DO NOT TRUST THIS LOCATION FOR BUSINESS!…read more As a retired Army officer that served 21-years of service, integrity is a must in every interaction I have with people. I want to add context for when people read this. After being on Yelp since 2010, I've used this site to spread positive reviews to everyday people that are there to help their fellow man. Unfortunately, this is the first poor review I have written on this site after 13 years. When they say a man's handshake is no longer good in business in this world, it's because of businesses such as Jono Ace Hardware conducting illicit practices such as not honoring contracts. Jono Ace Hardware charges a damage waiver for all their equipment of $25.50. After renting a piece of equipment from Jono Ace hardware, a handle was damaged when a tree limb fell a struck the handle when operating near a wood line. Skid loaders are used in a normal capacity to move payloads in off-road situations. This is considered normal wear and tear on the piece of equipment used in this capacity. Even though the customer pays for the waiver, accidents cannot happen in Jono Ace Hardware's eyes and do not honor the contract agreed upon. When you bring attention to the contract, they repeat,"It's not that much money." My biggest problem is people who do not read their contract and just accepts whatever Jono Ace Hardware tells them. Save yourself some frustration and go to another local rental company. People in Central Pennsylvania want to trust companies to have the integrity to do the right thing. When Jono Ace Hardware charges every customer a $25.50 waiver fee and then nickel and dimes the customer to put profits ahead of its people, that's not the type of business that can be trusted. How many other customers paid for this damage waiver with Jono Ace Hardware knowing with the assumption Jono Ace Hardware is going to honor their own contract? It's basically "nickel and diming" every customer that rents from them to line the owners pockets. This is not just one employees misinterpretation of the contract either. The owner of Jono Ace Hardware and the lead rental manager are conducting business are complicit in conducting business in this manner. I'll be contacting Ace Hardware Corporate and the Better Business Bureau for Jono Ace Hardware using predatory tactics to take advantage of unsuspecting customers that do not read their contracts. It's really sad when we live in an area where their are so many good families and people, yet we still have to deal with companies such as Jono Ace Hardware. DO NOT TRUST THIS LOCATION FOR BUSINESS! Its the first time I ever used their service dept , and you couldn't pay me to go back!! I gave them 2 mowers to get regular services done, oil change , blade sharpened etc... the usual stuff that needs to be done going into the mowing season. got the first mower back, bill was $109 (not bad) . First time we used it it didn't seem to run right , and the self propelled system didn't work. no problem , took it back in. In the mean time my wife went to pick up the second mower and was hit with a bill for $296 dollars, three dollars less THAN WHAT I PAID FOR IT NEW!!!!! So we went to use the second one the next week, the cover shield wasn't screwed back on, and it spit oil all over the frame!!! Took that one back in!! after them having them for several weeks I called to see the progress, that's when I talked to Nevin. he said that the second one didn't have the engine connected to the frame!!! it was gonna be another $250 dollars to get it running!!! after I explained that I wasn't paying another 250! I told him I used it one time!!! he began questioning basically accusing me of lying....his comment was"so you are telling me you cut grass one time in the last month, I find that hard to believe!!" I explained to him the mowers were for rental properties and that I was paying a service to cut the grass!!! he said at that point that he would get back to me. after several days of not hearing from him I called there, he proceeded to tell me that he had parts ordered, and although he 'DIDN"T think it was the right thing to do, he wouldn't charge me!!' WHAT!!! after two days of him having the mower he called me back saying that we "had a problem!!" The mowers engine was shot, and they don't make parts for the one that the self propelled wasn't working! couldn't repair it!! I asked what he suggested and he said he would give me a discount on a new mower!! I asked him if I could get the $405 dollars I paid him for the mowers I used ONCE each after he had them, his response was "I cant afford to do that!!! the I asked why he expected me to be out $405 dollars for two mowers I paid him to FIX, and now are non functional?? After getting my one mower back that that the self propel system wasn t working I called another repair service and they assured me that ,YES they do make parts to fix that system!!! Wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!! Buyer beware!!
