They had a decent sale going on. Prices are reasonable.I love that they are pet-friendly so I brought my fur baby along so he could get a little bit of walking in without being in the cold outside. Spent over $500 on a power washer. After using it twice the washer would not stay running. I attempted to return and was told there is a 48 hour return policy in unopened packaging. If a company is going to have this strict of a policy, basically non-returnable they should tell the customer before buying. I wouldn't have bought it. Apparently on the receipt it says "A written copy of the return policy is available at our customer service desk", nothing on the receipt about the policy. Shady business practice! Major fail, Lowes Kirkwood store! I purchased one item online for curbside pickup. I followed through and created an account and downloaded the app (which was supposed to make my pickup easier, yeah, right!) My account and the app did not display my order. I called the store to make sure my order wasn't lost. They assured me that it was being processed and I would be notified when it was ready for pickup. Did not seem concerned that my account has no record of the order. I did get notified when my order was ready but the check in link to let them know I was there so they could bring it out errored off. So I called the store and the phone rang for 7 minutes. I tried the corporate 800 number and got a message that there was a 15 minute wait! So I went into the store and followed the signs to order pickup. Not a person was in sight. I saw my item on the shelf with my name on it. So I grabbed it and left. I guess anybody could have. So at least I got the item that I paid for online. When I lived in STL, this was my go to Lowe's. Ah, hell, it was my go to hardware and nursery store, period. Being immediately off of 44 on Lindbergh, made it easy access. Until I was prepping my house for sale, did I realize I haven't updated my review for 6 years. Bad me, bad Elite Yelper. Not how perfect you think your home is, when it is time to sell, there are various things that always need to be tweaked and repaired. Having this Lowe's close to home and always well stocked came in handy. I admit, I am not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to being a handyman. My "handyman" would send me to the hardware store for various parts and supplies and I always came here, because the associates would always help me find what I needed. Back tracking to my opening paragraph, I also came here for a lot of my nursery/gardening needs when I was doing landscaping at my STL home. I've always liked Lowe's but I've had multiple bad interactions here. This summer my wife and I purchased a prebuilt grill. When we got home we realized it was missing several of the grates. Ugh back to the store. After returning home a second time we realized it didn't have the drip pan. The whole point of getting the prebuilt grill was to save time. Fine, maybe this was a one time error at the store. In mid December the Christmas lights at Lowe's went on sale. I ordered several white lights and then four multi-colored GE LED lights. A week after my initial order I got a call saying that the white lights were out of stock and they couldn't track them down. The person from the Kirkwood store assured me the multicolored lights were delayed but would arrive. That didn't happen. They just cancelled my entire order. When I contacted Lowe's customer support they indicated that the lights ran out in the store so they couldn't fill my order. Why take a week to initially call me and let me know there was an issue? Why let me order them at all? I could have just gone to another store and picked them up in person if they hadn't screwed around. Why did the Kirkwood customer service person lie and say the multicolored strands were still coming in? Between the missing parts in the grill and the terrible service over the Christmas lights I will never shop at Lowe's again. I can just as easily go to Home Depot or Ace. I have a second home 1.5 hours west of St. Louis. About 2 months ago my refrigerator died and I have been dragging my feet replacing it. The spot is 31 inches wide which means the only thing that works is a basic 18 or 20 cubic foot with the freezer on the top. A side by side is too large. Each store has about 2 different models of these and I wanted stainless steel to match my existing appliances. Since no one is delivering to me out in the middle of nowhere I knew I had to get it picked up and brought out there myself. I visited this Lowe's on 2/12 at about 5:20pm. I narrowed it down to two models that would work for me and tried to find some help. After about five minutes, which seemed like forever, an employee was walking through the aisle near appliances so I asked him for help. He explained he didn't work in appliances but took me to the other side of the department where we met the appliance gentleman walking towards us. He explained he was unable to help me at the moment. I was super agitated at this point and said "I'll leave then. Thanks so much for your help." Every