crooked. No, it's not the end of the world but it's lazy work that we paid good money to have done correctly. I then took him over to the chain link section but at this point I just didn't want to deal with him and asked that he contact my husband. Luckily, we have great neighbors who didn't care about the fence so we didn't have Lowes move it. Honestly, I am so over this whole thing that I just don't want them on our property and would rather deal with the issues it may bring later on than deal with them any longer at this point. The finger pointing was ridiculous as well - the installer blaming Lowes, Lowes blaming the installer......it was maddening. Sorry Lowes, you hired these installers so they represent your company. Period! It suddenly became 'you wanted it installed faster so that caused issues.' Excuse me? Never ONCE did anyone tell me we would be sacrificing quality for timeline and YOU lied about the install time to begin with. I don't know about you, but to me $3,500 is a lot to spend on a fence - especially a fence installed incorrectly. Steve at Lowes really did his best to help us out. After negotiating, they did get us about a 15% refund but that does not make up for the aggravation. I would 100% hire a different company and wait months if need be. Every time I look at the fence I get annoyed, hopefully that fades with time. The funny part.....it's still not right. The section on the side of the house is less crooked but it's still not straight. And they can't take off the cheap plastic hardware they installed incorrectly because it would leave holes in the post and gate and I am NOT going to do this all over again. Moral of the story? DON'T HIRE LOWES!!!!!!! read more
