We could not have been happier with Lovely Night as our 'welcome to the wedding' caterer! From the initial planning through the event day, Gelsey and James were wonderful to work with and truly went above and beyond. Gelsey was incredibly organized, responsive, and thoughtful throughout the planning process. On the event day, everything was handled seamlessly. The buffet looked beautiful and exceeded our expectations. And then there was the food! James and Gelsey brought an incredible level of culinary expertise to our event, and it absolutely showed. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Our guests continued to tell us throughout the evening how much they enjoyed the food, and we received so many compliments afterward. We would wholeheartedly recommend Gelsey, James, and the entire Lovely Night team to anyone looking for exceptional catering and truly wonderful people to work with. read more

Outstanding Catering Experience - Highly Recommend! Gelsey and the Lovely Night team were absolutely outstanding caterers for our 50-person wedding! From start to finish, they made the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. Communication & Transparency: From the beginning, Gelsey and her team were incredibly communicative, responsive, and easy to work with. What really stood out was their transparency about pricing--they never tried to upsell us on anything. In fact, they actually advised us NOT to do certain services through them because we had more affordable options available. This kind of honesty is so rare with wedding vendors and made us trust them completely. Planning & Flexibility: We had so much fun at our tasting, and they made excellent recommendations for seasonal dishes that would appeal to all our guests, including those with dietary restrictions. They were also incredibly flexible--they even added a super last-minute coffee and tea service for not much more than it would have cost us to orchestrate ourselves, which was a huge hit with our slightly more mature crowd who wanted to make it to the after party! Day-of Service: On our wedding day, the entire staff was warm, thoughtful, and kind. We were handed champagne the second we appeared! Staff members carefully noticed when we needed little curated dishes off to the side so we could actually enjoy our amazing food despite all the guests wanting to monopolize our time. This attention to detail was incredible. The Food: The oysters were a splurge that was COMPLETELY worth it--our guests absolutely loved them! We had three different types with all the possible accompaniments, and they were fresh and delicious--a real PNW treat. The other big hit was the cheesy mushroom puffs--at least 10 different guests specifically commented on how much they loved them! Overall Value: The value we got for the level of service, quality of food, and overall experience was incredible. I would definitely book with Lovely Night again and recommend them to everyone I know. If you want a catering team that genuinely cares about your experience and delivers exceptional food and service, look no further! Thank you, Gelsey and team, for making our wedding so special! read more

I recently had Lovely Night as the caterer for my wedding and I would 110% recommend them. Lovely Night is run by a husband and wife team (Gelsey & James) ad they are fantastic to work with. Gelsey was responsive, professional, and very organized throughout the entire planning process! On the day of the rentals were coordinated flawlessly, the tables and bar setup looked just as I had envisioned them, and all the staff were very professional. Everything went very smoothly on the wedding day in many ways thanks to her. James is the head chef and has worked at Michelin starred restaurants and it was very apparent, everything looked and tasted amazing! Our guests really enjoyed the food and we got several compliments during dinner about how much people enjoyed it. My personal favorite remains their pesto pasta, which is extra creamy! Many thanks to the Lovely Night team for going above and beyond to make it a successful event. I highly recommend you to consider Lovely Night for your catering needs. read more

We chose Lovely Night to cater a small elopement dinner (20 people) on valentine's day. We envisioned a luxurious, cozy and delicious, filling plated dinner - the food blew away our expectations. The salmon alone caused several of our guests to comment that it was the best salmon they've ever had! Gelsey was also amazing to work with - she was extremely communicative and helpful leading up to the day, even chiming in with last minute needs in a text thread with our decorator. Gelsey and team even pivoted during the event once she saw that dinner was running a little late to place our dessert bar in another area, so it was more conducive to the evening. The quality, professionalism and character of this team was a dream. Overall, such a wonderful experience and I would absolutely work with them again. Thank you for making our evening so special! read more

My tastebuds and tummy were extremely happy! Working with James and Gelsey was a total delight. I had no idea what a difference hiring a caterer would make. Everything was perfect, thoughtfully prepared and served. I held a memorial service in my backyard. Gelsey arrived with all the serving items that she arranged beautifully on my tables including fresh flowers tucked in-between dishes. Each item was labeled and noted if it was gluten-free, vegan, etc. The food was presented artfully at different levels and in interesting serving dishes. The beverage service was equally well set up. Gelsey was able to supply a three tiered serving platter for my homemade cinnamon rolls that were special to the person being honored. It was Gelsey's idea to have the rolls after hearing it was one of his favorite treats. James' food prep flowed without skipping a beat. Between he and Gelsey items were replenished and hot items served hot, cold items cold. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared. My guests all raved about the food. I would highly recommend Lovely Night for catering. Thanks so much Gelsey and James. read more