time I walk into a Lowe's something like this happens. Had the availability worked out I would have been an easy sale because I wanted to check this one off my list. No such luck at any Lowe's ever! I have my own retail store and if I missed out on this big of a sale because there was no one to wait on a customer I would be sick. Truth is no one here cares though. I purposely looked at ones "in stock" for quicker than 7-10 day delivery. I showed the sales gal what I wanted and she wrote it up. When asked about delivery, I said mine died and needed it ASAP. How about tomorrow (Wednesday) I asked? She said not available, so I asked for Thursday and it was booked, with no time frame but driver will call me. By 3 on Thursday, no one called. I called back and they said I was on the list for the following Thursday. HOW RIDICULOUS for an in stock refrigerator. I couldn't get back there fast enough to cancel my order and credit my charge card. PRETTY POOR AND NO MORE. read more

You can't go wrong when you come to Lowe's for your home improvement needs. They have competitive prices for your big home expense items such as an appliance piece. They also have paints, tools, area rugs, a good selection of carpeting for your home, cabinets, cabinet liners, light bulbs, light fixtures, and many more! During the most recent trips to this particular Lowe's location, we have made a purchase of a washer and dryer set and the associate who helped us was great. They do deliver for free and install the appliance(s) for you. It took around 1.5 weeks from purchase for delivery to take place. Probably because it was close to Thanksgiving and they have some great prices on several different appliances which meant more people making purchases. The actual transaction went smoothly. He made sure we purchased everything needed for the installation and had the paperwork ready for checkout. He was also very chatty and friendly. Other things were purchased after walking around the store for a little bit (including some cabinet liners and some basic white paint) and everything went well. The delivery and install took place and the appliances work wonderfully. The delivery guys did the install in about half an hour or so. The next visit, I wanted to get a 5x8 area rug for the dining room. I had 2 in mind during the prior visit, however, neither of them were in-stock at the store the day of my visit and the associate was less than helpful. He actually seemed annoyed that I came over to ask for some help. He walked to where the rugs were, checked for the size I need in the sections where the 2 different styles were located and almost hesitantly looked up the item number to see which location has it available. He told me Maplewood does and that was that. He did not even wait until I can ask him about my second choice. The difference between both visits were like night and day. I will still shop here, of course but some people could really use a lesson in being friendly especially if you work in a customer service type of job. Positives: Good Selection of Fans, Lighting, Electric Supplies, a and Clean Store. Negatives: my last experience here was picking up an order for one item that I placed online. I came to pick up the order approximately 60 minutes after placing the order. First, there was no one working the online pick up area but they did have a button to press to alert the store that you were there. I pressed it and waited just a couple minutes before a store associate came up to greet me. This wait what is understandable and at this point I was not upset. However when the associate told me that I was in the wrong line I needed to go over to customer service to pick up online orders I was a bit turned off by the messaging. I followed the store signage. If the line moves based upon staffing just put a sign there to redirect. Again at this point its probably not even worth my time to comment. So next I get in line at customer service. Maybe it had been a long day but it didn't seem like anyone was excited about costumer service. Once I explained what was going on Dee walked me over to the online pick up area. Confusing? She then looked at the computer for my order. I felt at this point it was odd they didn't ask any information from me. It looked like she just scrolled through all the orders. Finally, she asked my phone number to find me order. I gave it to her. Then, she told me that my orders not ready yet. At this point I am starting to get disappointed. The real fail though is they had me go pick the order. Dee wrote down the aisle number and told me to go get it. I asked her if she was sure I should go get it and she said yes. What? Ok, now I really feel let down on the service. Recommendation: don't do online orders at this location. It's not a strength or understood what this service is about from the Lowe's team. read more

