I drive by this location when traveling. I picked up some garden sprays. It was challenging finding help. Once I did, the employee looked up items on his phone and led me to the area that had what I wanted. The self check out area was crowded. twice I have experienced truck deliveries. Last year I purchased trex for my deck. the day of delivery I waited all day to be notified they would delivery. After 3 days of promises I went to the Managment to complain. It was finally delivered. This year I purchased a pallet of bagged mulch. I recieved a call to deliver the mulch early I called to the number which was listed, It was the Charlottesville store. the phone continued for three hours. No one answered. A little annoyed but after a while I was just curious how long for someone to answer after all I was reading a book no worry. The day of the delivery I again waited all day to get a text from the delivery service it would be delivered the next day. I called and got someone to cancel the order. After recieving a conformation of the canceled order, I ordered the same from Home depot. It was delivered the day as scheduled. Service has never been great at Charlottesville Lowes but it has certainly declined. read more

They have a moderately large supply & diversity of goods. The helpers are good IF you can find them. The prices are on the high side of low. I'm not an expert but I think the value equation is positive. I personally prefer the competition but it's really 6 of 1 vs 1/2 dozen of the other. And I own stock in the other so I want to support them. read more

After a few visits with attempts to locate particular items I would say they are A-OK. I did find one item and received customer service. Some staff was helpful, one was not. Ultimately I found an item needed to block hair from going down the drain. The disappointment was a staff that asked me to wait for assistance and he would return, but never did. This is the only Lowe's I'm aware of in Charlottesville. I would return. 3.5 rounding down with a customer service issue. read more

Called the C-ville store before I went. I bought 5 azalea bushes, all the same color -- or so I thought since they were all labeled as the same color. Turned out that, before I planted them, I found that one was a color NOT as marked and did not match the rest of the bushes. Since I live 40 miles away from the store I wanted to be sure that they still had the same color in stock that I wanted. So I called to exchange it to be sure that it was still available.. After calling 2x, and waiting ... and waiting ... I was disconnected. then called back. Total of about 30 minutes on hold before I spoke to a person in the garden center who assured me that the color that I wanted was available. When I arrived at the store I found that no, the color was NOT available. So I wasted 2-1/2 hours of my time (travel time and not including the time on 'hold') and $20 of gas to find that the person I spoke to was too lazy to verify that the color I needed was actually available. I hate shopping here and am so glad the new WalMart garden center is going in. Every single time I go to checkout and order bags of mulch the cashier goes through the motion of calling someone to go to the side gate to load. And every single time no one ever shows up. This Lowes employs intellectually challenged employees. By that, I mean normal functional adults who are genuinely incompetent and bad at the job. In four online orders, three have been wrong when picked up. Today, I ordered two simple nuts in the same size. I received two in obviously different sizes. I also ordered a washer and dryer with install from this same Lowe's, which sent a team to install without the right parts. My experience having soil delivered from the Charlottesville Lowe's was the worst I've ever had. I placed a large order of several varieties of soil online on a Monday. Part of my willingness to pay the steep delivery fee was because the soil was set to be delivered the following day, and I was on a tight schedule. Tuesday morning I received a message with no explanation saying that the day was changed to Wednesday. On Wednesday I received a phone call saying that 1 of the soil types I paid for (24 bags of it) wasn't in stock at the store, but the others were. The associate more or less began the conversation by asking "so.....what do you want to do?" followed by silence. no guidance, suggestions or explanations for how the store would figure out how to resolve the issue. After my expressing that I would need information (like, any at all) before knowing what I wanted to do, the associate suggested that a nearby store might have it in stock and "you could try calling around". I was pretty shocked by this and explained that I had already purchased the product from her store so it made more sense for her to start trying to track it down and get it sent from neighboring stores. (I was being polite, though gritting my teeth on the inside because I had already taken off work on what was supposed to have been the original delivery date). The line went dead without explanation and eventually I hung up and called back. long story short, after several bizarre and pretty careless phone calls I did not receive the product until Friday. I asked the associate if she could at least request that my load be delivered in the morning. She said "no, I can't" and it was not delivered until the end of the day. 3 days late. It is important to state that I don't blame the associate for her lack of customer service skills. I blame Lowe's. They clearly did not provide training on how to effectively resolve an issue with a delivery and how to maturely and politely speak with a customer, like literally how to use words to communicate. In addition, when you order online they give an option for delivery instructions. I requested that the driver speak to me before placing the pallets. It was also stated by the company that my driver would give me a heads up call when he was on his way. Instead, I get a call from a neighbor saying there was a guy unloading dirt outside of my house. He already had the Pallet on the fork lift when I came to intercept (I needed to make sure he didn't block me in). I do not blame the driver for this, I blame the store. If Lowe's wants to provide a delivery option, they need to be able to follow through from the point of sale to the delivery of the order. At this point it would have been faster and less stressful to do 10 carloads to the store and back myself! I was told that the delivery fee would be waived for the order but it still has not been deducted as verbally promised several times. Even if they had bothered to follow through on this promise (careless lie), it would be a drop in the bucket to address my terrible experience. At the very least, SOMEONE, ANYONE, should have said a basic: "we're sorry for the inconvenience". I truly believe that the Charlottesville Lowe's is careless with customers because they know they have a monopoly on the market. Unfortunately there is no Home Depot here to compete. read more

