That being said, I tend to hold them to a somewhat higher standard than your run of the mill gas station. This location in Hays I found to be a-okay. It's kind of a mess. The convenience store is small and there is no hot or freshly prepared food even though there are refrigerated cases for this- the cases are completely empty. There are signs all over the fountain drink machine about charges for cups, ice, etc. When I say signs, I mean a bunch of signs repeated over and over about the cost of everything- it is a bit obnoxious. There is supposed to be a taco place adjacent/connected to this Travel Plaza and there is a window in the travel plaza convenience store where I guess you would be able to order tacos. This is all shut down/closed. The whole experience is weird. Hays KS is large and there are lots of gas stations and convenience stores- I would go somewhere else. In addition, this location is not an easy on and off I-70 Highway

There's not too much in this town and my husband said that Sinclair's here is a rat dump, so it was nice to find this establishment. When we entered I didn't see nor hear anyone and we went straight to the restrooms. The women's had two stalls and was very clean with a nice scent. I then came out and started taking pics around the store wondering where the employees were at, it was so quiet and empty. The store did look clean and we'll stocked. Not only was there food, but also other items to check out. When my husband came out we picked out our breakfast and snacks. There was no tea or coffee available and the one booth they had was unavailable (COVID-19). My husband grabbed some glazed donuts and a 44 oz. fountain drink. I picked out a banana nut muffin and some planter cashews for later. I told my husband that I hadn't seen anyone working here and he told me yeah he's right here behind the counter. It was Aaron, the owner, working by himself today lol he had been watching me the whole time taking pictures all over his store. My husband told him that I write reviews for Google and Yelp and he laughed. I'm sure he was probably wondering what the hell I was doing. The front counter is pretty well hidden in the store and it was so nice to meet Aaron, he was so friendly. He rang up our purchase and we left. I swiped my card and chose regular unleaded (87 octane) and filled up. When it finished filling the price was through the roof. Well, it wasn't the fact that the price advertised on their sign is for cash only; credit card users pay 10 cents more per gallon (highway robbery, anyone?). It didn't print out the receipt, so I went in and asked what the price per gallon was? The lady greeted me without looking up. Handing me the receipt she said it was $3.05 because I bought premium. I said, "No, I chose 87 octane." She replied, "Oh, well that pump gets a little ornery sometimes, so....". So what? So I eat the difference??? I will never come back!
