It feels more officially a doctors office and more private than the last location. I had been putting off this check up simply because of Covid. Nothing pressing...I had to have some blood drawn and a quick check up before I could get some needed refills. I was really pretty surprised to see that most staff were not wearing masks, but I had mine and felt confident with my own safety precautions. Signs did state they would wear them if requested. I watched everyone using hand sanitizer just as much as I do and maintaining distance, so I felt comfortable. I believe I have been with this practice for 2 years now. While I like both Dr Casey Delcoco and Dr Amber Hibbert, Dr Amber Hibbert is who I prefer to see most. Maybe it's because she reminds me of a favorite, caring Aunt. She has a soft voice and very caring, nurturing demeanor. She listens empatheticly, validates concerns and I never feel rushed. Having chronic medical conditions and also being a parent of children with special needs, I've had my share of poor medical care experiences in the past. It led to a lot of struggles with anxiety for me, surrounding even seeking out medical care, let alone showing up at the doctor office and asking for my needs to be met. Every visit that I have with this office, I walk away more confident in my ability to take control of my healthcare, because of receiving such empathetic care. There was some employee turn over about a year ago, and I noticed issues like timeliness of prescriptions, refills and insurance authorizations disappeared. That has been a relief. I also cannot end this review without mentioning that their phlebotomist, Gabby, is A+++. I absolutely love her. Draws are always quick and painless with her. My Autistic teen son was extremely anxious about having a recent blood draw, and I reassured him it would be just fine because of Gabby. Sure enough, she was so good with him and he had such a positive experience. This practice also encourages and supports alternative and natural practices, when fitting. They're also supportive of extended and alternative vaccine schedules.

The medical plaza is conveniently located off of 465 and West 38th Street (behind LA Fitness) with a large parking lot for all of the Methodist/IU Outpatients. There's a covered drop off and pickup area plus many handicapped parking spaces available. Each building's address number is huge so each address is easy to find. The Infusion Center is located on the 2nd floor with elevators just steps from the main entrance. I was warmly greeted by a friendly woman as I entered the office. Check-in was quick with only a couple Covid forms to complete. My wait time wasn't lengthy until I heard my name called. Barb, my nurse/phlebotomist, was personable, knowledgeable, gentle and terrific at her job. I've been told by so many phlebotomists and nurses I'm not an easy stick. You would never have known that by how easily, smoothly and quickly Barb worked. I didn't even feel the needle go into my arm. For me, once my IV is in, it's all downhill from there since I dread not knowing if it'll be an easy or hard stick. Barb was truly amazing today and made the process stress-free. Time went quickly and before I knew it, the infusion was complete and I was on my way. I highly recommend using this Infusion Therapy Center at IU Methodist Medical Plaza. Parking is FREE and plentiful, the facility is extremely tidy and clean, easy to access with friendly and talented staff plus no long distance walks that I had to deal with downtown at IU Simon Cancer Center. I'll definitely return to this location for my next appointment. Thank you Barb for a painless and stress-free visit.

This is a nice surgical center…read more The administrative team are really friendly and helpful. The doctors and nurses are professional. The facility is nice with clean restrooms. They appear to have some kind of coffee service, but I didn't use it. The waiting "hallway" could use an update with more comfortable seating. Over half of the seating isn't conducive to waiting for an hour or more. I did identify some available outlets, but I didn't use them. You'd need your own charger. You get a patient tracking number and can follow the process on monitors in the hallway. That's super handy. Visitor communication is exceptional.