if I could give 5 negative stars I would. I have had issues concerning my washer and dryer delivery for over a month now. managers repeatedly lie about fixing the issue and my account. I feel like a LIVE at the Lowe's. I have been there early morning hours to calling with over 45 minute Waite times over the phone. Delivery personnel extremely rude and notes entered in the computer about situation were complete lies to cover the repeated mishaps. On 8/12 when I had to Call back to the store ad the manager promised me she would credit my discount and email me the uldate and or call me at the least....she did NOT I called back the next day and spoke to an assistant manager (Chris or paul ) who apologized and said that HE would get it done and call me back the same day......lied and NO credit or call was given from him as well. All lies and deceit from this store. I have called customer service and reported the fraudulent I feel at this point management. Terrible online ordering process. Customer service has declined over the years. I ordered a washer and dryer online. On the delivery day the dryer and pedestal were missing. I was not informed by Lowes until the day of delivery. I was told it would arrive 3 days later. One week later Still no dryer. When I attempted to cancel the order the ordeal started. Their inventory system showed the dryer out for delivery. It was not. Because it showed out for delivery it could not be canceled by myself or Lowes Customer Service. No one could fix the problem. Charlottesville Lowes is horrible. I now drive 15 miles one way to a Lowes at Zion Crossroads for my supplies or go to the local, small hardware store. (1) Charlottesville Lowes has very few employees on the floor to help with anything, (2) one or two long time people are helpful and knowledgeable but many turn the other way if they see you coming , (3) the items I seek are often not in the location specified on the website search, and (4) perhaps most irritating is the self checkout as there are no longer any real people to serve you. Ethan is an absolute star employee! He answered all our questions, checked stock for us when we couldn't find things, and cut and helped us identify the right wires for a home project. He was frequently helpful in other sections of the store with directions and had a very positive, personable attitude. Lisa (I believe she's the store manager?) also helped us tremendously at checkout! She was extremely kind and a pleasure to talk to. A third employee with short brown hair, seemed about 20, also brought a new electric cart over to my partner when his ran out of batteries! He was just about to clock out as well and took the time instead to help before ending his shift! It ain't great. Invariably understaffed at the check out, and some of the cashiers operate at a glacial pace, like every day's their first. On the floor, the staff often go out of their way to avoid those pesky customers and all their questions. Deliveries are often late, past the four- or eight-hour scheduled window, and when the goods arrive you can count on the "pickers" having selected the knottiest and most warped lumber. I have had some really good help here, especially in Tools. Like every big box hdwr store, most employees are going to avoid eye contact and pass you at top speed if you look lost. So what. This store is big- but everything is laid out well. The employees will cheerfully direct you to the correct aisle, but the selection is up to you-sometimes that's when I have trouble! They also are very efficient about returning, which I have had to do- many times! The paint department is excellent here with advice and they have color matching- if you need to match old paint color this is the place to come. read more

This location of Lowe's in Charlottesville has very, very poor customer service. I've been told by the employees, "I don't know" and no initiative to help. This store doesn't have a good selection of items and its always out of something. Some sections with hardware are terribly disorganized. I find myself ordering online for what I need or driving to Home Depot in Waynesboro. I am looking forward to Home Depot coming to town. May not be much better but at least I have more options than Lowe's and Martin's Hardware. read more

