Ginger Valley - Rhodo bush before removal in June 2026

The selection depends on what you're looking for. There are many garden plants, some house plants, and usually very few succulents/cactus. The employees and gardeners are all friendly and are quick to greet and offer help to customers.

We needed help planning a garden in front of our home, so we chose Ginger Valley based on its…read morereputation and our belief that their staff would know the best design and plant selections for our property. Ginger Valley designed the garden, selected the plants, and completed the installation. The original planting was completed in July 2024 and cost approximately $3,500 for a landscape containing 45 plants. Unfortunately, it has proven to be one of the worst investments we have made. The garden looked beautiful when first planted, but within a month several plants began to struggle. We contacted Ginger Valley, and their representative agreed that some of the plants were unlikely to survive. Their warranty provided a one-time replacement of failed plants, so we agreed to wait until the following spring to determine which plants would survive before replanting. In the spring of 2025, the garden was redesigned, different plants were selected, and 36 of the original 45 plants were replaced. Once again, the garden initially looked attractive, but within two months many of the replacement plants were struggling as well. Throughout the process, we were given various explanations, including that the area was too shady, too sunny, receiving too much water, or not enough water. Our concern is simple: Ginger Valley visited our property, evaluated the site conditions, designed the landscape, and selected the plants. We expected them to choose plants appropriate for the environment they observed. In addition, we monitored soil moisture daily using a moisture meter to avoid overwatering or underwatering. As of the summer of 2026, only a small number of the original and replacement plants have survived. The final disappointment involved a Nova Zembla Rhododendron that cost $149 and was planted in July 2024. During the summer of 2025, many of the leaves died and the entire plant was dead in the spring of this year. When we dug it up in June 2026, we found that the root ball remained completely intact. After nearly two years in the ground, the roots had still not spread into the surrounding soil, despite the fact that administered root stimulator as prescribed. We understand that some plant losses are inevitable. However, when a landscape is professionally designed, the plants are professionally selected, and the majority of those plants fail despite a redesign and replacement effort, it raises serious concerns about the original design, plant selection, and installation practices. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Ginger Valley for landscape design and installation services.

I do a fair amount of home improvement work, so I'm constantly buying electrical supplies, hardware, tools, and building materials. I've compared prices between Home Depot and Menards numerous times, and the difference can be surprisingly substantial. It's not just one or two products, either. Everything from electrical boxes and fittings to basic hardware and building supplies seems to cost more at Home Depot. On my most recent visit, I was picking up some electrical materials and noticed that several items were noticeably more expensive than what I normally pay at Menards. I ended up putting some things back because I simply couldn't justify paying the difference. What makes it especially frustrating is that I don't see what I'm getting in exchange for the higher prices. The selection isn't necessarily better, the shopping experience isn't noticeably more convenient, and the customer service certainly doesn't justify paying a premium. Menards also frequently offers its 11% rebate promotion, which makes the price difference even harder to ignore. When you're buying materials regularly, those savings really add up. I understand that Home Depot carries certain brands and specialty products that Menards doesn't, and there are occasionally reasons to shop here. But for everyday construction materials and electrical supplies, I find the value proposition extremely disappointing. At the end of the day, I'm not interested in paying more for essentially the same products. Unless Home Depot has something I absolutely can't find elsewhere, I'll be taking my business to Menards. One star for consistently disappointing prices.

Compared with Home Depot and Lowe's, I consistently find that Menards offers very competitive prices on the materials I need, often with substantial savings. I purchase a lot of electrical supplies, including wire, conduit, breakers, boxes, fittings, and other installation materials. When you're buying these products regularly, even small price differences add up quickly. Menards has become my go-to store because I can generally get what I need without feeling like I'm overpaying. The selection is another major advantage. Beyond electrical supplies, they carry an enormous variety of building materials, hardware, tools, plumbing supplies, and household products. It's incredibly convenient being able to pick up materials for several different projects in one trip. I also appreciate the 11% rebate promotions. Yes, the rebate comes in the form of store credit rather than cash, and you have to submit it, but if you're a regular Menards customer, the savings can be significant. It's a nice additional benefit on top of prices that are often competitive to begin with. The store is generally well organized, and I appreciate that many everyday materials are available in multiple sizes and quantities. Whether I need a single fitting or enough supplies for a larger project, there's usually a practical option available. Menards isn't perfect. Occasionally, finding a particular item can take a little searching, and the checkout process isn't always the fastest. But those are minor inconveniences compared with the overall savings and selection. What ultimately earns Menards five stars is that they seem to understand what customers actually want: a good selection of useful products at reasonable prices. I'd much rather save money on materials than pay extra for a fancier shopping experience. For contractors, homeowners, and anyone tackling home improvement projects, Menards is an excellent resource. Great prices, an impressive selection, and outstanding overall value. Five stars!