If you are considering caterers for your wedding or event, I cannot not more highly recommend James and Gelsey from Lovely Night Catering. My husband and I were incredibly lucky to run into James from a cooking class we took at Whisk in Bellevue, where James was the feature Chef. The experience they provided was beyond exceptional, from the food, specialty cocktails, service, tasting, and all of the accommodations they were willing to make for us! Everyone who attended the wedding said it was the best food they ever had at any wedding or event. James' food just melts in your mouth. I have to give the biggest round of applause to Gelsey...she was the "rockstar" of the night. She was there to help with every detail and every vendor. We are so blessed they helped our vision come to life. We are waiting to receive our photos, but here's a few from our original tasting and a few others from our wedding day taken by Matthew Land Studios at The Admiral's House. read more

The caterer for our wedding cancelled two weeks before our wedding and we were in a pinch to find someone. Luckily, Lovely Night was available and they were able to work with us quickly on a menu. We were very worried about the food since we are foodies ourselves and love to cook. We were wanting a creative, multicourse meal with wine pairings and excellent quality food. Because of the timing, we didn't have time to taste their food, we just had to commit and go for it. We are SO glad that we did. The creativity and flavors were phenomenal! I would definitely hire them again for any event and recommend to anyone looking for excellent, creative, fresh food served by good people who are willing to work with you and be flexible. I cannot thank them enough for being part of our special day. read more

I had a memorable and delicious virtual moms-night-in cooking iconic SF dishes with James and Gelsey. Gelsey led us through an easy tutorial for a tasty cocktail followed by a 3-course meal taught by James. The menu included butter lettuce salad with green goddess vinaigrette and radish, tuna tartare with jalapeño, toasted pine nuts and pears and a delicious cioppino with mussels, clams, prawns and rock cod. James shared stories and background on the dishes as he led us through the steps at a pace we could all follow. By the end, I prepared an amazing meal that wowed my family and one that I will be sure to make again. Thank you James and Gelsey for a fun night! read more

James and Gelsey absolutely blew our very high expectations out of the water with the incredible job they did catering our wedding in July. My husband and I wanted the food and dinner experience to be the highlight and central element of our wedding and it most definitely was. James planned and built out an entire outdoor kitchen at our venue which had almost nothing to offer them in terms of cooking resources. Gelsey planned an outstanding service experience and was incredibly organized and thoughtful with every little detail. Not to mention the most important part...the food was OUTSTANDING! The portions were generous and everyone truly raved about every single dish, from the super creative hors d'oeuvres, to the light summery salads, to the seasonal PNW main courses. We got so many "best wedding food I've ever had" comments that we couldn't count them all! I could go on and on about all the reasons that Lovely Night catering is the BEST choice for your wedding or event. They were willing to meet several times before the event, answered emails and other correspondence promptly, and were flexible and gracious working with our wedding planner. I felt that for the experience and food that we were able to provide for our guests, their services were worth every single penny and more. I would hire them again in a heartbeat and hope to again one day for some other reason. One last thing - my husband and I explored many other options including some of the bigger catering names in the Seattle area, sampling food and talking to many different companies about what we wanted. No one else came close to the level of customer service we received from Lovely Night, and no one else came close to understanding the level of food and service that we were hoping for. Thank you SO MUCH James and Gelsey for making it the wedding of our dreams! read more

The Lovely Night team is AMAZING! They were very responsive and helpful leading up to our wedding, and they provided us with a lot of great menu ideas and other vendor suggestions. The food and service during our small reception was truly impeccable. We loved every dish and there was never an empty glass. Would highly recommend! read more

I'm a wedding coordinator, which means I've eaten a LOT of bad wedding food. How refreshing then to work with Lovely Night. Not only was their food the best I've ever had a wedding, but the team was super professional and on it before, during, and after the wedding. I highly recommend Lovely Night and hope to work with them again soon. read more

We indeed had a lovely night of an online cooking class with a wonderful meal created from start to finish. I loved how we learned about the history behind the dishes in addition to step-by-step easy instructions. At the end of the evening, we all had a wonderful, elegant, and upscale meal to enjoy with our families. The name of their company is certainly apropos! Thank you for getting us out of our food rut, Lovely Night! read more

Quite honestly the most amazing culinary experience I and we ALL have every had at a wedding. Luck for us that it was at our daughter's wedding! Virtually ever guest expressed how much they enjoyed the food! Every appetizer and every part of dinner was AMAZING!!! The nectarine/prosciutto salad and short rib were my personal favorite. From start to finish they were very professional, responsive and delightful to work with. Lovely Night will be my "go to" caterer forever! read more

Lovely Nights catered our wedding in August of 2021 and they were PHENOMENAL! We hired them to do all of the labor (set-up/clean-up, rentals) as well as food and would 10/10 recommend them for anyone who is looking for a delicious, approachable and hard-working group. Our wedding went so smoothly b/c of Gelsey, James + their team. Plus all of our guests raved about the food (and when does the really happen with wedding food!) Hire them! read more

