Ultimately we've got three trees from Bob's, and even though two of the trees had issues, the staff have been understanding and reasonable in working with us for a resolution. Bob's has a big stock and variety of trees and plants of various sizes, and the tranquil location makes for a pleasant day trip for a walk amongst potted plants and dug-up trees ready to go. Their brochure is helpful for looking up and browsing an updated selection of available trees for listed prices, and staff have been consistently friendly and helpful, and not surprisingly, very knowledgeable. I would recommend Bob's Trees without hesitation, and I hope they stay open and successful for a very long time.

Besides the plants in their greenhouse, they also offer some seeds, produce, eggs and fresh farm-raised meat (might want to check in advance to see when the latter are available). They're open daily from April through Halloween and on weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Besides some of the common varieties of annuals and perennials, they also offer a number of less common flowers that you might not see in the garden center of the big box or larger greenhouses. I recall I also saw petunias and pansies of less common colors. They had hanging baskets galore, mostly flowers but also some strawberry plants already producing fruit. The owners are great. They're glad to chat with you about anything: the plants that interest you, their plans for the farm, animal pests, local color, etc. My mom mentioned that last December, they brought flowers to her senior center, and she raved about them.

We had not been there in a few years and did not remember that credit cards are not accepted. We realized this as we we at the register. The owner gave us our plants and told us to come back at our convenience with the money. Very trusting and nice. We returned with payment within two hours. When we were on our way there we were not sure if they were still in business because advertising signs in the area where no longer there. Turns out the signs were stolen. It is a shame that people would take them because that comes at a cost to hard working small businesses.

But the main reason we now consider this to be our new 'go to' is the exceptional customer service that was provided to us; McKenzie and Evelyn are great, both very friendly and helpful. Beyond Your Garden isn't the closest nursery to us; there are at least five others that are a shorter drive. But when you stop at a business to check it out, find everything you're looking for, and walk away feeling like you've known the staff for years, it's definitely one worth returning to again and again. I searched the internet and found excellent reviews for B&B equipment on route 30. I visored the dealership on a Wednesday greeted by Co- Owner Kelly. I was waited on immediately and explained my options in Cub Cadet lawn tractors. With that, Co- owner Tom entered the showroom from the service area to introduce himself and assist Kelly with the sales process. Within 15 minutes , I was able to make an informed decision and purchase. I did order an out of stock attachment that needed to be installed as I had no tools at my new residence. Kelly ordered the part and Tom immediately offered to install the attachment free of charge and deliver the tractor to me as soon as the part arrived. I received a call from Kelly the following Monday at 9:00am and was told that my attachment had arrived and Tom had already installed it! Tom personally delivered my tractor within the hour as promised. Tom went over all of the tractors features and test drove the unit on my property to ensure everything was operating properly. This dealer has been in business since 1980 and family owned. I received the best sales experience possible at B&B, I was also reassured by the owners that would stand behind this sale and any future service requirements 100%. There is no doubt in my mind that they will... Thank you Tom and Kelly, I will be back in the showroom soon for my future power equipment needs.

However, today was first time I used their Curbside Pickup option. I placed an order online and paid for it. Next day I drove up, and called store to let them know I wanted curbside pick up. I was told to drive around back. A staff member was out in two minutes with my order. I was asked where I wanted him to put the order. I signed a paper acknowledging I received items. Then I was given my receipt and thanked for my business. Start to finish once I arrived at store was less than 6 minutes. Efficient process. I drove off to continue running errands.

And that's just the stuff I've bought over the past few months. They've got tons more stuff, most of which I don't even know what it is because I'm an unhandy city boy. Perhaps this is a small-town thing, but the staff here seems like they know...everything. They've got valuable advice if you want it, and I'm betting they can either come out and fix stuff, or know who you can hire to do so if you can't do it yourself. Some of the items can be a little pricey compared to a big box store or the internet, but you're also paying for expertise and convenience, and shopping local is always a good thing. Allen and Palmer has a variety of employees that are experts on in home problems and answering questions. They also have several guys on staff that are Master level plumbers. James Decker works on the plumbing crew there and seems to know his way around anything mechanical, plumbing, heating, etc.... There is undoubtedly a bit of mark up on items purchased here. This is because they have to ship things so far. And indeed it would cost you more than the difference to drive to somewhere more urban to purchase the same items. I would highly recommend this location for almost anything you might need in the Northville - Sacandaga Lake area.
