She is clearly knowledgeable and experienced, and I am thankful for the role she played in my birth. During transition and pushing, she offered guidance and support that was helpful in those intense final hours. I do believe she understands birth well and brings expertise to the room. That said, there were a few things that did not sit right with me. At multiple points during contractions, when I looked up, she was visibly on Facebook and Instagram. I understand that long labors can involve downtime, but she was only physically present at the hospital for a few hours during transition and pushing. Given the relatively short window of in person support, it felt disappointing and inappropriate that she was on social media during that time. It made me feel like she was not fully present in such a vulnerable moment. There were also moments where her reactions felt disproportionate, such as when the toilet water unexpectedly splashed up. Her response heightened the situation rather than helping me feel grounded and calm. In addition, I found the overall value of the package to be underwhelming compared to other doulas I interviewed. Many offered formal childbirth classes (which were extra through MM) and ongoing support groups as part of their services, whereas Modern Mama primarily offered monthly mini classes on rotating topics, which did not always feel directly relevant or comprehensive. For the investment, I had expected more structured education and support. Though I was appreciative of the nice photos that were included. I am grateful for her knowledge and the role she played in helping bring my baby into the world, but I do wish the level of presence, professionalism, and overall value had been stronger throughout the experience. I likely won't hire Modern Mama again although I don't have experience with the other doulas.

We purchased amazing car seats for our twins but we couldn't seem to get them to remain properly secured. We have two other kids and have installed infant, convertible, and booster seats. However, these were not working for us. We called the store we purchased the car seats from and they highly recommend Brent as a certified car seat installer. 50-70% of car seats aren't installed properly. You can't put a price tag on your children's safety. It was a very reasonable price. He did an assessment of our van, told us the best configuration for the infant seats along with our son's booster seat, and walked us step-by-step through the installation. Well worth it!

She was able to ensure that my husband and I were fully prepared, educated, and empowered. COVID regulations hit DAYS before I went into labor, and she pivoted on a dime. She educated me, helped me with hypnobirthing techniques, and supported me (and my hubby) during my pregnancy and leading up to labor. Because of covid I knew she wouldn't be allowed in the hospital but she had already given me so much - including helping me decide to change prenatal care and birthing hospital which I'm SO GLAD I did. I was able to find a hospital with midwives that was on board with my birth plan! The plan was that she would come to my house and labor with me as long as possible before going to the hospital and she would teach my husband how to support me as well. That's exactly what happened when I went Into labor. She basically did all the work with me at home, helping me manage pain and helping me trust that I could have the unmedicated labor I wanted (even when I doubted myself). Thanks to her I did it! By the time I got to the hospital I was 9 cm dilated! She had helped me do all the work at home, my baby was born 20 minutes after getting to the hospital they didn't have time for any intervention, and I'm so glad everything went according to my birth plan. But it's only because I had Jessica through it all!

I knew I wanted a doula for my labor/birth, and had a doula recommended to me by a friend. I…read moreprocrastinated on contacting her, and by the time I did- she was booked. So, about 10 weeks before I was due I started the search for another doula and came across both Lora, and Chelsea, individually. I contacted them and they let me know they had recently teamed up and were available. We had a zoom call with them and my husband and I decided to book them for our August birth. Chelsea & Lora came for a home visit in June, so we could meet them and discuss initial ideas about my labor/birth/etc. They both brought their individual strengths and so much knowledge. They then came back a few weeks before I was due to discuss plans for when i went into labor, comfort measures, etc. They were both there any other time my husband and I had a question throughout the whole process as well. I had a long, long (44 hour) labor and we (mainly my husband) were in contact with Chelsea/Lora the entire time. About 22 hours in, once the pain had gotten pretty bad, Lora came to our house at 8pm. She quietly supported us and helped get through the contractions. At midnight, Chelsea swapped in so Lora could get some rest. Chelsea encouraged me to keep moving and try different things to help progress labor. When we thought it was time to go to the birth center, Chelsea came with us. When I finally ended up being admitted, Lora was the doula who ultimately joined us at the birth center- and spent over 12 hours there with us. I had mentioned during one of our previous meetings that I would love it if the doula who was present could snap some pictures during the day of labor/birth- I wasn't looking for anything too fancy or professional but just wanted some iphone pics. Lora went above and beyond, using her own camera to take lots of pictures and a video of the birth- which we haven't seen yet but are so excited for! Both Lora & Chelsea truly went above and beyond, and are a perfect complementary team. They came for a 2 week postpartum visit and it felt like having friends over to meet the baby- we cannot recommend them and their services enough & will definitely be using them for baby 2!

From the moment my partner and I met her for the first time via Zoom, her confidence gave us the belief that I could do it with her by my side. Kelly also provided resources and text support throughout pregnancy, most noteworthy being lactation, newborn care, and labor prep. (I cannot recommend AZ Breastfed Babies enough!!! You will not regret setting up a prenatal consult). Kelly really came through for me in the weeks leading up to birth. My baby was breech at 37 weeks and I was really on the fence considering an ECV. She recommended the same doctor my midwife did (Dr. Hervey, Banner U) which gave me nudge I needed to move forward with the procedure. Kelly was in contact with Dr. Hervey throughout the process, which really made me feel at ease with the whole thing. Dr. Hervey was able to flip our little girl and by the grace of God we were able to carry her to full term for a cephalic natural birth at our birth center. Fast forward to baby's arrival. Knowing that I had Kelly's experience on my side, I felt the most confident I could feel even though I had never experienced the intensity of natural childbirth. Kelly guided me through early active labor at home, setting clear expectations of what to do and expect and the right time to go to the birth center. (BTW if you want the dream team, choose Tempe Birth Center...they have an amazing working relationship with Kelly). Initially hiring a doula, I was mildly concerned how they'd interact with my partner. It was clear that Kelly and my partner had their distinct roles and worked in perfect synchronicity. In fact, when contractions got super intense, I was so grateful my partner was the one in charge of the phone calls/texts with Kelly, as I was in complete labor land trying to focus on getting through each wave. Once active labor kicked in and I reached the birth center, Kelly's hands were on me as I got out of the car, and I remember feeling a wave of comfort knowing she was right there with me. Kelly knew all the right things to say, all the right places to squeeze, all the right positions to be in to progress my labor. For example, around the time of transition, the anterior lip of my cervix was still around baby's head, so Kelly had me try a few contractions in different positions that I wouldn't have thought to try. My midwife checked me again after and I was fully dilated and ready to get in the tub for delivery. Kelly knew what to do and when, ALWAYS. Her knowledge, expertise, clear direction, and confidence were exactly what I needed to power through a natural birth as a FTM. Other amazing things Kelly did...her photography and birth timeline were phenomenal, and we will cherish them forever. Also, her PP visit was essential and gave me so peace of mind when I was really going through it with breastfeeding challenges. If I really haven't hammered it home...you need her LOL. Next birth I will be using her, without a single doubt. :) Kelly, thank you for your impactful work......I cannot thank you enough for believing in me and giving us the birth story we dreamed of.

I decided to go with the 5 day package and added on the massages. The massages were amazing! I worked with Princess who is the founder of Bellibind - she made me feel so comfortable, relaxed, and confident during the whole journey. The massage included a womb massage which was incredible as I've never had anyone focus on that space during previous massages.