DO NOT USE LOWES FOR ANY EXTERIOR INSTALLATION. I know some of you are thinking that goes without saying.... but, I guess I was naive. Story goes like this. Get quote to replace my front deck and stairs. Have to commit to the contract and get their financing. This started in May 2023. Ive been making payments on this since then. Fast forward to Dec 2023. After getting much runaround and making several payments on a loan for no services the finally schedule the install. But wait! It was not to be. Got a call the they have to reschedule for an unspecified date. At this point I had enough so I requested cancellation of the job and a full refund and cancellation of the dept. Not comes more runaround. It seams that the issue of getting back the money I have paid for no services rendered in flux. Never again will I make a purchase from Lowes. After bad experiences with the delivery and installation or our washer, dryer, and flooring we really should have known better than to trust Lowes when we needed a new dishwasher. Our problems started when ordering. We were promised free installation (via rebate) but once we had paid we were informed that only stainless appliances qualified, not the white one that we had purchased. They were willing to discount the price of the dishwasher, but not in an equivelant amount. We let it go because we wanted this specific dishwasher and needed it quickly. We were told that the dishwasher would arrive within 9 days, but it never showed up. We called on day 11 and were told that it would arrive on day 13. Still no call came so we checked back on day 15, only to be told that our order had been pushed back an additional 9 days. All of this occurred without any communication from Lowes. This is unacceptable, and we are canceling our order. This repeated lack of customer service has lost Lowes a life-long customer. read more

I needed extra keys made so I called ahead to Lowe's to confirm they could make them, and where in the store to go. Was told to go to the kiosk by customer service, it's an automatic machine. I got them made, went home, and they work very poorly for the top lock, and not at all for the bottom lock of a front door. When I called back, the customer service person was very sorry and sympathetic; but then I learned she's not a fan of the machine, I could have gotten them made cheaper by having a person there make them... and I can't get my money back from Lowe's, I have to call the number on the kiosk! So wasted time, wasted money, and I have to find a place quickly to get a simple front door key made before I have to go away. Shopped at Lowes for over 20 years as a Carpenter/Contractor, spending thousands in the process. I purchased carpeting and had it installed in my basement in August 2016. The stairs and game room carpet are fine is fine but the plush in the family room is buckling and needs to be restretched. I called Lowes but they informed me that they only warranty labor for 2 years. I told them that their competitor Home Depot has a lifetime labor warranty. Well, too bad what they do, we won't do anything to address the issue. I placed an online order on Thursday April 9th for 5 brown plastic Adirondack chairs to be picked up at Lowe's in Kirkwood. I went to Lowe's last Saturday April 18th to look at the chairs I ordered. The chairs I ordered weren't the best quality and I even saw one that was cracked, so I decided I was going to cancel my order. I did find some better quality Adirondack chairs that were $10 more per chair, so I thought about doing an exchange and just paying the difference. I walked up to the counter where they handle returns and the guy at the counter told me he couldn't do an exchange. He told me he would have to cancel my order and I would have to purchase the chairs I want in a separate transaction. Fast forward to this Wednesday April 22. I noticed that my card which had been charged $101.47 for the chairs had not been refunded. I called Lowe's and spoke to a lady at the Pro Desk. I explained to her that I had placed an online order for 5 chairs but decided I no longer wanted them so I had them cancel my order last Saturday. I told her that I still hadn't been refunded and asked her when I can expect the money to be put back into my account. She then proceeded to tell me that your card won't get charged until you pick up your order. Clearly she wasn't listening because I just told her my card had been charged. So I said once again that my card was charged $101.47 and I asked her how many days it takes to be refunded. She told me to wait 2 more days and if I don't see the credit, I should call back. I have absolutely no faith in her or anyone else at Lowe's. This has been a huge inconvenience and could've been avoided. Now I'm forced to make an unnecessary trip to Lowe's to try and find someone who can help me get refunded. I was going to purchase 4 of the Adirondack chairs that you have for $30 which would've been a $130 sale, but after all the headache this has caused, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

