Everything about Lowder Baking is great and basically one-of-a-kind. In addition, the Lowers participate in community events in their area. I do want to add a couple of comments about previous reviewers. Some people who did not find their purchase as fresh as they would like, were there later in the day. I think that Lowder's baking is finished by mid-morning. The reviewer who began with her personal (negative) opinion of Shreveport and then repeated it again at the end is not someone who wound give a positive review, no matter what she was reviewing. read more

This little bakery behind Doc's Sandwich Shop makes authentic French bread, like you'd find in Paris! And real baggettes! (It's the gluten-rich, chewy, nearly break your teeth on the crust, but soft inside kind (not the New Orleans po-boy version.) The flavor is yeasty and delicious! Warmed and spread with real butter, it is absolute heaven. The store is very clean and the ladies who work there provide fast, friendly service. Besides bread, they have delectable desserts. My favorite dessert here is their cheese Danish. It's a little pricey, but large enough for two. And it contains quality ingredients. The dough is light, fluffy and crunchy around the edges, almost like phylo. The baker's cheese filling is tasty. Went to Lowder's on Friday around 1:00-2:00pm and bought a blueberry danish, cream cheese danish, cinnamon roll, and strawberry pop tart. The expectations were definitely higher than the quality of these pastries. The pop tart was fairly good, but had little to no filling that me or my family could taste. Both danishes were dry and we're not very flavorful. The cinnamon roll is where we had our biggest let down. In my opinion there was not enough cinnamon for it to be considered a cinnamon roll. The roll was not very sweet at all and if you didn't get a piece with the little cinnamon there was it tasted like plain bread. However the store itself was cute and clean, service was as good. Hoping to go back and try some of the other desserts offered. read more

We were so excited to try this place as we had so many great things about their pastries! As we walked in there was no greeting from either person working. I was browsing the cases and reading their board as they watched and yawned. I finally asked if I could order a pastry off the board and was told nope, we are all out. He informed me as he was slumped over the counter yawning that they had a couple of cookie cakes if I wanted one of those. I was surprised as it was a Saturday at 230pm and they were open until 6pm. The place looked cute and the pastries on the website looked delicious but unfortunately we will never know. I grew up in Shreveport and still come visit family and friends every few months. We came into town from Austin last recently for Centaur parade and per recommendation from a friend ordered our king cake here this trip. In my 40 years I've had lots of bad king cake and lots of good king cake and trust me I read the bad reviews. Turns out, this cream cheese king cake was really delicious, moist and definitely cream cheesy. Oddly enough, the party we took it to had 3 other attendees bring king cake, 1 shipped in from New Orleans. Even still, this was the crowd favorite, so that says something. You might be wondering why the 4 stars instead of 5 and that was because of the poor service and strange interaction when I went to pick it up. Definitely seems like they need some training in better handling multiple customers at a time, but the king cake made up for it. read more

Oh man. Shreveport actually has yummy places!!!! I'm so excited!!! This bakery is on par to an excellent one in Dallas. The bread is super fresh, the treats are unique and delicious. I didn't want to go overboard, so I got the s'mores pop tart and the epi cut baguette. Everyone was super friendly, they didn't have the rosemary epi baguette when I came in (around 9am). I wanted to try more, but alas, my stomach (and brain during my later workout) would not be happy with me. The epi cut baguette is great!! It was soft on the inside. My only complaint is that I wish it was warmer whenever I took it from their bakery, especially since I was there during opening time! It's a great baguette to share with friends because they can peel it right off. It was $6, which is standard to me for a artisan baguette. The s'mores pop tart...omg. Ok. So I typically don't even like s'mores flavored things, but this...was fantastic. They say they put their fudge as a filling...it looked like cake consistency, but didn't really taste like that, which was good. The topping was this messy marshmallow cream. Again with this one, it tastes 10X better warmed up. I think employees should ask if they want their treats warmed up because it completely intensified the taste! This one was $5, which was a little pricey to me, but the pop tart is actually kinda bigger than your average pop tart, so it seemed fair :) I'll be back for much more. read more

Can't say no to bread! I stumbled upon Lowder Baking Co. thru instagram. It is conveniently located right next to Marilynn's Place. The moment I stepped in the shop, the smell of freshly baked bread welcomed me! I sampled the jalapeno cheddar bread, and it was crusty, cheddary and had that smooth heat from the jalapeno coming thru. Pastries I've tried: 1 cheese danish, 3 cinnamon rolls, 4 strawberry danish, 1 pistachio goat cheese, 1 almond croissant. Bill was $53 plus tip. I picked up my pastries around 11 am, so they were not warm (they start selling these at 730am, and I called my order in). Service 5/5 stars Cleanliness 5/5 stars 4/5 stars on the danishes and the croissant. While I think that these are superior around the area, some layers are still stuck together and that, it needs some more butter in the dough. Their cinnamon rolls are outstanding. I cannot help but compare it to Whisk (i love theirs as well). I will be back to sample their cookies! read more

Y'all this place is amazing! We decided on the cream cheese danish, chocolate chip cookie, brookie and cinnamon roll. We are from Texas and didn't want to miss out on anything The cinnamon roll is by far the most amazing cinnamon roll I have ever had in my entire life. I ate the entire thing on our 3 hour drive back. The cream cheese danish was amazing as well and I forced myself to only eat a little at a time. Stored it in the fridge and it was still amazing 3 days later and I didn't even warm it up!! My husband enjoyed the brookie but his fave was the chocolate chip cookie. We will most certainly be going back! If only y'all shipped Oh! And the staff...so stinking sweet.