I felt like I was welcome from the moment I arrived from the ladies at the front to the medical staff in the back. They are all professional and friendly. Despite being a lifelong paraplegic with spina bifida, it has been quite a while since my last serious round of medical imaging because, well, I'm incredibly non-compliant. Hey, at least I'm honest. One of the joys of spina bifida (sarcasm noted!) is that it pretty much impacts everything from mobility to the brain to the nervous system and quite a bit of the internal mechanics (You didn't think I could talk about the kidneys/bladder in a dignified way, did you?). So, pretty much your life is supposed to be filled with regular check-ups to ensure that everything is staying in good working order. These days, folks with spina bifida are living much longer and I'm rather enjoying it so, what the heck, I finally agreed to a long overdue kidney check after several months of dealing with an infection that just won't go away. There are a couple things you should know about me - 1) I've been homeless twice basically because having a disability is incredibly expensive and all it takes is one really major health concern to completely wipe out the finances and 2) I have a rather traumatic background and am not the touchiest human being in the world. So, the notion of undergoing an expensive and rather intrusive exam has had me intimidated for days. Fortunately, the folks at Community Imaging Center handle it beautifully. My appointment was scheduled through my specialist's office and they didn't flinch when I had to work around a work schedule that can be inflexible and demanding. I was scheduled a couple weeks out and the Friday before my Monday appointment I received a phone call from an actual live-person to pre-register. This saves time the day of the appointment with the only "day of" requirement being presenting your I.D. I will admit this initially rubbed me the wrong way, but the more I thought about the more I liked it - the paperwork is done in advance AND, more importantly, I knew going into it what to expect financially. As someone who has been homeless, I can tell you the worst part of a big bill is the anticipation. They were able to tell me how much my insurance covered and how much I would owe. They could also tell me my options for paying it. Stressful? Sure, but what a relief to handle it in advance. I arrived about 20 minutes early for an 8:30am appointment that was to be followed by a 9:20am appointment - two separate procedures. The building is a free-standing building shared with a Medcheck. Being a healthcare campus, the expected accessible parking is available and doors are automatic. It snowed yesterday, but for the most part the parking lot had been plowed and sidewalks shoveled - I will note that I thought there was a little too much snow/ice in the walkway area from the accessible spots. As you enter, the front desk is to the right with a waiting area encompassing the rest. I checked in and, as promised, all I had to do was present the I.D. I was taken back to my appointment on time and, in fact, both appointments were completed before the second one was scheduled. My first procedure, an ultrasound, was done in a comfortable room with ample privacy. There were some handrails on the exam table, though I didn't notice them until I'd climbed on. It was a tad high for a wheelchair, but I made it work. Once that procedure was done, I was taken to a small changing room with a locker (to protect valuables) and given the option of wearing a gown or gown-style pants. Different technicians did each procedure. The 2nd process was an x-ray and, as well, I thought the table was a tad high but it worked. A couple of cool Community touches - 1) When the process is done, I received a card with the name of those who'd served me in case I had questions - this included the front desk/access person (Heather), my ultrasound tech (Lea), and my x-ray tech (Greg). Additionally, I received after a couple minutes of waiting a computer disk with my images on them for my specialist. I was impressed with the staff - Heather was friendly and helpful. Lea, who likely had the most invasive of the procedures, was friendly, helpful and conversational in an authentic way. She did what she needed to do, but was also considerate of boundaries and dignity. Greg finished things up in a quick, professional and effective way. I was impressed by all three. I've wrestled between 4 and 5 stars. In all honesty, it's really a 4 1/2. I was a little bit bothered by the snowy path and could tell the office itself was a bit old school as it wasn't quite up to accessibility standards. Bad? Far from it. I would say the office is probably shy of a 5-star, though the staff persons I encountered, especially Lea, were 5-star all the way.

I arrived at 7pm and was told that an ultrasound tech…read morewas on call and had already been called due to another patient experiencing the same symptoms that I was and needing an ultrasound as well. I was told that once the tech was called, she had an hour to report in so it may be a wait. From about 8pm when I was moved to the ER side (apparently required due to needing an ultrasound), I was left in the room and would leave to go out in the hallway and check in with nurses to find out when I would be seen or any updates on the tech arriving. I did this about every half hour since I had been previously told she had an hour to report in. The tech finally saw me at 12am. During the ultrasound, she had constant phone notifications sounding off and distracting her from the procedure. At one point, she had me (the patient) hold the transvaginal probe inside of my body so that she could respond to her phone. I was already quite distressed due to the nature of going through a miscarriage, and this made it much worse. The cherry on top was the bill I received. $3400 (after insurance claims). $2000 of this portion was just due to having to check into the ER (to not be seen whatsoever) but just to have the ultrasound in that ER room. Just beware before coming here. The doctors and nurses are kind, but "on call" does not mean much to the techs. Also, beware that you will end up paying thousands if you step foot into their ER (even if no testing or care is done via ER services).

