I'm in love with Lowder Baking Co. From cakes, to pastries, fresh breads...my oh my is it good. They do everything so right, and they do it with a smile! I wish they opened before I moved away from Shreveport. Every time I am back in town, I make sure to stop by!! This might be a bold statement, but I think they might make the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had. On a whim after leaving a nearby restaurant and getting a recommendation from someone in the parking lot, our traveling crew decided to stop in and grab a king cake from Lowder. We opted for two minis - the cream cheese and pecan praline. We were sad they were out of strawberry, but they were well worth the stop. Both were great, fresh and flavorful, but our favorite was the pecan praline. And the service was absolutely wonderful --- smiles and love all around.You know that warm and fuzzy you get when your business is appreciated -- yep, that's it. Great job Lowder! A lovely, locally owned bakery! It honestly is a step up for Shreveport. When you walk in it smells SO good and so fresh. I have tried their sourdough, cinnamon rolls, almond croissant, pain au chocolat, cookie cake, and, most recently, king cake! Known for their king cakes, I was curious to try their pastries. Oh my gosh, the strawberry pastry this morning was huge and delicious. It was as good or better than the pastries I have purchased at a little bakery I love to visit adjacent to Jackson Square in New Orleans. The food is excellent-make no mistake. A tad on the higher side for some items but the quality is what makes it worth it. The problem I have had twice now is with lunchtime service. My friend and I went for lunch about a month ago I guess when they had the amazing breadbowl, and today we returned for the grilled cheese. The food itself was amazing but what is highly aggravating is the way they handle the lunch rush. For example, it makes sense for the customers who ordered ahead of you to get their orders first. What doesn't make sense is for the customers BEHIND you to get their orders first WHEN EVERYONE ORDERD THE SAME THING. At first I thought maybe it was because I ordered two of something but then I realized that doesn't even make sense if it's literally the same item. Today she and I watched three other customers behind us get their sandwiches before we did. We did not order extra cookies or anything-just sandwiches. And three other people were given their food before us. This is exactly what happened when we went for the breadbowl lunch. What's more, the lady running the register takes far too long having personal conversations with who she's checking out at the time, which possibly could have something to do with orders not going in? I don't know how that works for them but it backs up the line even more, honestly. After today I can't say I'll be back, at least for lunch. It just makes us feel weird to not be served when we were ahead in line-almost like we aren't good enough to be there or something. read more

I came into the store and got king cakes on two different occasions. Both times I was told they were freshly baked and iced. Both times when I cut into them after about two hours they were dried out and stale. I reached out of Facebook and my comments were deleted. I then contacted the company by messenger and was told that I should have asked for Saran Wrap if I was planning on "saving it for another day", after I expressed my concern of not waiting till another day, I was told to have a nice life. I expect a bit more freshness from something that was "just baked" than an hour, especially for the price of 40$. read more

I have visited this place several times hoping it will get better.... only to be disappointed each time. I am willing to spend a little more if it means getting better quality, however, this is not that. You might as well get a box of pastries from the Target bakery; they will taste better and be a lot cheaper! A lot of their cookies are waaaaay over baked so if you like crunchy cookies, this place is for you. I have heard much about this bakery, it's less than a mile from me so I chose to go on Saturday afternoon. They had plenty of friendly ppl behind the counter. There was only one other person in the store, obviously, a friend because she was talking to everyone. I wanted a Bear Claw, they didn't have any. I ended up getting a cinnamon roll and an almond crossiant. I asked when I went in if everything was baked today, I'm not sure if they answered. Anyway, the cinnamon roll was large and sweet, but the icing was thick and hard, falling off all over everything. The croissant was hard as a brick, literally had to pull it apart. It had a good taste, but it was full of air and I lost more almonds than I ate. I don't believe either roll was baked that morning. It didn't smell like anything had been baked that day. I can't say for sure that they told me everything was fresh because I just don't remember if they answered me. I was very disappointed because each roll was over five dollars. i'm always looking for a good flavored latte, preferably decaf. lowder has it. the vanilla syrup is [insert french kiss]. their ham and cheese croissant is also extremely rich, nothing like the flat microwaved ones you get from the green mermaid who shall not be named. Lowder is definitely a must when i'm staying in shreveport before making the drive to doyline. only issue is their days and hours are strange. i can't seem to pin down when they're open and when they're not. so double check before trekking over. read more

This place is apparently a local favorite. It was packed with people when we got there. You should order in advance so that they don't run out of whatever it is that you want. We didn't know this, so we were only able to get a few things. The goat cheese danish was awesome. We also got the cinnamon roll, both the plain and the praline. And of course, both of them were awesome. I'm a little worried about the sugar content, but we were on vacation. So we threw caution to the wind. BTW, there isn't a place for you to eat this stuff. Never got a chance to try this amazing bakery and I wish I had. When I came by the bakery they weren't quite open yet and we're still doing construction. But they were quick to give me a free loaf of bread for my family and I. I will forever appreciate this bakery's kindness and care to my family who dropped by. Also there loaf of bread given to us was warm, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The French bread paired perfectly with artisanal cheese and apples. This bakery is turning out the most delicious king cakes! I've tried all the flavors and can't decide which I like the best. The strawberry and blueberry cakes are made with fresh fruit. The Louisiana pecan praline is divine and the Nutella cake is fantastic. Of course, you can't go wrong with the traditional brown sugar and cinnamon or cream cheese cakes. What a great location, too. Tried their Pizza kit and was one of the best pizzas I've had. Much better than the standard domino's, Pizza Hut, etc. Fun to make with the family. Everything you need to make a standard pepperoni pizza is included. We added jalapeños, onion and bell pepper. Have ordered 3 more since then. Five stars!! read more
