Not the best customer credit service. On July 27th, I went into the store to look at a specific area rug I was interested in and online it indicated it was in that store location. The rug was not there. Fortunately, or not, I found another rug to buy and while checking out, the employee offered that I woud get 20% discount if I opened a new card. I agreed but then after he processed my application, he said I was declined. Which was a huge surprise. There was no reason for me to be declined. Anyway, I paid for my item with another card and left. Ten days later, I received a letter from Lowe's that I was approved for the card! Then a few days later, the new card came in the mail! It concerned me that this occurred so today, I called customer service and after 45 minutes and 4th person speaking to, for one, they had no idea why I was told the application was denied, secondly that I could still get my discount with my first purchase even if I ordered online. I was still interested in the original area rug I went into to the store to look at so I decided to purchase it too. While trying to place my order, there was no promo code or any indication of me getting that 20% discount so I called again. I asked how do I do this? After being transferred over and over again, the forth person I spoke with finally told me the only way I could get my 20% discount on my first purchase was to go into the store. I guess I could go into the store and have them order it for me (online), how ironic, but isn't that the whole point of the convenience of online shopping! Not a very happy customer. The reps need better training and knowledge of the store policies. I went ahead and placed my order online but didn't get the discount. *Buyer Beware* We bought a Carole Town house 3 days ago, and it came completely shattered at the bottom. NEVER did the cashier say it was All Sales Final when it was bought or we would have checked each Christmas Village House that we purchased. However, when we went to this store (12/19/2024 at 8:20PM) to look at getting a refund, exchange or store credit, we were met by the Assistant Manager, who immediately said he was not taking any holiday returns. He stated he's over the building department and that all retailers (specifically stated Wal-Mart & Home Depot) do not take back Christmas decorations back nor does Lowes stand behind their products. He bragged on how he is #1 in the area for his customer service, yet provided no solution. I called another Lowes as soon as I left, I explained the situation and they said that they will take care of it. They apologized for his egregious behavior and that it was not the Lowes way. I did not catch his name, yet this is the second time in less than a week that the level of customer service from the assistant managers at two Lowes Locations have been atrocious. This is the closet Lowe's to my house and our usual go-to for home and garden items. I like the service here better than at the Home Depot in Chapel Hill, although on occasion the checkout cashiers seemed a little unenthusiastic lately. We've purchased everything from lawn and garden items to a dishwasher and refrigerator here. That being said, not everything the website says is in stock will be in stock when you get there. We did not know until after a year it had been draing out under all our kitchen cabinets. I've visited many a Lowe's/Home Depot over the last month or so and strongly prefer Lowe's over the two. Their prices are comparable but there is something about how much more organized, more cleaner and more helpful the staff is, that sets it apart from other home improvement stores. I had the great pleasure of having Greg from Appliances help educate me on refrigerators and washer/dryers as I was torn between two brands: Samsung and Whirlpool. Samsung has the sleek look I was going for, and the Dual Coolant which would keep my vegetables fresh for considerably longer but they also have a terrible wrap for their faulty ice machines. While Whirlpool had much of a better reputation, I just wasn't in love with the finish, or sides of the fridge, or the bulgy ice machine to the left, though I certainly loved the interior lighting. It was such a hard decision (I was pouting and whining the entire time) but Greg walked me through it! I also learned, that like humans... "it's what's inside that counts!" lol He took the time to explain all the features, nifty ones, annoying ones, went over warranty, and let me know best practices for front load washers - apparently it's best to leave the door open for ventilation to keep our mildew and grime. As an OCD enthusiast, this was hard to accept but he warned that too loaders don't quite clean as well due to the absence of an agitator and the sheer functionality of that type of wash. Because of Greg's awesome help and guidance, I was able to weigh all the pros and cons and make an informed decision. In no time, I walked away happy and confident with my purchase. We even joked around that his wisdom was that of a father teaching his millennial child the ins and outs of appliance purchasing. What was also great about my experience is that during holidays, Lowe's run competitive promotions, like 24 month 0% financing, which is incredibly helpful when you can't quite shell out thousands for appliances. (I will say though, you do have to watch out for price fluctuation, I stalked these prices for a good 6 weeks and they sure did go up and down, so ensure competitors are in line so do your homework!) UPDATE: After being on hold for 1 hour and 52 minutes while I joined multiple zoom meetings, someone picked up to transfer me to delivery and instead disconnected me. I then called back and was on the phone for another 30 minutes before I confirmed someone would come install my washer/dryer next Monday. I truly don't know when I have experienced worse customer service. I purchased a washer/dryer combo at the Lowes on Fayetteville Road in South Durham on March 22nd. I had delivery and install scheduled for the following Saturday, March 26th. I had recently moved to Durham and purchased a home. The installers came out on time and due to the fact that I did not have sliders did not install the washer/dryer. They suggested I call the store which I did immediately. I could tell the store was busy and they said they would call me back and get someone back out Sunday, March 27th. They failed to call me and on Wednesday of the following week I called them back and the install was scheduled for April 9th. I waited at the house for the entire window and no one showed up. I next went into the store, where I had a very nice man tell me that for some reason my account kept defaulting back to my Asheville, NC address and he could not switch it to reschedule the install to my Durham, NC address and to call the store and talk to Harrison who handled the scheduling of the contracted installers. I have now hung up twice due to the fact the phone rang each time for over 15 minutes, the third time I got a person who has put me on hold again with no resolution. At this point, I have been on the third call for over 22 minutes just holding. I contacted the online customer service who agreed this was a terrible situation and she was unable to help me since I purchased the appliance in a store. Meanwhile, the washer/dryer is sitting in my living room unable to be used. I guess I will have to pay someone to install it. I would not recommend this store at all. I had a delightful experience at the Morrisville, NC store where I purchased my refrigerator and the install was perfect. On a side note, those installers could not understand why they were unable to install even without sliders. I understand staffing shortages and the "great resignation", and yet the Morrisville Store was able to provide exceptional customer service and not leaving my spending over and hour just trying to get someone on the phone! My wife ordered a washer and dryer online. The next day someone called her to say they were out of stock and we needed to come to the store. We went the very next day and waited 15 mins before anyone answered the page for help at the appliance desk. The guy who came over told us the mistake was our fault because we had ordered stock when it should've been warehouse express. I don't even know what that means! All we did was use their website. He re-ordered everything and told us to go to the customer service desk to cancel the first order and pay for the second. Another 20 mins in line for customer service got us to a woman who had no idea what we were talking about and treated us like we were crazy. They had lost the payment for the first order so she didn't know how to cancel it. We finally told them to cancel everything and left. I'd rather deal with a laundromat than these people. If I can give them no star I would have. We went there back in March to get our hard wood floor, it's now JUNE! AND THE JOB IS NOT DONE YET. It has been a horrible terrible experience every step of the way: 1- Generating the quote: we went there we picked what we like, it took them a couple of weeks to get us a quote, it started by the person who generates the quote had left for the day. Then after he got us a got it was all wrong! We picked a hickory hard wood and he was supposed to pair it with the quarter round that goes with it, he picked WHITE QUARTER ROUND! thank God my husband went through every detail of that quote! 2- paying for the quote, that person kept calling us everyday to go pay for the quote, he kept (I don't want to say lying) but let's say misphrasing the deals they have to get us to go pay for the quote NOW! He kept pushing us to go while he was in the store! I don't understand what's his deal! He was getting credit for it anyway even though we did all the work of finding the right part number! And when we went to pay for it he said my coworker can help you pay for it! His co-workers (who was very touchy and wouldn't take a hint that I didn't want him touching me) had no idea how to take a quote out and wasted an hour of our life talking about none sense! 3- Delivery: they delivered half of the materials one day & the other on a different day! So we had to adjust our working schedule to accommodate theirs 4- installation: they came , pulled out our carpet, said your floor needs leveling , pay us $2000 now or we leave!!!!!! I have to mention that when were talking to them at the quote stage we told them that our floor is not leveled and the guy who did our quote said we see that all the time we will level it for $500-$700 Max and complete the job on the same day! So that took another week and a half 5- Missing parts & wrong colors AGAIN: Then they forgot to order the nose for the landing step! So they ordered it and they said it will take up to 3 weeks to get there ! Despite the fact that we looked it up and it was available in the Raleigh store! So we waited for 3weeks they were supposed to come install it 2:00-4:00Pm, the guy called us at 6:00pm saying that he is on his way and the was just given the work order!!!! So some one is lying! Either he is lying or the store is lying. Anyway at this point we just wanted to get done with it so we had to adjust our schedule again to accommodate them! Then after all of that they brought THE WRONG COLOR!!! HOW INCOMPETENT CAN A BUSINESS BE TO DO THAT!!!!!! And the guy tried to convince us that it's not that different!!! It was GREY & our floor is hickory brown!!! So it's mid June and the floor isn't done and the part hasn't come in. So the take home message: if you want a job done right OR in a timely manner, don't go to Lowe's, the most incompetent business I have ever seen. read more