Our son's adenoid removal surgery and mole biopsy landed us here. The hospital itself is full of natural light and plants, giving off a peaceful tone. All of the staff we encountered in the pediatric surgery unit were super sweet and total professionals at navigating a kiddo surgery. I was anxious going into it all not knowing how our four year old would react but they immediately put my mind at ease with all of their childcare specialists and extra bells and whistles (stickers, car "ride" to drive back to surgery, etc).

Since I live in Indy, an awful lot of my IU Health care has historically occurred at either…read moreUniversity or Methodist Hospital. While IU Health is not my tier 1 provider with my insurance, it's in-network. When it came up that I would require another surgery to address an ongoing issue, I began exploring IU Health North in Carmel in the hope that I would find a smaller, more personal care setting without compromising the quality of care I need as a complex patient. I was told to arrive at 8am for a 10am surgery. Registration is on the first floor adjacent to the information booth. The surgery suite is on the second floor. From surgery, I would go to recovery (of course) and then be kept overnight. Parking is free at IU North (NOTE: While I realize it's a bit of a stereotype, I'm not quite sure why the wealthier Hamilton County hospital offers free parking and the downtown Indy hospital does not, but I digress). While this is a bigger hospital than you might expect, I still consider it one of IU's satellites along with Avon, Saxony, Morgan and others. I arrived on time. Registration was simple via kiosk or with a person. Generally, the person is there to ask questions and direct. Once registered, I was sent up to surgery and the hosting area was almost immediately off the elevators. I checked in, got my arm band, and waited for my turn. I was taken back a bit early by a friendly technician. They got me settled in. Then the nurse and, of course, visits from anesthesiology and the physician doing my surgery. I'd informed the team up front of some trauma care needs. I was pleasantly surprised that this information had been clearly communicated and addressed. This doesn't always occur so thoroughly. I was grateful. I was in surgery on time. The surgery went well and I recovered quickly enough that I'm not sure I was even offered water in recovery. They had me on the floor fairly quickly. I got one nurse who was finally able to help me address an allergy inaccuracy. I was on the fourth floor. Interestingly enough, I was on the maternity ward (post partum). Apparently, they use part of the area for overflow. I was only in overnight, however, I didn't have a negative issue with nursing or techs. All were caring, compassionate, and for the most part attentive (I wasn't a high need patient, so it's hard to gauge attentiveness). The food? Definitely average. I took photos for three out of the four meals. The cafeteria downstairs is definitely better. I'm sure it's the same team, but I'd take this over Methodist most days - they get it to you more quickly, it's warmer, and those taking the order are simply friendlier. I figured IU North would be a little more high tech: 1) It's in Carmel and 2) It's a newer hospital having been built in 2005 with a cancer center addition in 2020. Most of the staff didn't seem to know much about the hospital, a weird deficit in terms of building a culture. Easy questions - like capacity and number of beds - were met with blank stares. It took forever for someone to figure out that there's a phone charger actually on the beds (it worked perfectly with my iPhone 16). I'd brought a charging cord believing that would be true, but could never figure it out. Finally, someone did. I was discharged as expected the next day. Discharge was a bit weird as it wasn't done by my nurse for the day. Instead, there was a virtual nurse (an actual person presenting virtually). Quite honestly, I hated it. It was impersonal and they clearly hadn't read my situation (for example, making comments about walking to a footless wheelchair user). I was also surprised no staff escorted me out. Yes, I had a ride. It still felt weird. I got my meds for home from an in-house pharmacy (Noting that I'd told them to send it to my pharmacy). While it wasn't preferred, it was convenient and it was delivered to my room so I could pay. The atmosphere here is calmer, cleaner, and aesthetically more pleasing. It's MUCH quieter. Instead of room bells buzzing, they have a silent system that greatly reduces the noise. Yes, it's still a hospital and hard to sleep. However, it's much improved. I also found the beds vastly superior to Methodist. Overall, I'd call this a good but not great experience. There are still some bugs to work out. However, the care was great - the procedure I needed was actually only okayed for this location recently. I was very pleased with the trauma-informed care and greatly appreciated the quality care for a generally basic but very necessary inpatient surgery.
