Meadow Lea Farm Coffee Shop - This local farm added a café about six months ago I heard.

I was asked if I ever had a proper English breakfast so we came to this relatively new café that's…read moresix months old. I was introduced to Black Pudding, an acquired taste for even the English- pigs blood and intestines mashed into a hockey puck. I have nothing to compare it to but a taste of it was good for me. It was crispy, soft like pudding and a bit sweet. I opted for the tuna panini which was terrific. I read it came with chips which I figured were fries but got actual potato chips which was fine I guess. Michael said his All Day Breakfast was spot on except for the sausage which he described as cheap or watery. The other lads said there's were fine and devoured it spite being hung over. Before breakfast I asked to walk past the gates to witness the sprawling fields. I was welcomed with a bit of apprehension and took a few photos as you may see. Apparently no one asks to go back into the farm. I breathed in the cool air and appreciated the beauty of the English horizon. I was met by the owner, Bill Williams, in a tractor who stopped me to have a bit of a chat. He is a funny man when he said the view was "alright" and there wasn't much to see. I learned the farm was 400 acres and how he had a kick travelling the California coast line several years ago. When I return to Chester I will be sure to come back and eat here and say hello.

Absolutely 5 star in every respect. Glorious food served by friendly staff in clean and welcoming…read moresurroundings. The sight of a log burner roaring away is a marvellous sight on a cold winter morning.

This Starbucks location is located in Coliseum Shopping Park, it is located in the shopping park…read morewhich its-self is next to the large Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, the main benefit of this store is that it doesn't tend to get as busy as the Starbucks at Cheshire Oaks, so it is generally easier to find a seat. It should be noted that this is a franchise store, so some prices are higher than your typical Starbucks and this store does close at 19:30 Monday - Saturday, this is slightly earlier than the nearby Cheshire Oaks Outlet location which is open until 8 pm (9 pm on Sunday's). This Starbucks store could be better though... they were out of stock of my usual order, the Cold Brew, instead I opted for a Venti Iced Chai Tea Latte with vanilla syrup and a shot of espresso. I did notice my drink was really sweet, I understand vanilla syrup and chai do have a sweetness to them, but this seemed unnecessarily sweeter than times I have ordered this drink at other Starbucks locations, my friend also said the same about her caramel latte, my guess is the baristas were going a little too heavy-handed on the syrup. My guest's tall drink turned out to be grande, which was charged as such too. There was a small number of comfortable seating, but most of the seating was the typical wooden chairs - perhaps this store could do with a refurb to look nicer and more modern, compared to the newer Starbucks stores, it feels like this store hasn't been given much TLC in years. There is a small outdoor seating area, but only enough for 2/3 tables, not the best outdoor seating area due to being directly in front of a retail park, or car park but still nice enough on a sunny day. 2* - A useful location as it doesn't tend to get as busy as the Cheshire Oaks Outlet location, but a poor Starbucks branch overall which I probably wouldn't visit again.

Best Bucks in the area. Not as crowded as Cheshire Oaks and much more relaxed…read more Friendly staff who seem to enjoy their work Easy parking and coffee is what you'd expect from a chain, reasonable standard though nothing of note

After visiting, we know why. The place is great. Clean, cozy, with a very welcoming staff. The food we ordered was made to order and excellent. My eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly! The flat white was both beautiful and spot on. Way to go guys! Highly recommended.

There is also a delightful Spring inspired window display which as an ex-theatre designer I really appreciated! Apparently the owner's wife changes it seasonally. Lovely touch. I ordered a mozzarella, fresh kale and sundried tomato baguette and it was delicious. The bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and the contents were so fresh - it was gorgeous. I then treated myself to a peppermint tea and a white chocolate and pistachio cookie - such an unusual and classy combo! Loved it! The *only* thing I could complain about was that the infuser for the peppermint tea leaves was a little loose so a lot of the leaves escaped into my glass but I was able to fish them out easily and the tea was lovely so I really didn't mind :-) I only wish I was based in the business district of Liverpool so I could frequent this lovely place more often. Another example of an independent business getting it just right.

I've always loved the original Elephant Coffee Shop in the town where my family now live. As of yet…read moreuntouched by the coffee chains (save for a Costa Express in the big Sainsburys) it's great to see that there is space for the independent coffee shop in these country villages. So when the company decided to open another coffee bar in the next village down, of course we all had to go and check it out! This place is a bit bigger than its counterpart - gorgeous location situated on a road right by the front, in the summer I can totally see people ordering coffee and sitting outside to drink in the view across to nearby Wales. In slightly chillier spring though, we sat inside - although the sun did come out as we left, so I imagine that the back area could turn into a bit of a sun trap. There were already some families out there with their dogs (since it's an animal friendly area), very comfortable and quaint! The coffee is a mild roast, but with a really nice deep nutty flavour, I almost prefer it to Starbucks! (This is actually quite a big deal to me, I know how many people hate the company but I CANNOT get enough of Starbucks coffee!). The decor is stripped back - exposed wooden walls and pipework visible in the ceilings gives the shop a cool, slightly industrial feel to it. Obviously done to appeal to a younger clientele, the premise also stays open later as a bar to attract some nightlife later in the evening. Definitely have to pop down to check that out when I'm back!