I don't know why on earth you guys use XPO for installations. My BRAND NEW oven has been sitting in my kitchen uninstalled for over a week. This is ridiculous. We have scheduled three times for an installation! The guy Coop in the appliance department told me that he can only place orders and take money and Lowe's had no control over XPO. Why would you have a contract with XPO If they cannot install the products that you all sell. I think you guys should find another company to install. I finally got in touch with someone at XPO and apparently Coop did not confirm XPO service . I have been back and forth with XPO and Lowe's.Not only is this the worst time to spend money on an oven that has been sitting for over a week! Update.. after numerous calls and a Few trips to Lowe's, A nice gentleman named Joe saved the day. My suggestion is to ask for Joe! He is excellent! He understood the frustration and had someone come install it within that hour. I'm sure he agreed that a week and a half of getting the stove and no installation was uncalled for. After several years of buying from, and dealing with, Lowes, I will never go back. I've given them the benefit of the doubt too many times. They seem to not want your business. They don't answer the phone when you're transferred to a department, they never call back when you leave a message, and their item shipping is a disaster. Some examples: I ordered a shower door and after nearly two months it finally came, but they sent the WRONG door. Couldn't get anyone to answer the phone to get it corrected. Went down to the store itself several times and the person I needed was always out. After nearly four months, I finally got a refund, but I had to bring the door down to THEM! They should have picked it up. And just this past month I ordered furnace filters that never arrived. Now I'm going through the same crap trying to get a refund. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Since recently moving I wanted to use my 10% off coupon and buy some Belkin WeMo LED light bulbs (or other comparable product) They had never heard of them. Number one, everybody needs to realize that this is a big box store. A lot of people are going to be going there, and it will be busy.Just because you have to wait does it mean this place is poor...It's called patience and we all need to learn to get some. I have never had a horrible experience at Lowe's. Have I had to wait yes, and I wait like a normal human being. If you ask for help, they will help you... But sometimes it will take some time. I have used online pick up without a problem. I've gone to customer service and I've had some hiccups, but they always work to resolve them. I've also had countertops installed, and the gentleman that did it were great and friendly and professional. They made sure it looked great and that it was perfectly level. I also had a roof installed by them, and didn't have a problem. The men were fast and professional. One of my solar lights may have gotten damaged, but again they're working on a roof with large equipment and one broken solar light is not a big deal. We've had the roof now for 1.5 months, and we have had no problems and no leaks. Overall this place is a good store with good workers, and has some pretty amazing deals. read more

I purchased window blinds at Lowe's. It took a little bit of time to get the guy out to measure. Finally blinds ordered. The measurer called a couple weeks later to schedule install, but the blinds weren't here. They came the same day, so I called the guy back three times over the next week, leaving a message each time. He never called back. I finally called Lowe's, cancelled the installation, and asked for a refund. I have neck pain, but at this point, it looks like I'm just going to have to do it myself. Good job Lowe's! The most over staffed under stocked Lowes in the country. I literally leave empty handed more often than not because they constantly run out of things. In the last week they were out of brooms (yes all of them), outdoor water access boxes, couldn't buy the drywall I wanted because it was surrounded by a delivery and not accessible what so ever, and today out of utter disdain climbed a ladder to open one of the 15 boxes of small joint compound they had failed to open and stock on the shelves. This is within 7 days! In early April I requested a quote from Lowes for them to replace my garage door. At the end of April, Irving called me, told me it would cost $35 for someone to come out and measure and that deposit would come off the final price of the door and installation. He also said that his independent contractor would call to set up a time to measure. The IC didn't come out until the end of May to measure. Here it is, mid June and I still haven't received a call from Lowes about the door installation. I ended up hiring the IC on my own to install. He had it done in 2 hours! When I filed a complaint with Lowes they said they had no record of my request. They didn't have a problem taking my money, though. The store manager contacted me and made a ton of excuses about how they didn't have a ticket number for me, so I must not have had a request. When I explained that I had a charge from them for $35 to measure, they sent an IC out, they still couldn't find the ticket. Folks, don't use Lowes.