Be careful with Lowes Home Improvement! An order for top-end KitchenAid refrigerator since 3-years ago (7/4/2020) remains undelivered. Understandably, the covid situation created a shortage, but Lowe's kept assuring us it would be delivered once it became available. but when we felt it had taken so long for our peace of mind to request for our money back, Lowe's stated it had no record of our order and payment though Lowe's has for a while copy f receipts in its possesion in addition to payment history with Lowe's credit department We have since being treated a sack of potatoes, disrespected, ignored, marginalized, and villainized as to call the local law enforcement on us as we went to the local store to demand our money. This has been a nightmarish experience. I can't even begin to talk about the time and trouble we have taken uncountable times taking trips to the store, the amount of foods discarded. I can also tell you the many times we took off work because Lowe's called us, sometimes at the last minute, that their vehicle was on its way to deliver, but failed. The only time the vehicle showed up, it had a heavily dented item covered and dressed up as new. Thank goodness we were present to inspect it. What we have also seen clearly is systematic delays, feet-dragging, stop-walling, and passing on the buck. We have also seen a lot of lies from the common staff in the Lowe's store to the so-called Lowe's Executive service dept staff. The un-American attitude and the indifference with which Lowe's has dealt with my family has rendered it a less bonafide institution in the eyes of my family. Needless to say, as long as my family exists, the company Lowe's will always represent a negative, traumatic experience never to be forgotten. I was in dire need to have an old refrigerator hauled away (for which I paid for on 11/10/2022) it is now 11/22/2022 and the refrigerator has not been removed. On three separate occasions I received text indicating the service was on the way and no one has come. Nor did have they called. I have left several messages with Lowe's customer service only to receive the same reply, "We are so sorry and will reach out to the dispatch center". The manufacturer only covers labor costs for any malfunctioning/defective issues during the warranty period if you use one of their contracted plumbers. BEWARE, there are no plumbers that they recommend who service the Durham/Chapel Hill area. You are on the Hook to Pay for one on your own. The MAXIMUM reimbursement from A.O SMITH for labor is $100 dollars. So far my $400 dollar water heater is going to cost me $400 dollars to repair. A.O. SMITH did provide the defective $230 dollar part at no cost to me. LOWE'S WOULD NOT refund or replace the water heater that I purchased from them which was nearly two years old and out of warranty. It troubles me to leave a negative review about this Lowes store however, it needs to be done. On February 28, 2017, I bought an expensive, over the range microwave. I was told that I would be called within 48 hours to set up a installation time. Today is March 6, 2017 and I still have not been called despite having called at least a dozen times about the issue. Apparently, they are using a new installer named Baileys, Who does NOT return phone calls or emails. I will never buy another item that needs to be installed from Lowes again. I generally like Lowe's but this store just can't get it together. I purchased a dishwasher two weeks ago and still have been unable to get it installed. On the little sticker with the price they say "next day delivery and installation." They are working on it and all of the people have been very friendly but it has just been a series of errors. They didn't have the dishwasher in their inventory. Then they couldn't get it from another store in the time they thought they would. It's just been one error after another at this store. Secondly you can't use your 5% store credit card discount as well as your hard earned Veteran's discount and somehow they applied the smaller one costing us about $50. I'm sure they will get this fixed but the length of time and number of errors that have happened have made me consider being a Home Depot customer. Hopefully they can fix this soon. read more

