This place is great! My husband brought a pair of his great aunt's ruby earring here in 2012 to…read moremake into an engagement ring. They did a great job helping him select a diamond and to design the ring. I also got my wedding band at MRT's. It's a great local shop! My mother-in-law's wedding and engagement rings are actually also from here. What has impressed me most about MRT's is their customer service. When one of the tiny rubies fell out of my wedding band early on, they fixed it for free. More recently, I decided to get the wedding band and engagement ring fused together, so that they wouldn't rub together (the side wall of the wedding band was thinning from rubbing). I currently live in California and the price quote I got here for thickening the side walls and fusing the two rings together was $200 more expensive than the quote MRT's gave me. When I took the ring to MRT's, they gave me a price quote based on the time and materials to fix the ring. When they realized later it would take more time to fix the ring than expected, they kept the original price quote, rather than raising it, despite it taking more labor. I just received my rings in the mail from them and am thrilled with the result!

The woman was very unfriendly and told me that they couldn't help me, which is fine. However, when I was leaving I overheard heard her make a rude remark to an employee there along the lines of, "Why the f*** would he bring the bracelet here and not go through them (Swarovski) instead??" The whole encounter left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Before I contact Swarovski, I'm going to bring it to Gray's in Barrington. Those guys are super nice and helpful.

Looking to get a vintage watch chain lengthened, I went into Roman Jewelers. Mike took a look at…read moremy piece and immediately suggested a quick fix alternative to purchasing and trying to match additional chain or using an unsightly lengthening attachment. Using a small decorative piece of the chain, Mike was able to lengthen the chain seamlessly. It came out beautifully and you can't tell at all where the "surgery" is located. Mike was lovely to my wife and me (being a gay couple, this is not always the case), and refused to take any payment for the repair. I read the other reviews here and can't for the life of me figure out why someone would perceive the nice man I met as being snotty or pretentious. Maybe these folks need a lesson in snottiness. If so, they should head down the street to Providence Diamond to breathe the true rarified air of snobbery. Thank you Mike - your honesty and helpfulness does a soul good.

He demeaned the ring in multiple ways and made us feel like we were beggars trying to get crumbs. It felt like he was trying to get the ring for the cheapest possible price, and to do that he lied and demeaned the ring, which was actually appraised for almost $20k. We had another piece to look at, and he refused to even evaluate it. Ive never seen a business run like this - RUDE and 100% untrustworthy!!!