Lowes is an awesome shopping experience. I have shopped this Lowe's for 15 years. On March 27 I was surprised to encounter a rude employee as I was trying to use self check out . I was having a bit of difficulty using the machine. I would scan an item correctly , and the system accepted the item pricing . But the automated voice would not allow me to set the item in the bag. I was patient in trying to work it out. All of a sudden, I heard a loud , rude voice yell out to me ""Mame, take the item off the scale""! I looked around to see a curly, matted, short haired female associate, standing at the main check out resgister. . I politely tried to explain the problem I was having. She ignored my explanation and plea for an understanding. Instead of coming over to assist me, she did not move from her position where she was standing. Her expressive was a frowning, unpleasant anger. She repeated the same words but this time she used an even more condensending tone of voice, defining each word slowly, insulting me. ""Mame,--- take-- the-- item-- off --the-- scale !"" This time making her rude voice dramaticly slower and making a point of talking as you would to someone would can't hear. I was embarrassed as she spoke rudely to me in front of other customers standing by, also checking out. She was trying to treat me like a child. I took the item off the scale politely , as she stared me down. She continued her unexcusable rudeness and made enphasis by slowly and rudely pronounciating "thaannk yoouuu" !! She talked as if talking to someone she was having a problem with. Yet I had been polite to her all this time I did not appreciate this employees bad behavior at all. I looked at her name badge. VENITA was her name. This employee behaved inappropriately and needed to be reported. I am a grown , mature woman. Certainly older than this VENITA ! I was not acting rude to her. I will not accept this bad behavior. This little lady needs a lesson in how to treat people, human relations, and good old diplomacy !! Please get the point here. This is NOT about the self check out machine not working right. This is about a rude employee named Venita. The point is about a very rude associate using a rude tone of voice, without reason, to a nice customer. I encourage any customer who does nothing wrong and is treated this way, to report these kind of very rude people. I stopped in Kirkwood Lowe's just before the 2017 holidays looking for a new stove top. The company that was doing the measuring did an excellent job. They called a few days after I visited the store. Then, I never heard from the store. After the holidays, I stopped in the store and asked. No one could help, find the paperwork, etc... Finally, after multiple trips, I found someone who found the paperwork. They said I 'changed my mind because the project was too expensive.' (That never happened. I never heard from anyone.) Months later I stopped in the Ballwin Lowe's to buy a washing machine. That salesperson was excellent. The washing machine is the best I have ever owned. So, feeling positive about Lowe's, I stopped in the Kirkwood store again a few weeks ago. This time I was looking for a wall oven. Same thing...the company that measured came right out. Again, I never heard from Lowe's. I stopped in and found a young associate that 'really wanted' to help me, according to her. She was telling me how sales are down in the store, etc... I told her what I was looking for and knew it would take some time to get specs together. I asked her to call me. Again...nothing. I went into the store on July 3rd. The sales associate walked right passed me. I said, 'You were going to call me about my wall over.' She said, 'Oh, right. I asked someone else to call you. Let me go get your paperwork.' Nothing. After a truly horrendous experience at a competitor (waiting on a washer for 2 weeks), we stopped into Lowe's frustrated and late in the evening. We headed over to the appliances where an agent was helping a customer. We were acknowledged and told someone would be with us shortly. A far cry from the "welcome" we received at Home Depot where we had to hunt down anyone that knew anything about selling an appliance. After just a few minutes another salesperson, Steve, came over. He was extremely pleasant and efficient. Not pushy at all and was super helpful and flexible in finding a way to get us the washer as quickly as possible. They didn't have any in stock but found one at a nearby store and offered to pick it up and have it delivered the next day. Extremely courteous and helpful. We most definitely will be back! read more