Usually I feel bad shopping at a giant corporate chain store. But I like to tell myself that Lowe's is a "local" business since they were founded and still are headquartered in NC. I haven't experienced the whole store, but I have to say in most categories, it knocks the socks off of the local Home Depot. There are always tons of people working there who can help out and answer your questions. There garden/outdoor/yard selection is much better than Home Depot. But two drastic things where Lowe's fails: 1.) They do not carry some of the best brands. Such as LG appliances and Behr paint. Major bummer. And 2.) I was not very impressed with their flower selection this season. I haven't explored real local stores yet, but for now, since this store is so conveniently located, I will pop in to pick up small house things I might need. read more

And that's where it stops being like any other Lowe's The service here is absolutely the worst I've ever encountered. And God help you if you need to go to the service desk for anything. Do not order online and ship to this location. I normally don't shop at this store, but I found a chest freezer online that was only in stock at this location. I ordered it, and later that day, my order pickup notification arrived in my inbox. I headed over to pick up my freezer. The employee could not find my freezer in the holding area at the front of the store. Almost an hour later, she found the freezer back in the warehouse area of the store, about as far from "ready to pick up" as it's possible to be. read more

This Lowe's has really gone downhill. Today not a single employee greeted us. We were obviously looking for something walking around with two giant carts filled with soil and vegetables . We were searching for kids garden gloves which the website said they had 13 pairs. We walked by 5 different employees and not a single one asked if we needed help. One guy in the garden center literally was on his phone while one lady checked out a massive line. Sure maybe he isn't a cashier, and couldn't have opened another line- but you shouldn't be on your phone in front of customers, it's unprofessional and when there is a huge line it makes it look like you couldn't care less. We do most of our shopping at Ace Hardware for this very reason- Lowe's cannot hold a candle to the level of service provided at Ace. Unfortunately Ace doesn't carry veggies so next time we will journey all the way to Home Depot in Apex because this degraded level of service we simply won't tolerate. read more

This is your typical big box hardware store. This Lowe's is the most convenient for me and I prefer Lowe's over Home Depot. It's very large, but well organized. I have never had much problems finding anything. When I have needed assistance, there are plenty of workers to assist. I especially like their outdoor/garden area. They can be very busy on Saturday's so be prepared to wait some to checkout. Their self checkout stations are a nice convenience. read more