Gesley & Team were fantastic with helping to plan and execute a perfect event. The food met multiple dietary restrictions, but tasted as though they were all devilishly bad for you. Gelsey and James slayed it at our May 2019 wedding. Guests were telling my husband and I all night (and weeks after the fact) that the food was the best they'd ever had at a wedding. High praise! Gelsey was/is a total gem of a human to work with, and working with her and James to hammer out a menu was a joy. I can't say enough good things. read more

Gelsey and James are amazing! They catered my work event for 50 people, they created an amazing tasty menu that had something that everyone enjoyed, they paired the wine and even coordinated the ordering and delivery of the rental items. Gelsey and James of Lovely Night catered our recent mini-wedding and our guests (and us) can't stop raving about the delicious four-course meal!  They used fresh, seasonal ingredients and cooked everything to perfection! Our entire experience working with Lovely Night was positive, excellent communication, incredible flexibility (our venue changed 3 times!) and a very high attention to detail.  We will definitely use Lovely Night catering for events in the future and recommend others do the same. Gelsey and James, thank you for making our day so truly lovely! read more

Lovely Night catering created a beautiful celebration for us for 90 people. Owners Gelsey and James worked with us to determine the best layout for furniture and prep areas, including an outdoor work station (even though it was 35 degrees out there!). They also reworked the menu to fit our budget and added staff to make sure that we would have a smoothly orchestrated event. Their food was delicious and equally as beautiful. Gelsey laid a stunning table and added several elements to enhance the theme. They worked very hard from beginning to end and left the house with minimal impact! I was not feeling well and Gelsey made sure that I not lift a finger once the party started, which was very thoughtful. Most of the party comments were about the wonderful food and beautiful service. I highly recommend them!! read more

James & Gelsey were the caterers for my wedding of 130 guests in July of 2017. They did an absolutely OUTSTANDING job. I met James through a mutual friend before he and Gelsey officially launched Lovely Night and I am so glad that I did. I am a sommelier and the food was incredibly important to me. My guests ranged from BBQ-loving Texans, to meat and potato only midwesterners, to Seattle restaurant owners and sommeliers, and they were all impressed. When my husband and I were going around to tables and greeting everyone we stopped to chat w/ my parents. My Dad has never liked salmon, until this meal! James & Gelsey are both professional yet easy going and made the process of planning very smooth. We met four or five times in person and exchanged many emails to cover all the details. Two weeks before the wedding day, we had coffee one last time. My head was dancing with details and my attention span short, but Gelsey was so on top of everything front of house that all I had to do was answer her questions. I made a lot of decisions but left several details to her and I am glad I did. One special touch she came up with was a rose tea to serve pre-ceremony (it was as warm and sunny day) which was perfection. After the ceremony my husband and I took 15 minutes to ourselves to go inside and be alone and enjoy the fact that we just got married. Gelsey arranged for a plate of appetizers, the tea and some sparkling wine to be brought to us. It was much needed and very thoughtful. Their staff was well-dressed (my wedding was formal) and gracious. Service was timely and efficient and no one was left waiting for their food. I decided on family style service and highly recommend it. The meal itself was stunning. I wanted ingredients that highlight the PNW, were seasonal and fresh. Here's the menu that we settled on: Charred and marinated escarole -sourdough croutons, boquerones, almonds, sherry shallot vinaigrette Grilled calamari with chorizo stuffing - Marinated chickpeas, preserved lemon, saffron aioli Kurobuto pork belly - Apricot glaze, baby squash, lovage Roasted chicken - Medjool dates, brioche, arugula, whipped chevre smoked sockeye salmon- Roasted red beets, bagna cauda yogurt, toasted quinoa Carlton farms pork loin - Yukon gold mashed potatoes, porcini mushrooms Everyone at the head table had seconds and if possible, thirds of the pork belly. One more thing - James and his back of house staff had very little to work with appliance-wise because my wedding and reception were both outdoors with not much available. I'm not quite sure how they pulled it off but they did and you would never suspect they were working w/ so little. All in all, I can't recommend Lovely Night Catering highly enough. The quality, organization, planning and execution was worth every penny. read more

This was the best wedding food we've ever had! Gelsey and James were great to work with. We consider ourselves foodies, and Lovely Night is definitely the catering for foodies. Given our guest count we decided that a buffet was the best option and we were initially skeptical that we'd find a catering company able to make buffet food up to our standards. But wow, they certainly did! Early on we mentioned that we wanted to highlight fall flavors given the timing of our wedding. They were full of great ideas on ways to incorporate fall foods like squash. We are also very into cocktails and they were great at designing our bar menu with 3 signature cocktails and a signature mocktail. Our guests were very impressed and many came back for second helpings. Communication was very clear and easy throughout the year even though we were planning from out-of-state. Gelsey and James kindly coordinated a tasting for us during a quick planning trip to Seattle and accommodated our short time window, making things very convenient for us. We highly recommend Lovely Night! read more