Don't get your keys cut here! I've been twice and both times my keys have been cut wrong. When I called to let the customer service person know, he was extremely rude- no apology, no "we can fix this" or anything. I explained that I had to cancel a meeting to come and get the keys before the morning and come all the way back and forth to my place of work because of this mistake and all he said was, "well keys are weird, I don't know what to tell you.." ?!?!?!?! Isn't home and hardware what Lowe's specializes in?! I was appalled by the lack of "customer service" in the customer service area. So I returned the keys completely and went to Walmart, where it was cheaper and they actually worked too. Everyone makes mistakes- but they need to make sure whoever is representing them is showing them in a more positive and professional light. Every time I go there, the store is filthy, unorganized and in disarray. The inside garden area is disgusting. Half of the plants are dead and it appears that no one cares to water them. The plants outside look half dead. There are always empty boxes laying around. I can't believe that a store manager and department managers to look at their store every day and ignore the obvious filth, clutter, and dead plants. Zero service, well, one useless guy after zero service. Went in yesterday after having selected a $550 lawnmower online. Yes, that is an expensive lawn mower. Website showed me the aisle and bin number so that made finding the lawnmower easy. When I got to the box it was labeled "93lbs, team lift". I needed a flat as it would not fit in a cart. I stood in a very visible location at the end of the aisle for about 10 minutes...all employees clearly avoid eye contact, all appearing to be on very important missions. This must be the critical training provided by Lowes' training department. Finally stood in front of one guy so he had to acknowledge that customers exist and he quickly explained that I "might find one in the lawn and garden dept, if not, maybe in the parking lot", then resumed his zombie stare and walked off. No flats in the garden section, more staff staring at their toes. Finally found one in the parking lot, but at that moment I decided Lowe's would not have my business that day, or any other for that matter. No wonder they have trailed HD in sales and financial performance for 10 years now. In a world of commoditized product, service is what matters, Lowe's has no service. read more

Two days ago there were very few customers in the store and I looked around for over 20 minutes in an aisle trying to find a product. I finally had to go to a counter and ask someone to call for assistance. When a clerk finally arrived, she refused to look something up in a computer for me. I needed a specified curtain rod, which was not on the floor and all she did was look up and down the shelves (like I had done for the last 20 minutes) and tell me they don't have it. I told her that they have it in the finish I want it in the double rods and other rods, but not in the size rod I need it in, could she look it up on the computer to be sure? She then tells me that if they don't have it, it wouldn't be on the computer.... I was about to pull out my hair. I then tried again, and explained that if she looked up rods on the computer, then we could be sure that they don't carry it, end of story. And if Lowes does carry it, then it will be listed with the other rods, and then she can look and see if another Lowes in the area has it in stock, or maybe she has it in stock, way, high, above on the shelf, where no one earth can see a thing. She again tells me that the computer only lists what they carry and the shelf doesn't have the rod. I am now silently screaming in my head because the clerk isn't about to move an inch or search for anything that might actually require her to earn her paycheck. So I try one more time and explain that the finish I need on the size of rod that I need is on ALL the other rods in the same brand from the same company, and could she just check and see if maybe, just maybe the rod I need may actually come in the finish I need or not. She mumbles something completely unintelligible, shuffles off slowly, down the aisle, and I assumed, she finally was going to look up the rod on the computer. I waited. And waited. And waited. She never came back!! I actually was in the aisle long enough to just give up and pick out a completely different combination and start all over and the shuffling, mumbling clerk never returned! I go to check out and I was waiting for the check out clerk to ask me the usual "did you find everything you needed today?" so I could let her know of my experience....and SHE says nothing to me. No greeting, no "hello" nothing. She gets a few phone calls, but in between the calls, she doesn't even look up at me. She hands me my receipt and says, "have a good day" without making eye contact. I finally had enough and ask for the manager and was told he was gone for the day. It was between 4:30 and 5PM. I tell her of my experience and she did not care. I asked her what was the name of the person helping in the drapery department, she started to guess names, but would not take a moment to call down there and get me a name and just said, "I am not sure." Unbelievable. Big box stores don't deserve to stay in business. We spend our hard earned money there, and then they expect us to go and hunt down "help", they expect us to just accept this "help" as acceptable, and then actually expect us to check ourselves out at the self-check out and then haul our stuff out to the car ourselves in the heat....while we are at it, why don't we customers just stand at the loading dock and unload their crap, unpack it and shove it on the shelves for them too? Chance are, it would be stocked properly, marked correctly, and easier to find. read more
